Hey everyone. Im a recent graduate of high school attending my first year of college next year and I have finally decided to upgrade from my very old PC to a MBP, it runs fine but not great at the moment. I have been doing research on when to buy a MBP and i believe the new models come out in February sometime. I have read countless articles and rumors and still am confused on weather i should buy one now or wait till february so i can purchase the new model. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
@ACO4L If its just for college then i would recommend just getting a macbook air because you still get all that power from the i5 processors and its SDD. As of right now all the macs have been update to i5s and thunder bolt and there isn't really much they could add and apple updates there Macs much less frequently than there idevices.
Conclusion Get a Mac now because the next update should be out until sometime around 2013 or so and there isn't much they can add to it.

Mac sucks. Have you seen the new Voodoo notebook? It's thin but has removable battery, 2 usb ports, kick as desgin and the Ethernet port is in the power brick incase you forget.
The macbook air is a secondary computer. it's only meant for people who already have a desktop, and want something mobile. but at the same time, don't want something as big as the macbook.
But seriously, atleast use a mac for a while, and don't complain about the OS with the typical "why doesnt it work like windows" questions.

Does apple have good air filtration on their machines? I own two imac's and two macbook pro's and it's always at least seemed like they sacrifice function for aesthetics because my imac gets incredibly hot on the surface. Maybe I'm wrong, someone educate my ass.
The air is not really a good standalone computer. It's just to compliment something powerful. It was mainly built for business men or travelers that want to always keep a computer with them. I'm not saying it succeeds in doing that, but that is the intention.

Okay, i compared one of the newest and expensive mac with a not so expensive pc:
Mac: 4gb DDR3 ram, Intel core i5 (2,53Ghz turboboost), 15 screen, nvidia geforce with 512 MB dedicated ram. 500GB hard drive = 16089 Dkr.
Pc: 8gb DDR3 ram, intel core i5 (2,6Ghz turboboost), 17 screen, Ati radeon HD 5650 with 1GB ram dedicated = 7500 Dkr.
I don't know if you see it.. But the Pc is a lot cheaper than the mac, and is better in term of specs?

Does apple have good air filtration on their machines? I own two imac's and two macbook pro's and it's always at least seemed like they sacrifice function for aesthetics because my imac gets incredibly hot on the surface. Maybe I'm wrong, someone educate my ass.

The air is not really a good standalone computer. It's just to compliment something powerful. It was mainly built for business men or travelers that want to always keep a computer with them. I'm not saying it succeeds in doing that, but that is the intention.
If anyone wants an honest assessment (read: non-fanboy) of a mac just ask :)

Just because computers are made for the masses doesn't mean that people should be complete stupid about them.
It's not that hard to learn. I could write in Machine Language by the time I was 10. I am not saying to go out and learn everything but christ computers users don't have to be stupid about everything. I don't like cars, nor have any intrest in them, yet I still took the time to learn how to fix them so I can fix problems myself. Apple is doing no favours for these people.

But just think, with iPhone's touch screen technology how long do you think before they integrate that with all their computers...

I know how to program, and use a computer more efficiently that most people of the net.
When I want a computer, I build one, and I don't want a Mickey Mouse computer made for 2 year olds, which is all Apple sells with it's QUACK, crap.
Where is most of the support? It's on Windows.
