i killed him solo with my kensai/thief in 1 second after he spawned. (he didnt even had the time to spawn his minions. 16 traps were necessary to achieve this)
Spike traps and snares stacked where he spawns own so much :p
i did the same thing with the party you have to kill just before you enter demogorgon's level.
Yes, you could also use normal traps. Or you could use clone spells or Vhailor's Helm to trap the area with as many as you like by abusing that clones don't have a limit for summons and traps. Then you trigger the fight and he gets hit by a few dozen traps. Hooray for the brave heroes.
But really, where's the point? I usually see that as a boring and "emergency" type solution, as it takes away the challenge of most fights. Although I like preparing ambushes with my thieves ;)
I'm trying to kill him with the Ascension mod installed and it made him freakin' BEASTLY tough. =(
Even with a full party of 6 at an average level of around 23-24 he's kicking our butts. Got full chaotic commands and free movement on everyone though so at least he's not mind controlling or holding any of us. Still, that mod makes him just about impossible lol. Gonna keep trying different ways see if I can take him down, if not I might just use the seal scroll. =P
Kudos on taking him down solo btw, especially on insane difficulty! That's nuts.
I think he's maybe immune to my breach spells though so I'm going to reload and try my spellstrike wands and higher level penetration spells and see if that helps (had given up last night).
Well, yes, if you install the "original" version he should be immune to spells below level 8 or something, which would include Breach. However you could always try Dispel/Remove Magic, as it seems to bypass these immunities (works on liches too, btw). Another possibility are the wands you mentioned, as they merely imitate the spells and therefore aren't subject to his immunity, unless you have a mod that changes that.
Yep, thanks! I managed to take him down about a day after posting my comment. I took on Watcher's Keep immediately after leaving Saradush so I hadn't even gone to the Temple or Marching Mountains at that point, talk about a tough fight! This is my first time playing with Ascension mod, it's crazy but definitely makes the bosses live up to their legendary reputations. I've since taken down Yaga Shura and am fighting Sendai now, talk about a lot of drow!! Take care. =D
Okay dude are you going to answer me? Youe description isn't full btw. You forgot to mention fireshield, globe of blades, etc. Please write down ALL of the spells you used before and during the battle. Also do some of the mods you installed changed something in the game (add a spell or something like that for example)?
Well, maybe it seems faster, but you can't really be faster than Improved Haste. Also the maximum attacks the game allows is 10, therefore one would strike every 0.6 seconds if he reaches that number.
Yes, a lot of the mods I install change things in the game and I guess that is true for the installation used at that time as well. Anyway, I still tried to use only vanilla items and spells. As for the spells: true on one hand but on the other irrelevant. No characters left...
The spells, that is the buffs, are largely irrelevant because: they don't make much of a difference. The enemies are either highly resistant to magic or fire. The mean reason to use them is actually a) routine, b) even slight advantages are advantages, c) Aura of Flaming Death for example offers nice bonuses. However the latter can be achieved by othe means as well. AC would be irrelevant too, because I use Protection from Magic Weapons.
No matter what you think of this however, one important point is: Demogorgon is actually pretty weak. The important part is to buff yourself a bit so you're immune against some effects thrown at you. If you insist I could make another video with, mhm, a Ranger or something like that. A class without the ability to buff with an endless array of spells. The result would still be the same: dead demons and prince in no time due to brute force.
You need to have the COMPLETE scepter. Once you have it completed, you have to engage in a game of cards with the cambion on the last lvl (you can also just kill him but it's far more rewarding to play his game). After the game of cards, he'll hand you the scepter and you can leave through the portal. If you're still stuck, go to GameFAQ's and consult Dan Simpson's excellent faq of BG2.
Oh the beautiful music at the beginning ... This was (these were - the IE games collectively) - the height of creativity in the best era for PC games.

i beat the demigorgong solo. on insane and added in all bosses from the 3 games.. Sarevok, Jon,Mellisan, the 5 bhaalspawn...when i did it i felt so awesome and now i look at myself and i think...wow am i a geek....(but i still feel awesome)
"I even ran away at the beginning so it's a bit like in Watcher's Keep when he gets a Timestop to summon allies while you are running up to him."
No he doesn't. You just say that you will return to that Order guy, then you trap and prepare all you want. That way even improved Demogorgon is a piece of cake with energy blade spam. =)
Hmm, maybe I don't quite get you. What I mean is that the "Original Demogorgon" gives his little speech when you approach, followed by a Time Stop which he uses to summon his minions and to use some buffs and abilities of his. I tried to simulate the distance you have to him, when you come down the stairs.
You don't have to give him that distance. You can tell him that you are going to talk to Odren and then he won't attack you. This will give you opportunity to get in position and place traps/summons before the fight starts.
Aaaah. Well, that's personal preference, I guess. I usually go outside to tell Odren and then come back into the chamber to defeat Demogorgon. When doing it this way he's already there and the fight starts when you're entering his sight. Of course one could lay some traps before going outside, but I don't really like that method myself.
Personal preference definitely, but from a powergaming perspective you don't have to give him the area advantage. It's bad enough that Eclipse has it. ^^
Once i get my new computer mind showing me were i can download these mods for bg2 i stopped playing when my-cleric berzerker multi-class could duo demegorggon?
LOL that's why I banned it on the table. A player I knew would have his teammates wait for his bluffing before entering any big halls/throne rooms/end of the tunnels. In the end he would just tell me to help him "put on the usual buffs". It's just bad for RPG.
If you know what's coming any battle can be specifically prepared for and therefore obviously easily swing the odds in your favour. What's cool to do is not do it on solo or anything like that, but just not allow yourself to prepare for anything, except generally and when characters in game tell you what's coming. So it's like a first run through again.
Hey, it's not as though any fight in this game isn't easy enough as it is. I find it too easy if I don't solo, and I never remove the XP cap, that would defeat the object. With Spell Immunity for that damn Implosion I could kill him with my sorcerer, and if I used a f/m multi it'd be even easier. Though, I must admit, I have never played through the Tactics mod solo, or even at all. That thing is a demon, you should try it at least once.
Way to go, by slaying him, Demogorgon has returned to the Nine Hells and has regained his freedom. Of course, he won't be able to return to Toril for a crap load of time, but he's still free to plot evil. Instead of securely bound for eternity. REALLY wanna kill him permanently? Visit the Nine Hells and kill him there (if it's at all possible). I personally wimped out after the uber fight with those trapped villains and monsters right before Demogorgon's prison, so I let him "live".
Right. Where he's free to continue plotting and evil and whatnot. Instead of staying nice and locked up forever. But who cares, it IS a game, more xp right?
Yes, well. The point is, that from a roleplaying perspective, he's home and free to plot his evil crap once more. Experience cap remover much? Replay much? Otherwise very interesting, I'd solo a character to such a level too if it wasn't such a chore.
Sure, he may continue his evil plotting when he's back in the abyss. On the other hand what would hinder him to think about something he will do when he's released while he was imprisoned? I get your point, don't worry. Although I think that was maybe merely an avatar and not the real thing anyway.
Soloing is actually quite interesting if you have some tactical mods and such installed. This character was my first solo run ever. Was quite interesting.
but the new dnd hordes of the abyss said that any tanar'ri lord demon/god which he is is killed on the material plane he is banished forever to his plane never to leave it
depends on what dnd version you play i play the 3.5 version and the old adnd but the 3.5 said that if he is killed on the material plane and he was a god or demon lord he is banished to his plane of ruling forever but thats just from those versions i wont touch that piece of shit 4.0 version of dnd that is killing the dnd spirit
You're an idiot. If anything is killing the spirit of D&D - the spirit of exploration and adventure - it's creepy "fans" who run away and cry at the sight of anything new. Nobody's forcing you play 4th edition but if you haven't played it then what in God's name makes you think you're qualified to talk about it? I've played every edition since Red Box and it is just as much D&D as ever.
It's a shame we can't see the feedback on the bottom of the screen.
Anyways, considering that Elminster is only a level 26 mage, who is over 1000 years old, an avatar of the god of magic, and has defeated an arch-devil; it's isn't really that surprising that you, a level 40 (I'm guessing), would be able to beat a demon prince.
Also, if you only used pierce shield, how did you get by this contingencies etc?
As I understand you have removed the experience cap? So the character can be lv 40 fighter/40mage/40cleric...? Well it is your game but I wouldn´t do that and certainly not brag about it as it is cheating. According to the 8 million lvl cap ur character should stop at about: lvl 16 mage/ lvl 17 fighter/ and lvl 20 cleric. with about 2.7 million experience to each class. Try go back and beat demogorgon with that and say he´s not what he is supposed to be. He is, but you don´t follow the rules.
Oh I read it "Anyway fast and easy fight. Quite pathetic actually, when you keep in mind that Demogorgon is a demon prince who can grant spells to followers. ...sigh..." and that part is what I meant incase you have forgotten what you wrote in there. That sounds like bragging to me.
Besides, I think you don't really have a point anyway. I don't do anything in the video a "normal" F/M/C couldn't. As for CC: scrolls, anyone?
I don't use any 9th level or epic spell at all even the aforementioned CC was pointless. Imho there is actually no point in saying "Try go back and beat demogorgon with that and say he´s not what he is supposed to be. He is, but you don´t follow the rules."
Please clarify one thing: did you or did you not remove the XP cap, thus making your character level 40 in all 3 of her classes? Because if you did, Demogorgon might not be balanced against such an overpowered character, and thus would lose fast. Beating a monster that's supposed to be tough vs even lvl 40 characters with what effectively amounts to a lvl 120 character isn't a great achievement, thus you get no bragging rights if you took off the XP cap.
Not the normal battleground, but I guess this is actually tougher since you can't hide behind that rampart thing. Which would you say is tougher, this or the final battle against The Five?
We meet again, 240p.
