  • Thanks for the video. I bought a BNSF Intermountain ES44 and was disapointed in the sound compaired to the MTH SD70Ace. But this simple speaker change made it sound a lot better. Ordered from Railmaster web site and it arrived in less than a week. Great improvement !

  • @jlwii2000 hay I was wondering if you can give me Ideas for making an Train layout I am just starting to make my own I have always been into model railroading but never had the time or space to do it and i need help coming out with ideas to start me off.

  • In your videos I see you got the whole UP heritage fleet of passenger cars in this one I see generator car Howard Fogg which is always behind #844

  • A whats up dude a can u make a vido on the sd60 3 window by b.n. thank u

  • James,

I see what I believe is an Atlas Genset in the background? I was wondering if you have a sound decoder and also if it is a prototypical sound or generic? My son just purchased the NS 300 & 301 and I am looking to convert.

Also wanted to let you know I really enjoy your videos.

  • @khayden65 it has qsi sound with generic sounds. MRC now has a genset specific decoder I had ligar technologies in san antonio texas install the sound in mine.

  • @jlwii2000 What program do you use to edit your videos?

  • Hey James, what CV would the air compressor be programmed on if the Locomotive is the Athearn HO SD70ACe. It's functions are off as you see, F10 is the coupler and F9 is the brake.

  • @brentnguyen46 I have no clue on that one.

  • Thanks alot dude for the video

  • Guys I'm getting alot of emails about using painters tape. I used it for speakers because the wires will never get hot under a load, Do not use painters tape for other projects like headlights, wiring, etc. I just had no heat shrink or anything else around to cover up the connection and assist it in not breaking, so I used painter's tape which was a suggestion from the hobby shop that sells these speakers. Speaker wires don't get hot so no need to fuss over what's covering the connection.

  • I have to fix the bell and horn the bell rate is too slow and wrong it suppose to be a K5HL/

  • Great job. I run the real ones and that sound system is spot on. I also have one of these models on my layout and I'm going to take your advice. Thanks for the air compressor CV update too!

  • Now we just need a cheat-sheet for the NS ditch light issue with this loco.

  • Sounds alot better. I have an old Soundtraxx system on my N-scale layout. No speakers in the loco jut under that layout. Have some big speakers and can really crank it up. Neighbors think a real train is passing.

  • @Rdrake1413 I am considering just such a system for my N scale layout. It's not like there aren't other expenses and hassles to deal with in this hobby.

  • James. I would not bother desodering the old speaked (Just snip the wires). I would tin the new wires individually followed by slipping on shrink tubing then soder. Any way thats what I would do. Over all thanks for the video!! I do appreciate your work!!

  • James, painters tape does not have any insulating properties. Go buy a bottle of liquid tape, it only costs 4.50 at your local auto part store. Great job by the way.

  • Great Job James. Sounds so much better than stock.

  • you like train

  • Nice job! What make is the UP Genset in the back?

  • Wow james good job I used the cv 112 to value 3 and this it sounds awesome.

  • Thanks for the shout out Brother!

  • Good job done there

  • That's how he rolls!

  • Just wondering if you have the speaker polarity right? it almost sounds out of phase to me, but it could be the video.

  • @jonnyspeed Speaker phase has to due with the relationship of one channel of audio to the other. If there is only one speaker it is not possible for it to be out of phase, as there is nothing for it to be in or out of phase with. Your question about polarity is legitimate, however with one speaker it won't matter.

  • @jonnyspeed there is no speaker polarity. I spoke with railmaster hobbies and they said it doesn't matter which way the wires are attached.

  • Amazing what $12.50 will do for a $200 plus loco!

  • How much was the Challenger? If you don't mind.

  • @pa28r200t54 $375

  • @jlwii2000 do u like the CN SD70M-2

  • Sounds much better. Just wondering do you own a DDA40X ?

  • @pa28r200t54 yes bachmann and one athearn on order

  • Great video

  • Nice BNSF Dash 9.

  • try using liquid elec. tape it wont be as bulky as heat shrink.

  • great video like always

  • Much better sound then before.

  • Great Tutorial.
