I cook like this man does, you add ingredients till it looks good, you don't need recipes, you just watch someone who knows what they're doing. The BEST home cooks I know, cook this way.

Home cooking is also based on economy, you throw in whatever is laying around the kitchen and needs to be used up before it goes bad.

For baking, you pretty much need a recipe so the chemistry will work correctly. Everything else? Use all your senses.
