@TheYTCable Its using FJ custom length I beams and vitara pistons. I believe in this video it was on a stock head, no zex cam.
The spun bearing wasnt from abuse though, the engine was always thoroughly warmed up and rev limit never got raised to beyond stock levels before the bearing spun. Basically, its a long story.
@bmoney1577 Well I wasnt driving. But yes, its called flat shifting. The rev limiter cuts power and allows for the shift, so you dont have to use the close throttle if you time it right.
Its a pretty common thing, especially with drag racer.s
I also have buddies that have non vtec d series turboes that make extreme power and run 10's in a quarter mile, since they make power at 4000rpm instead of 8000 they simply last longer, I am getting a colt tri flow cam for the engine and a bisimoto top mount turbo header
Lol Ive been on d series.org for the last 2 years, but I was either going to turbo my d16a6 or swap a k20a, but if I was going turbo I would have gone with eagle rods and CP pistons (rated to 1000hp), I just dont know how reliable turbo is going to be, is it going to burn oil out the exhaust constantly?
tell us a bit about it, it has the nice d series sound lol, non vtec aswell? vtec is not good for turbo's because they make power at high rpm's and dont last, without it you make power at lower engine speeds
@Brendon00000 Thats not really true. A fully built VTEC D can make good power very reliably. there are numerous people running 300+ hp setups as daily drivers without problems.
Viiara pistons are a great option in this regard because they are not forged, so they dont wear the cylinders when cold starting, and can hold a lot of power (They have proven to over 600 hp)
If youre interested in turbo'ing your D, I would suggest getting on D-series.org, It has TONS of great information

A spun bearing is comin in d series motors it happens a lot more the people think cause that's one of the weakest points in D's

how much psi?
91DAintegraB20 1 year ago
@91DAintegraB20 I honestly cant remember how much it was on when we did this pull. This was still pretty early so it wasnt very high.
I wish I had a video of it on high boost, but it spun a bearing and were having trouble finding a good crank. So we havent rebuilt it yet.

@FTBoogie oh damn that suck what bearings where u using?
91DAintegraB20 1 year ago
@FTBoogie yeah that was predictable by seeing you others videos u cracking the engine.
it was a tad stuck, and i beleive the zex cam would cause such drag.
never the less it reved smooth like a b16. congrats for that. for most people its not easy to do that in a D16++.
what rods and pistons were used?

@Brendon00000 This is actually a D16Z^ (VTEC) with a Zex cam, so its making peak power ~7-8k rpm.
Certainly not the best setup for keeping cylinder wear to a minimum, but it sure is quick.

@fellafoe make sure you're fully engaging your clutch. Otherwise you may need to adjust it out a bit.
