  • i actually find this harder than the elements song. am i alone? i mean, i can sort of recite the elements song.

  • I can sing this! :D I actually found the elements song to be harder, am I alone in this? lol

  • @laudevecchi No, you're not alone. I think the elements song is harder too. I still haven't gotten it down...probably never will.

  • @laudevecchi then again, if Harry Potter can do it...

  • Awwww yeah! I learned this, the elements song and the modern major general song. CHAMPION. Any... other songs that are considered hard? Not saying these weren't a pain in the ass to memorize and sing correctly.

  • nyancat- easy mode

    periodic table song- hard mode

    this- nightmare mode

  • zzahier, thank you so much for uploading this! I think 1,000 of those views are from me alone ; )

  • I prefer "Manic Depressives Presents" because I've got a chance with that one, I learnt the words two that one at an early age from a n old 78! I'm not that old but the song is.

  • ...That is awesome....

  • Currently my favorite song.

  • i just learnt the whole of the elements song by another genius tom lehrer. When i heard he got his inspiration from this song i thought cool ill learn that too cant be as hard as the elements was..surely.. oh dear god.

  • This is insane in the best way possible. Definitely one to tell my friends about. :P

  • Lyrics by Ira Gershwin

    Music by Kurt Weill

From 1941 musical Lady in the Dark

Although Sylvia Fine wrote some great ones.

  • WOW what verbal dexterity.. Fabulous, fantastic and absolutely astounding.... Bravo Danny, bravo sir... :0)x

  • This piece was written by Danny's wife, Sylvia Fine. She wrote a lot of the songs he did. They had a daughter named Dina.

  • @Lillibet60 Sorry Lillibet60...this piece was from the Broadway Musical "Lady In The Dark" (1941) by Kurt Weill and ira Gershwin. Although Danny's wife wrote many of his famous patter songs...this was not one of them.

  • Back before VHS, we used to watch Danny Kaye movies, among others, on reel-to-reel; "Court Jester", "The Inspector General", "Walter Mitty" - he was always a brilliant entertainer - this brings back memories...good stuff!

  • He's the greatest entertainer that ever lived ! Long live Danny Kaye...

  • WIN

  • Hats off to a great performer and grand actor!

  • GENIUS!!!

  • Danny Kaye is the best

  • I forget, how many composers was this?

  • 50 according to Wikipedia

  • Fantastic, thanks so much for posting! I'm a nutso Danny Kaye fan, have been since I was little.

  • Loved this for years! And Ira Gershwin did write the lyric. Years later his sister married Leopold Godowsky's son & Ira told him he'd mentioned him in a song (Not mentioning it was in a long list!!)

  • A very nice little charm. Remains of Lehrer's "Periodic table". I am waiting for a Russian chess players song!

  • You, probably, one of the most bombastic boors i've ever read.

Same on Russian: Ты, наверное, один из самых напыщеных невеж, которых я когда-либо читал.
