ALso china, india, austrailia, new zealand etc, there are more left hand drivers in the world than right. populationwise anyway. Also it's the correct side. look at what side moorcycle stands are on, also which side you mount a horse on etc.

I'm of coarse I would say that being Scottish, it just makes more sense to us.

The first time I drove with the steering wheel on the right, I drove out of the garage of the rental place and right into downtown Sydney traffic. It was a vehicle known as a ute. We had some errands to run in the suburbs. I was a little nervous at first, but surprisingly, I adapted rather quickly :D Everything is a mirror of cars with the wheel on the left, except for the three pedals. The first time I tried to signal, I turned on the windshield wipers. :P

Just a response to why they drive on the left: It comes from the ancient Roman era. The Romans needed to drive their chariots on the left side of the "road", so that they could throw their spears with the right. It is one of those rules that people actually felt fit to keep. Hope that helps.

Actually, that's the original way of driving. Hitler changed it in continental europe during the 2nd WW. So actually, we are the once who drive on the wrong side:) And, Ireland, UK, Australia, and I think in S. Africa, they drive on that side..left. Just in IE, to change the way they drive, I think it would cost them 5 times their yearly budget to change just the roads and signs, not mentioning the overtraining of people, and changing the cars/manufacturing, and other stuff I can't think of...
