Hey MrJJfan4life,khnew Tommy very well he lived just down the highway when we all (the David Allan Coe Band owned Ruskin Cave and were living there in the early to mid 80's
I agree with wabberwookie: I hear an amazing similarity between "Would you lay with me" and "If I needed you." Not having heard either one a whole lot previously, I only now realized they were two separate songs. No problem: now I have two great songs I love, where before there was just one, so I thought.
crlucas87 i think dac said it best himself. country can ya make folks cry when ya play and sing have ya paid your dues can ya moan the blues can ya bend them guitar strings
short awnser very few country singers these days can
I'm listenting for the third time and I have to confess David Allen Coe has given the best version of this song. He is a legend upon himself. Have we all not loved his songs? More power to you. Keep going.
I met coe when i was 13 with my dad at at a harley rally in cherokee, N.C. for the first time. saw him twice after that. This song makes me love nancy willams soooo much. wish she understood it..
Let me say this to all these pop country tards that are trying to sing now. If you can't sing with the emotion and conviction that the greats did. Just knock it the hell off. POP COUNTRY SUCKS!
Great American story teller. This man is a national treasure.
