When I was young, my mom signed me up for swim lessons. The teacher wanted to show the class how to do this ... using me as a model. Being around 6 years old, I wasn't that good at staying a float. I strongly believe that the teacher should've learned from this vid, because he just left me and I almost drowned. I dislike him to this very day.
I know how to swim.. It takes a while to learn sometimes so if your learning it can take a few days... When i learned to swim it took a few minutes if you know how to hold your breath for a long time you go underwater and you start floating then you just paddle with your feet and hands.. @AppelMak 1. Make sure the water is warm 85 degrees +. I learned from experience that cold water is not a good environment to teach kids to swim. Make sure they got cap+goggles, without those they will constantly lift their head up to wipe the water off their face and eyes. As far as fear goes, I had kids who had a near drowning experience, yet I still managed to teach them to swim, and had them on my team shortly after. They have to trust you first, then the water.

@MillymollysX your 13? Nice language you got there, no reason to be frustrated. You need to face your fears, enroll in a program, or get some private lessons. Swimming is not all that difficult, in fact we are mammals we swim naturally, the only reason people are not able to swim is A. No body of water to swim in B. Bad experience, just like in your case.
@shigalbigal it just has to do with what you know. You need to think like you are laying on your bed. Try it and i think it will work. That is how i learned and I am a pro swimmer.
@shigalbigal no problem just remember that if you dont float and drown or go underwater dont quickly go up. Just let yourself loose and you will float up and stay that way. and when you are on the water floating also let yourself loose so you wont drown. Dont struggle when, and if, you drown! Tell me if you need anymore help!
I been traumatized at a young age. In summer camp the instructors threw me in the water and told me to swim without any insctructions. Now I'm 26 and I still panic when im in water because of that horrible experience in camp. I am barely learining how to float and I am still afraid of letting go without the fear of drowing. @acefujikura get your head down, don't look forward simple as that. Look forward or up, your legs sink, once your legs sink you go into a vertical position and eventually panic and drown. Your body is naturally buoyant, only if you relax and keep that head down.

Hello, a really good start is learning to float like in this video, and just getting really comfortable in the water, learn to float comfortably on your back and front holding onto stuff if you need to, and then you'll be ready to move through the water.

I'm 20 and I can't swim, that's embarrasing. I'm trying to learn now but I had the chance to learn as a kid but I was scared of everything as a kid, that sucks!

5 years ago a girl, who was 12, was babysitting her little brother, who was 5, cause her parents were out. she was putting her brother to bed wen she heard the fone ring. she piked it up and a mans voice said "turn around" she did then she saw her hanged brother, and then she died. copy and paste on 5 videos in 10 minutes or you'll die mysteriously tomorrow at 6:59.

Hello, a really good start is learning to float like in this video, and just getting really comfortable in the water, learn to float comfortably on your back and front holding onto stuff if you need to, and then you'll be ready to move through the water.
