  • O_O

  • You know the Oscars are complete bullshit when Steven Spielberg has only won twice and Martin Scorsese has only won once. Seriously, what the fuck?

  • lmAO...and Jessica too...

  • This year, Terrence Malick will trump Spielberg.

  • steven spielberg is MR hollywood ........ period.

  • 1:51 is that tuckelberry from polioce academy?

  • 2012 Academy Awards

Best Director Steven Spielberg War Horse

Best picture Steven Spielberg War Horse

Best animated Feature Steven Spielberg The Adventures of Tintin

  • @theburningpancake

Sorry, but there isn't a snowballs chance in hell that either of those films will win their respective categories.

  • I'm glad Spielberg won because he didn't get the best picture oscar which his amazing movie deserved

  • YOU CAN SEE ALL THE JEWS AND COVERT JEWS TALKING ABOUT IT AND WINKING TO EACH OTHER!!!!!!!!! IT'S SO FUCKING OBVIOUS!!!!!!!!!

  • @dljc1979 Fuck you Nazi scum.

  • Do they get to know they will win before the show?

  • Yeah steven!!! this movie should have won best picture as well as director. It was an incredible story!!

  • Happy Birthday Steven! 12/18/11

  • Shakespeare in love was overrated and not that popular. In Mexico never put that movie on theaters after they won some Oscars. Saving Private Ryan was shown on day 1 in Mexico and still shown on TV. That shows a great movie is released on day 1 and still showing on TV after many years.

  • Did i hear that right? "John Madden for Shakespeare in Love"??

    lolz

  • magneto love <3 1:54

  • em glad dat best director ever made d best movie ever.......

  • Shakespeare in Love won because Harvey Weinstein is a FANTASTIC campaigner for Oscars. Shakespeare in Love is OK, but we all know Saving Private Ryan is the better movie -- but since when are the Oscars about the best movie? They never have been, and anyone who thinks that is wrong.

  • Ian McKellen at 1:54.

  • Shakespeare In Love SUCK!

  • CHE FILM!

  • Does anyone even REMEMBER Shakespeare in Love? NO! Why? IT'S FORGETTABLE! This is WHY i hate the Oscars: They only choose the movies that are good for THAT year! That is why Raging Bull, 2001, Citizen Kane, The Great Dictator, A Clockwork Orange, Network, Sunset Boulevard, Dr. Strangelove and many others are not given the proper respect!

  • He spent half the video listing how many children he has.

  • best director

  • How can someone win best director, yet not have their movie win best picture? Shakespere's In Love is not awful like everyone says, but come on! The Oscars fd up. royally

  • @bigbrogiant4 This is one of the BP Oscars I'm always like, "Wait, what?" Shakespeare i Love wasn't bad at all, but better then SPR, Truman Show, Thin Red Line? What the hell, Oscars!?

  • What I mean by that, sir, is if you was to put me and this here sniper rifle anywhere up to and including one mile from Adolf Hitler... with a clean line of sight... Pack your bags, fellas. War's over. Amen.

  • As old as this is, at 1:32 I couldn't help but go "Yeah, whoop. Get in there!!"

  • The Best Picture of this year was an absolutely disgraceful decision.

  • You can see Ian McKellen at 1:54.

  • What the fuck is shakespear in love?

  • @XcrazyX10 It's the worst movie ever made. Speaking as an Englishman studying Shakespeare, I can say that it officially SUCKS!!!!

  • And the 2011 Oscar for best director goes to... Terrence Malick for The Tree Of Life.

  • Steven Spielberg should have also won an award for BEST DAD!!!!! lol

  • Germany injure the human rights.Rich germans fight 18 years with my family. They essay to kill my mother me and my sister.Germans give me 14 years medicals to make me sick.My poor mother cry but germans have no pitty.

  • awsome

  • La Vita e Bella and Saving Private Ryan are both amazing movies. they both teach us what the measure of a man's life is. thank you to steven spielberg and Roberto Benigni for giving us thesetwo beautiful and wonderful mastepieces of art and cinema. and fuck you sil

  • He deserves. Thats because of him (and because of SPR) that I want be a director.

  • "savin' private ryan", and "life is beautiful".. 2 films that teach us, what mankind is able to do to each other.. in my opinion: both deserve an oscar

  • search bolder gazet van antwerpen

  • it is an outright disgrace that saving private ryan did not win best picture

  • How did Tom hanks not win the oscar for best actor and how did the film not win best picture lmao

  • PLEASE DO NOT REMAKE THIS MOVIE MR SPIELBERG

  • Way to go,Steven! Another well-deserved Oscar for what is easily one of your best films. I love it when he wins Oscars, because,in my mind,he deserves every one that he has gotten. I hope he gets nominated next year, because I want to see him win as many more as he can. As Martin Scorsese said at the Globes in 2009,"Steven Spielberg and the art of cinema. One is unthinkable without the other.'

  • Now that I've watched this clip, I do think that Roberto Danini should have won for best director for Life Is Beautiful. It was a very good film. Don't get me wrong. I like Steven Spielberg. I think he's a genius director. But I do think that other new directors should be given full credit for making brilliant films. Maybe Roberto had won. Only for some other movie before he made Life Is Beautiful.

  • "The Thin Red Line" should have won. I hate Spielberg--he's just a big script thief (check out how he stole "Amistad"). "Saving Private Ryan" was a cheap melodrama. "Shakespeare In Love" was a stolen script. Weinstein is a bully and a thug. Hollywood is just a bunch of thieves, low-lifes, drunks, drug addicts, perverts, bums and desperate wannabes. If you worship these clowns, you don't have a life.

  • The Thin Red Line was the best movie that year!

  • 1:51

Is it just me, or does that guy in the middle look so much like qb Tom Brady??

  • I can't wait for Rescuing Sargeant Brian: Curse of the Artficial Park.

  • TY 4 all u help :) ayf Michael Blair

  • 1:54

    Gandalf Approves

  • 1:52 THATS MAMA FROM THE WATERBOY!

  • @TheAsswipes69 Kathy bates asswipe kathy bates...

  • Que hablar de este otro momento, la misma alegrìa y emociòn sentì, como cuando ganò el primer oscar. Para alguien que lo sigue esto vale mucho. Muy bien merecido. ¡Grande Spielberg!

  • One of those rare years where I would have agreed with any of the winners.

  • dude has a million kids..

  • Costner sure does talk up a storm. You think he'd have learned his lesson after The Postman.

  • 2:07 what are the gesturing? Spielberg however had not made another one like it after Saving Private Ryan. i really like the concepts in Jaws and Jurassic Park

  • 37 assholes think John Madden should have won.

  • I seriously hope Peter Weir wins an Oscar one day. He's my favorite director. Picnic at Hanging Rock, Gallipoli, The Year of Living Dangerously, Witness, Dead Poets Society, The Truman Show, Master and Commander, etc. So much talent. Six nominations, no wins yet. I honestly feel he should have won for M&C, but, alas, he was up against Peter Jackson in "The Year Lord of the Rings Must Win Everything but Best Short Film," lol.

  • Can't wait till he wins for War Horse GO SPIELBERG!!!!!!!

  • I think steven spielberg more as a producer than a directore. and that is true he has like a 100 movies he has produced and not so much he has directed. THink about Christopher Nolan... Spielberg does 5 movies every year. Nolan does a movie every 2 years. Who takes his movies way more seriously. Isnt he chris nolan?? He wrote the story for inception for 10 years for example. Steven Spielberg does this these days just for money :(

  • @1Minute60Seconds I love Chris Nolan, but he will NEVER be Steven Spielberg. Accept it. Besides, Nolan is getting that way now with Man of Steel.

  • @1Minute60Seconds You realize that they slap his name on tons of movies because of the prestige. Transformers is the perfect example of that philosophy. He is not really associated with those films. He only actively produces films he is invested in or directs. The Jurassic Park franchise and Indiana Jones are perfect examples of both.

  • We thank Steven Spielberg for Saving Private Ryan

  • whos' the bloke giving the award? I know I've seen him somewhere.....

  • @ram25491 Kevin Costner.

  • @ram25491 Kevin Costner

  • Which part of Omaha beach scene in history today to teach us about the horrors of the D-Day landing were'nt allowed to watch all of it , but I've seen it before and it's amazing

  • I own the movie and I watched the movie again last night!

    What amazing masterpiece!

  • Wow Benini didn't win it....

  • How many kids does he have ?

  • @kalthoumaced

    Around seven

  • Thanks for saving Ryan's Privates Steve !!

  • That almost made me cry...awesome speech, especially towards the end!

  • Another anti-German film by Spielberg.

  • @tranmere789 really? is that what the film is about? i must of missed something.

  • @tranmere789 this is my favorite movie, but you are right, the movie should be more imparcial.

  • @tranmere789 Seriously? I'm German and I'm not offended by his movies. The teachers here show you Schindler's list in fourth grade to teach you about the horrors of WWII. We don't have a problem with him.

  • shakespeare in love should NOT have won best picture...the oscars know they f'd up...12 years later, saving private ryan is still memorable and constantly shown on television (uncut) for its horrors of war..best WWII movie EVER made..

fuck you, overrated shakespeare in love

  • EARN THIS...

  • Terrence Malick never showed up

  • watch?v=KnYAC2_hnKg

''SAVING MY PRIVATES" (2011 - tom hanks)

a MUST see video. you need a good stomach - added yesterday

  • ABOUT FUCKING TIME!!!

One more note - you give Best Director to Spielberg (Saving Private Ryan) and then Best Picture to Shakespeare in Love?

    ...Oscars, you fucking kidding me?!

  • @justforlescomments Best Picture does not mean Best Director. That's why they are in separate categories. Best Picture = Best Directing + Acting + Writing + etc. SPR is a very epic film, but it doesn't have the most unique/original screenplay and the acting is not the most astonishing thing ever.

  • @drxwnedxwxrld the current definition of best picture has nothing to do with the quality of the films but the relentless campaigning by assholes like harvey weinstein. i hate to say this, but this the film that deserves to win best picture wont win it

  • Hey Steven !

Where is E.T. now ???? Did he Forget Elliot ?? Please tell him to come to earth once more...Please..

  • Fuck Shakespeare In Love.

  • @TheYoungFilmers dude Shakespeare in Love is one of the greatest movies ever made, entertaining, funny and a good story. That doesn't mean it was better though.

  • true genius of film

  • Hey my name is Taylor Begg check out me doing my own take on a Trailways commercial!!! When you have a chance type in Taylor Begg on the search bar and check it out!!! Thanks and take care!

  • Speilberg is soooo over rated!!!!!!! but I will say that Saving Private Ryan is one of the best films he has ever directed.

  • @crazybatmantopaz overrated??? the due INVENTED the hollywood blockbuster...the guy has made more masterpieces than ANY other director in the HISTORY of filmmaking...do your research...he doesn't have to be your favorite, but overrated?? not by a long shot....e.t., jaws, close encounters, schindlers list, saving private ryan, jurassic park, indiana jones, color purple, empire of the sun, amistad, A.I., catch me if you can, munich - all good, to great, to masterpieces..

  • This not winning Best Picture is the finest example of how the academy has become more political.

  • He said it right. if it wasn't for hanks, he wouldnt be even winning that oscar.

  • @zeromant80 right...sooo the fact that he directed the best film of the year had nothing to do with it either, huh? speilberg re-defined the war genre forever with one of his many masterpieces in saving private ryan..

  • Spielberg shows the horror and brutality of war and captures the fear of those young men whereas previously the majority of movie's glorified it.

  • that should've gone to Terrence Malick....The Thin Red Line was much much deeper than Saving Private Ryan (also a good film but more hollywood-like)

  • @sitiosanguinem screw u spielberg deserved it but costner did not deserve it over scorsese in 91

  • @sitiosanguinem The thin Red Line was terrible

  • Is that Gandalf that I see at 1:55 ...? Best wizard of all time lol

  • Spielberg deserved that Oscar, but I was quite glad to see Roberto Benigni win Best Actor. And the Truman Show is an underrated soon-to-become classic. A fantastic script. I don't know why Jim Carrey wasn't nominated for Best Actor.

  • i can't believed this guy almost cried for not being nominated for Jaws and here he is

  • Saving Private Ryan should of won, but... I believe Shakespear in Love should of at least been nominated.

  • @FienStudios it was nominated.. why do you think it was even a choice? it was a nominee

  • dang Tom Hanks looked grubby with that beard...

  • @TheGeekyNinjaStudios he mightve been growing it for Cast Away haha

  • @TheGeekyNinjaStudios

I reckon it was around this time Hanks was growing hair and dropping weight for his film Castaway.

  • \m/ \m/

  • who says the music sucks in this movie? this movie features class music from one of the greatest music composers of all time: John Williams

  • Haha I love it when Malick's never on camera...

  • Help support a future feature film by clicking on a link for a kickstarter page on my channel!

  • Seems when there's a Picture/Director split the one that got Director is usually better. I won't comment on Brokeback since I prefer Capote over both those movies but seems there's usually something more solid about the movie that gets Director. So in my heart, Private Ryan won. There was a REASON it easily deserved this one. I'm no longer offended when they're not brave enough to give something Picture after it gets Director....it gives it more strength!

  • @88mphsss Rotten Tomatoes actually predicted the King's Speech to win Picture while The Social Network to win for Director, but KS took both. Brokeback I think deserved Picture, but haven't seen Capote. It was the same case in 2000, when Gladiator won Best Picture, but Ridley Scott lost Director.

  • i'm just happy terrence malick and the thin red linme got regonition

  • Steven, I want to watch your more materpiece movie and I still wait..

  • I love that Spielberg got to mention his mother when he won for Schindler's List and mention his father when he won for Saving Private Ryan. Truly blessed man indeed.

  • In all honesty... how the hell did Saving Private Ryan lose Best Picture to SHAKESPEAR IN LOVE?!? NO ONE remembers that movie.... NO ONE.

  • @Chompobar Liberally hollywood that's why.

  • 2:40 THE BEARD!!!!!!

  • matt.damon.looks.hot!!!!

  • It makes me so sad watching this, because I know that SPR didn't end up winning Best Picture...

  • With regards to Saving Private Ryan, there were three World War II films nominated (Saving Private Ryan, The Thin Red Line, and Life is Beautiful). I think the votes ended up canceling each other out.

  • I think it was a great year for film, including Shakespeare in Love. I mean, Shakespeare in Love still did win seven Oscars, two more than Saving Private Ryan. My theory as to why Saving Private Ryan didn't win? I think it hit too close to home during the time.

As far as robbery goes that year, how about The Truman show not getting nominated for Best Picture or Jim Carrey for Best Actor? I'd rather watch The Truman Show over Elizabeth.

  • at 2.08 nick nolte looks pissed off

take a look at hes face

  • @MultiPlayaaa lol I noticed that too! Dude looks like he's not having a good time at all.

  • '98 was the robbery of the century. Shakespeare in Love was a good film, by SPR was and is a absolute classic.

  • People keep buying their copies of Saving Private Ryan and fathers show the film to their sons to teach them about the horrors of WWII.

Shakespeare In Love....................................................sorry, I forgot about that last one, anyone remembers?

  • @apologyisnothepolicy yeah that is so true. This movie doesn't glamorize anything about war it's really in your face just like Band of brothers which was undoubtedly the best mini series ever made along with the Pacific. This is what I like about Steven Spielberg. He doesn't fuck around

  • @apologyisnothepolicy Didn't even bother watching it. Saving Private Ryan forever.

  • @apologyisnothepolicy if you can't see why saving private ryan didn't win best picture, then you dont know the academy at all lol. i want you to go look at how many oscars spielberg has right now, and then think about how many he would have if saving private ryan if he had won. and then think about the other special someone that the has 4 academy awards. then it will make absolute sense why the academy didn't want to give speilberg his fourth oscar. i think we all know who the special somene is.

  • @apologyisnothepolicy Well, some people do. Mostly the theatre guys.

  • @apologyisnothepolicy i prefer the thin red line because the war is not about saving anyone it's only about loss

  • JOHN MADDEN WAS ROBBED. TOUGH ACTIN WITH TINACTIN BITCHES.

  • He is the director who put all this stupid cheap lines and emoness in all the movies... and now people are following his stupid shit.. wut else can he do without big fucking budget..

  • Anyone else get chills once the music kicked in?

  • @extreme101010

    Damn! Who doesn't?!

When I hear Hymn to the Fallen, I really do picture myself walking through a veterans cemetery picturing their ghosts walking behind me. Awesome theme and a totally deserved award!

  • tom hanks, funny guy

  • Isn't that the same guy that directed Jurassic Park?

  • Saving Private Ryan is a good film ...but I think The Thin Red Line was much, much deeper

  • He should've won again in 2002 for Minority Report!

  • @PlanetMan77 Science fiction movies don't win Best Director or Best Picture categories.

  • @adriantheloser

Mainly because sci-fi films are not released in the 'oscar' months. Inception for example, released in June (i think) 2010; dominated the box office for the remain of 2010; most original piece of screenwriting since Memento; best film in 2010; but because it was released in June and it is a Sci-fi, it didn't win the big ones.

  • Must've been sucked to be Jessica that night (Spielberg's daughter).

  • @V4Vman93 lol sounds like he really regretted having her

  • The day Saving Private Ryan didn't win best picture is the same day the academy lost all credibility ever. The end.

  • that steven spielberg is best known as a war Director for Saving Private Ryan

    and schindller's list ?

  • Good decision, Spielberg deserved the Oscar. Private Ryan is a very good movie.

  • wtf this movie is amazing ... is already a classic ...

  • the only good decision the academy made that night

  • isn't he ashamed for being the worst actor for that year '' the postman ''

  • Saving the fuck private ryan

  • unbelievable! - one of the worlds f*cked up movies won here! Saving private ryan is probably the worst shit I have ever seen!

  • @M1cktion bolas chupar

  • gotta love save ryans priv OH i ment saving private ryan

  • MUST SEE!

The Last Days of the Big Lie is a documentary which debunks the disgusting liars glorified as victims and heroes in the Steven Spielberg produced, Academy Award winning fictional Holocaust “documentary” The Last Days.

    youtube.com/watch?v=-48HQpgQRz0

  • I'm not a ''believer'' or anything but man, how can a SINGLE MAN make SO MANY amazing creations in just a few decades. I dont get it. He's the greatest, no doubt.

  • wow...he TOTALLY forgot about Jessica

  • The best picture this year was Elizabeth!!!!!!

    Hate Saving Ryan

  • IT Sounded like Steven ACTUALLLY SAVED privat ryan...awesome

  • IT Sounded like Steven ACTUALLLY SAVED privat ryan...awsome

  • IT Sounded if Steven ACTUALLLY SAVED privat ryan...awsome

  • I like Steve but Saving Private ryan is the most overrated and exploitative movie that I have ever seen.

  • I don't know the story behind it but it is pretty sad that he pointed out only two of his kids being at the oscars when actually three of his kids were there; the third being Jessica from his previous marriage. If I were jessica, I would've been heart broken when he only pointed out the two initially.

  • @mistyblus2

jessica probably has gone to the oscars before

  • kevin costner is hot, and still is!

  • "imaging radars" +"math forum" google.com.

  • I just LOVE Speilberg, hes such an honest to god family man.

  • Jesus how much many is this guy going to make off of WW2 alone? Great filmmaker, but seriously, enough exploiting all the aspects of WW2

  • @cb9603 Hell he can make as much money as he wants for all I care,I love the WWII films he makes,He deserves it

  • @cb9603 dude how creative are you for bringing 'exploiting ww2' in context with Steven Spielberg making this movie. We're all alowed to have opinions, but there always are a couple of people who bring things totally out of context, damn.
