cool effect. thanks for sharing this technique. i would like to see this effect taken one level higher by having the person walking out of the back room collect the packages that are "frozen" in mid air, and walk away with them. Then, when the first person "un-freezes" the packages will be gone.

Hey, I like your tutorials. I currently have Vegas Pro 6. The new Vegas10 HD Platinum suites can do a lot for the price, can they do the masking as described in this tutorial..? I would hate to have to spend an extra 450$ just to get that feature..

I love your tutorials... A little tip for others: If you have Photoshop or another photo editing program you can export the save still frame and cut it out in that it its easier and can give you a cleaner cut. Hope that helps.

Can you do this with the crop function?

Like, if you had the footage with the fly swatter far enough on the right, then crop off the left hand side of the frame say along the door frame, then superimpose that onto the right hand side of the footage of you walking through the door.

I know it wouldn't be as cool coz u wouldn't appear to walk from behind yourself, but I need to do a similar effect where I could do it like this.

Would it even work? My computer's broke atm, so I can't try it out!

the bad thing about the effect is that you can see the shadow disappear so just a tip .. try to make the shadow be somewhere else and you won't see the shadow disappear.. but still good.

Great tutorial, but you'll have to watch out with lights because, as visible in your piece of film with the effect, your shadow disappears when the other clip starts and comes back as soon as it continues. So, if you're going to use this effect, watch out for that.

But, again, nice tutorial.
