i dont think this is a different "dialect", it's the accent/tone, every major chinese province has its own accents. Each big city has its own "accent" that sounds slightly different from putonhua

Agree. The song is not in a different dialect from Mandarin. It is still Mandarin but with a different accent. I read somewhere that the singer is from a northern region of china and that is why his mandarin sounds like that.
