I am very proud to announce that I have gone over 15 weeks without viewing pornography, after being addicted for 7 years! Porn addiction is real, and can destroy your entire perception on the reality of sex. You can NEVER receive any long term satisfaction from viewing pornography. It is an endless 'hunger' that forces you to view more hardcore and dirty material from pornography. It takes a very strong person to admit that he, or she, has had an addiction, but has succeeded to overcome it.

Some people who drink alcohol occasionally will not become alcoholics. Same thing with porn users. Only some people will actually become addicted. As for the 'hunger' issue, some people have different levels of tolerance. Your tolerance may stay low for a while, but I can promise you that you will eventually have the urge to view stronger versions of pornography.

I too thought that I could stay within my 'level zone' of pornography. But eventually I had to watch more hardcore material. I first thought that I would never need that stronger 'dosage' of porn. But as my tolerance grew, I became bored of what I was watching. It's very similar to cocaine addicts. Throughout the years, they have to increase the dosage in order to feel that same level of 'high'. Like you, I ignored the possible dangers of pornography.
Porn addiction does not affect all porn viewers. Some people can watch it without any form of dependency. But let me ask you this, can you really last 2 weeks without watching any form of porn, while at the time not have any urge or desire to watch it? Porn addiction always starts out has a small innocent hobby. Then throughout the years, you can't get enough of it, then it controls you. I'm 19, have a girlfriend and have plenty of sex, but I still watch porn once in a while. As long as you're not using it to substitute for your love life I don't see how its a problem. Of course being a total addict is not healthy. That goes for any addiction. However, I believe that watching porn and channeling out your needs is much better and healthier than suppressing them over a long period of time.

It was in response to someone that said that porn ought to be boycotted BECAUSE it is a dangerous profession with exploitation, which just sounds to me like another Christian staying away from another thing without even knowing why. They might have a feeling that porn is bad, or they were told it was bad, and thus without scriptual reason they avoid it and make up random reasons as to why everyone else should once they're questioned.
I'm not clueless. I was once a fundamentalist evangelical Christian, but after research I learned where Christianity came from and I don' t believe it anymore. I don't feel any need to de-convert Christians (everyone has a right to what makes them happy). Yet I still hold Christians accountable to their own standards of logic. Exploitation can be seen in thousands of professions, so it was an illegitimate defense for boycotting porn.

Your right, Salvation is available to anyone who is willing to call upon the name of the Lord. This requires a commitment to begin living a disciplined lifestyle for Jesus. I am very proud to announce that I have gone over 15 weeks without viewing pornography, after being addicted for 7 years! Porn addiction is real, and can destroy your entire perception on the reality of sex. You can NEVER receive any long term satisfaction from viewing pornography. It is an endless 'hunger' that forces you to view more hardcore and dirty material from pornography. It takes a very strong person to admit that he, or she, has had an addiction, but has succeeded to overcome it.

Some people who drink alcohol occasionally will not become alcoholics. Same thing with porn users. Only some people will actually become addicted. As for the 'hunger' issue, some people have different levels of tolerance. Your tolerance may stay low for a while, but I can promise you that you will eventually have the urge to view stronger versions of pornography.

As long as you aren't doing anything illegal and your partner is fine with it, it's all good.The problem with porn usage is when you have to hide it and lie. That is a deeper issue than the porn use. I'm not going to lie and say there is no such thing as porn addiction, but I often for for a week or two without viewing it.

I too thought that I could stay within my 'level zone' of pornography. But eventually I had to watch more hardcore material. I first thought that I would never need that stronger 'dosage' of porn. But as my tolerance grew, I became bored of what I was watching. It's very similar to cocaine addicts. Throughout the years, they have to increase the dosage in order to feel that same level of 'high'. Like you, I ignored the possible dangers of pornography.

I'm 19, have a girlfriend and have plenty of sex, but I still watch porn once in a while. As long as you're not using it to substitute for your love life I don't see how its a problem. Of course being a total addict is not healthy. That goes for any addiction. However, I believe that watching porn and channeling out your needs is much better and healthier than suppressing them over a long period of time.

Its about the fact that you have decided you want to be with this person forever! ..only then can you know that you can give your whole body to them without becoming hurt!

I'm not sure whether you're asking seriously. If you are really interested, consider watching anything by Shelley Lubben. I've also read some excerpts from Jenna Jameson's autobiography that were particularly enlightening. I think that the number of women who would truly enjoy being a porn star is exceedingly small. It seems that most porn stars don't have another option--they're trapped in a dangerous profession.

I was trapped in a dangerous profession of customer service until I got fired for the 3rd time. No more. Now I'm a happy musician. But the fact that I was exploited at Gamestop and Red Lobster are not good reasons for Christians to boycott those places.

Someone made a point about boycotting porn because making them is exploitive and dangerous. We should boycott all buildings, too, if that were the case. These people get paid tiny amounts of money to risk their lives making the schools, houses, skyscrapers, and churches. Boycott them all.

This is the dumbest thing I have read in a while, that's saying a lot for YouTube comments. GameStop and Red Lobster aren't inherently sinful, just your bosses. Their is NOTHING NOT sinful about porn. The producers, directors, actors and writers are all writing to exhalt lust and sexual sin. YES it should be boycotted. Not the same thing. Please don't argue this as it's only going to make you appear even more clueless.

Azrael24, you took what I said out of context . It was in response to someone that said that porn ought to be boycotted BECAUSE it is a dangerous profession with exploitation, which just sounds to me like another Christian staying away from another thing without even knowing why. They might have a feeling that porn is bad, or they were told it was bad, and thus without scriptual reason they avoid it and make up random reasons as to why everyone else should once they're questioned.

I'm not clueless. I was once a fundamentalist evangelical Christian, but after research I learned where Christianity came from and I don' t believe it anymore. I don't feel any need to de-convert Christians (everyone has a right to what makes them happy). Yet I still hold Christians accountable to their own standards of logic. Exploitation can be seen in thousands of professions, so it was an illegitimate defense for boycotting porn.

If I understand in the correct context, you're saying your dangerous positions trapped in customer service at Gamestop/Red Lobster were equivalent to the danger a woman trapped in the porn industry faces?
Also, whenever possible I boycott other industries that put people in danger or exploit them. The "why" is valuing other human life. Should I boycott Red Lobster?

Jesus would put women before politics. The reality of the porn industry is that the women in the industry are hurt over and over. I'd be in favor of laws that protect them.

My advice, based on experience dealing with sin/temptation? Talk to God about it. Have an alternative to click on your p.c.
Porn never delivers all it promises, like every temptation. Afterwards you feel bad about yourself. It's tough, to MAKE THAT DECISION, not to click on a porn site - same as any other sin we commit - it's difficult to say 'no', but it is possible, if we stay in contact with God, and ask Him to help us deal with it. Small steps, moment by moment.

Your right, Salvation is available to anyone who is willing to call upon the name of the Lord. This requires a commitment to begin living a disciplined lifestyle for Jesus. Thats why they called them disciples. But I encourage you to read the bible, seek God and ask him to reveal himself to you. He loved us enough to die for everyone. I have enjoyed our chat BJ. Put focus on other things. If you don't have anything to do, take a walk. If you're bored, go watch a movie or call a friend. If the bible is your favorite amusement, off read a few chapters or even start with sports. Counseling, sure. It's all individual.
Even animals jack off once in a while, it doesn't make you a bad person. People feel bad about themselves as it is. But if you're going around thinking about this, on a daily basis, you should consider getting some professional help.

Sorry, but all these references to the Bible won't do it. How come you have to be Christian in order to get out of an addiction? Being religious IS an addiction.
I won't go into that any further, though. If you think it's wrong, quit; if not, don't. Personally, I'd say it's something you'd be better off without, but it's not like you could kill the sex drive even if you wanted to. Pills, perhaps.
