Wow! Those Roseline Sharks (aka Dennison Barbs, aka Indian Roseline Sharks, aka Torpedo barbs) have an amazingly distinct red coloration! How old are they, and have they always been that way, or did they develop more deeply red as time passed? I have 3, and I've been hoping to see them pop out the red like yours! Hopefully someday they will (mine are still young, about 9 months, and 3" so far). Stop by my channel and take a look. I'm welcome to advice on getting mine to look like yours do!
If you do research on Black Moor Goldfish, then you will find that they actually like the same temperatures as tropical fish. Black Moors are not nearly as happy when they are in cold water like most other goldfish. Black Moors are one of the few goldfish that will be quite happy with tropical fish as long as the aquarium is big enough.
@mattsoccer20 hey, i'm the original bluee9903. anyway, my barbs were already like that when I got it from the pet shop and it colored it even more after a day in my tank with the dark gravel and feeding them bloodworms. fyi, only the males are colorful.
haha cool....its funny how sometimes things just work out.....i have a goldfish, 2 blood parrots a molly and a guppy living together....and they get along fine!
yes, goldfish can sometimes be kept with tropical fish as long as they dont need like 80 degrees or saltwater. like goldfish and danios will sometimes work if you find a good temp and have at least a 30 gallon tank
So long as the temp isn't too high, they are fairly adaptable (sudden changes are bad), although have a tendency to turn gold if kept in warmer water (one of mine started to last summer)!
Main problem with combo you have is not the temperature; the fish are not really compatible. Moor are not naturally hectic fish so it's likely to get stressed out and may have trouble competing for food if you aren't careful with it.
@lindso82 thanks. The goldfish actually did compete well against the tropical fish during feeding time, believe it or not, but my "experiment" didn't last. You're right about the compatibility; my black ruby barbs eventually nipped its fins, so I took the goldfish out. I've been in this hobby for 14 years and sometimes, I try this or that for a challenge or just for the hell of it even though I know it's not right...
@BlueE9903 I know what you mean.. Everywhere in literature and most peoples' optinions there's strong feeling about keeping bubble-eye goldfish with more "robust" goldfish and/or tank decor. My bubble is in with fantails and a moor, as well as a fair bit of decor, and he's always been fine.. has no worries competing (in fact he bashes the others out of the way with his bubbles) and is perfectly capable of manouvering the ridiculous bubbles on his face out of harm's way!
@BlueE9903 lol.. suppose that was a bit of a random bubble-eye tangent! He's pretty cool, very cartoon-like expression. Big fan of my others as well tho (gold fantail and black moor seem to be doing their damnedest to breed with each other at the moment.. could be interesting if they succeed).
Couldn't afford a heater when I first started out so got into goldfish.. Learned v quickly they are not easier or cheaper to keep than tropicals! The work made me appreciate them more tho.
@lindso82 I totally agree that goldfish (the fancy ones) are a challenge to keep. First of all, they're bred to have egg-shaped bodies, which make them waddle as they swim (kinda cute), but prone to swim-bladder problems. I've read that if you feed them pellets, you should soak them first and this will help prevent swim-bladder disorders. Supposedly....I did that, but my ryukin still went belly-up!
@BlueE9903 Only my bubble seems to have any issues sometimes after feeding.. but it has found a spot at the front of the tank where it can wedge itself between a plant and the tank wall to stop itself floating while it digests.. No joke, it seems to know exactly what it is doing coz he does it every time!
I feed them peas too; don't know who first came up with that as a solution (every one seems to cite it) but it works a treat.
@lindso82 You got a smart goldfish! Actually, goldfish aren't that stupid and it's a myth that they have a few seconds memory. They can recognize the person that feeds them and can even be taught tricks! Have you seen comet, the world's smartest goldfish?
Yeah, my fish will be just chilling, but when I move or get up they go nuts hoping for food. I have to keep changing up the feeding slightly too since they learn; I had been hand-feeding the fantail near the surface while dropping food at the same time to the moor and bubble at the bottom so everyone gets fair shares, but the fantail figured it out and started waiting at the bottom too.. Greedy pig! Even my minnows and Danios know what's coming when dif. parts of their tank lid are removed.
@BlueE9903 There is a vid of my goldfish for you. Again, the quality isn't the best, but my camera isn't amazing and the tank is pretty shiny. Also a fair bit of random noise, someone coughing, various racket coming from my rats' cage (which is just next to this tank).
You can see what I was talking about though, with Bubble and his spot in the corner for chilling and chewing/digesting after a big meal!
..There's another vid of him being a greedy pig uploading at the mo, should be live soon.
Oh, I subbed you too, so feel free to sub me back... if you find any videos of interest on my channel (I have a ton of viewing opportunities).

Everything is cool, the black moors enjoy the tropics just as much as the rest of us. Will boost its growth though.

@lindso82 Can you upload a video of them? just curious...
BlueE9903 1 year ago
Have uploaded a pretty rubbish video of my desk-top tank:
- Marty (Zebra Danio) - Goldie and Rosie (Golden/Rosy Minnows) - Spot (Leopard Danio) - Filigree (Golden Danio) - Aries (Ramshorn snail) - Gigantor (the other big fat snail, possibly a common pond-snail?)
My friends' little girl made me name them as she was horrified at the idea they had no names!
Will try and get a couple of the goldfish on here when my camera battery is charged.

@lindso82 Don't try, DO!
Gigantor, haha, I remember that name from that movie, night at the museum...
