The project does not get government funding bacause that would open it to governemnt oversight and reveal ther lack of funds going to the actual work.
The Native Americans chose Mr. Korchak to sculpt this wonderful, amazing monument for them. I was lucky to see it nearly forty years ago, and they are making steady progress, considering how massive it really is.
This is no honor, no true memorial it gives no reason for an Oglala Lakota to be proud. This carving desecrates the sacred black hills. This fake memorial is another trophy of euro american conquest honoring their pride and boast about the indigenous holocaust of north america. To desecrate nature is to desecrate the creator. This is a disgrace to humanity & the spirit of crazy horse and his people. This carving is another disgusting scar, made by the white man for the white man
scam dont go save your money. If they wanted it done they would just accept federal funds. Plus its owned by a white family what more do i have to say.
How is it a scam? And maybe if you actually looked around, watched the videos, asked questions.... you would know why they don't accept federal funding. Just because it's owned by a white family doesn't mean anything...
Do you think a white family would ever finish a monument to honor Native Americans? They don't want it done. they make more money from it incomplete. The crazy horse memorial fund goes to line the pockets of the many Ziolkowski surviving relatives. This property is also one of the largest muck (blasted rock) operations in the world. They make the most money from this enterprise.
@scottisaak : For heavens sake these people are carving a MOUNTAIN. Did you think it would be finished in a week??? It's too bad that the Ziolkowski family couldn't finish it last year just to please you.
Its changed a ton actually it's just hard to see, they are working on removing a large amount of rock around the horses head. If you go to their website and compare the pictures from the past 8 years you can see that a substantial amount of progress has been made.
