  • I love my FT-950, had it for two years and not a day has gone by that it has let me down. Wish I could say the same for my other rigs....... 73'S K2TOD

  • Great video and wonderful information.

I've been eyeing the FT-950 for some time now. I currently have a couple Kenwoods. A TS-450SAT and a TS-950SAT. The new TS-590S looks wonderful, but is $350 more expensive then the FT-950.

How is the Auto Tuner on FT-950?

    73's!

  • @gmjones2001. Greetings. Thanks for watching my videos. Given the two choices, I would lend toward the 950. It feels and works like a real radio :-). Although, the TS-450 is a cool radio too. I like 'em both. But I would give an edge to the FT-950. Best regards. AI4QT

  • Hi Will, just curious if you still have this Rig?? Thinking of Purchasing one...

  • Since you have had a 746pro in the past, how would you fair the RX performance between the that radio and the 950, are they similar in sensitivity / selectivity? How about the IF DSP filters , is the 950 a better performer in that respect or do they also fare the similar?

  • @ilovenbcnews The 746 Pro made have had a slight edge on receive and transmit, but due to the three failures of the radio in less than a year (although Icom did repair it), I could not now recommend the 746 Pro (of course, now Icom has stopped its production). Overall, the Yaesu 950 IS THE BETTER RADIO, no doubt. 73 AI4QT

  • CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR PURCHASE. You will enjoy the 950. I do use an external tuner--- not that I don't like the built-in one, I just have always liked external tuners. If you're using a dipole for a particular band, I don't think you have any problems tuning. The G5RV may be a little more challenging. But if I recall, when I did use the built-in AT for the 950, it was able to tune the G5RV. Enjoy the 950!!!

  • @AI4QT Just passed General, and am playing with an old FT707. Have been looking at a used FT950 to use as my main means of operation. Thanks for posting this. I have yet to make up my mind as to the expenditure, but the old 707 is getting a little long in the tooth but it will make a good backup. 73 and thanks again.

  • CONGRATULATIONS ON THE PASSING of General. You will enjoy HF!!!!

  • I just received my FT-950! Moving to new QTH soon so she's not yet up and going. Looking forward to getting her on the air. Might be using a 20m dipole to start out with,...does your built-in tuner tune a 20m dipole without any problems or do you have to use an external tuner to tune your G6RV?

  • thinking about buying it aso

what is the cost for it now?? should I wait christtmas time will get better deal?

  • It's a BIG radio for sure. Very large footprint, but I truly like the radio. I think most people complain about adjusting all the buttons, etc every so often. I usually leave well enough alone once I have the radio set to my liking. 73 from AI4QT in Huntsville AL.

  • Hello,

What do you think of this radio receiver?

some say is a bit 'noisy, others .. otherwise what is the truth'?

I would be willing to take, I'm watching many videos on this radio!

It 'very nice to me, I heard about the frequency and has a nice modulation.
