  • Sweeeet song

  • Such a shame this band has split up.

Though i like Ed solo, i like him more with Live. I'm so hoping they will get back together someday, been fan of these guys from beginning, and some songs gives me such strenght to get trough hard times.

I love you LIVE! For now and for ever.

  • Love this band. One of the best stand out vocalist ever.

    (only an opinion)

  • I have every Live album and this is my favorite song. I've been to so many of their concerts, but have never seen the song performed live.

  • biggest song...

  • One of the greatest songs ever...the lyrics are amazin'...just use some imagination and a bit of thought.....SEE.....Fuckin' Awesome!!!!

  • One of the greatest songs ever...the lyrics are amazin'...just use some imagination and a bit of thought.....SEE.....Fuckin' Awesome!!!!

  • Obrigado live...

  • I don't believe the shit he says about it being about the working man for a min.. Why are you lying.. thats bad! You are a muse for ppl like me.. To inspire ppl who are the ones who act upon things to change this world... That is your purpose.. Its important you don't lie...

  • here I am locking horns with the stallion

failing to hold my head up, I'll go back again

pillar of davidson feeling to hard to go down

cheaper than all the souls he will walk upon

deeper and deeper in love so I hold my head up

cheaper than all the souls he will walk upon

pillar of davidson feeling to hard to go down

  • Thank You!!! :)

  • What is going on here!!!!!! How can Ed accept this? He could sit down with a bass guitarist and a rhythm guitarist alone and a blow a hole through the crowd with this powerful song! Yet here he is with a flakey version and some BS keyboard stuff going on. *sigh* come on Ed you can't let this sort of thing happen!

  • This is a perfect example of how a song is made with the utmost passion that comes from deep down inside... the fact that he is relating it to his hometown... very touching.

  • I used to love this song til I saw this LOL WTF?

  • So any one thing the back up singer on the "old bad eyes" part sounds like ed? i am pretty sure it is his Brother singing that part and playing the rythm guitar... he often toured with them.

  • do his shoes have ball bearings?

  • What are the chords for 'almighty fear'?

  • Hmmm, OK after listening to the comment about people working for the "man". I hope that they are sympathising and not mocking because of course not everyone can be in a band.... most people work at jobs paid by the hour and they are greatful for those jobs to keep them afloat. Rock bands should never forget that their listeners are in that kind of situation.

  • @catkisser , i am from that town, York, PA, and no, they are not mocking at all, i don't see how you could possibly even begin to think that

  • @catkisser Amen brother, I worked for the 'Man' for 8 years and that's a tough gig. Been lucky for the last 10 years, where maybe I'm the man now. Respect to you.

I think the band are respecting those who work. Peace brother.

  • @catkisser Er, that'll be sister then. x

  • I haven't been able to love ALL of Live's songs but this, and anything on "Throwing Copper" is golden.

  • Ed's voice is simply incredible!

  • "Throwing Copper" is one of my favorite albums ever. Thank you so much for posting!

  • Great sentiment, hat's off to those working for The Man, it sucks.

I have become The Man, and it's good. Peace.

  • Wow what an incredible performance! Live is definitely one of the top 5 groups of the 90's, and absolutely underrated!

  • Throwing Copper got all the glory and air play and it was great, but Mental Jewelry is a fucking masterpiece from start to finish. A young band with a really old soul. It's still relevant.

  • Ooooooooh YESSSSS!!!!!!

  • These guys are my inspiration to sing. I take that back. Ed is the inspiration to my music.

  • I want them back!

  • I'm not a musician so I don't know what it is called, but at the end when the backup singers start an alternate chorus (counter-chorus?), it is freaking awesome. It sounds almost like Gregorian chanting.

  • I saw Live 'live' back in 1997, it was a great show,,,

  • I bet it was!

  • My life won't be complete until I see Live "live"! It's a shame that the band says they'll no longer have Ed as their lead singer. Watching this song, it makes it hard to believe that he's greedy, and demanded $100k as alleged by the guitarist in the group.

  • I sure can get lost in this song.

  • eddie has cool eyebows

  • Love the song the album and the band - but hes performance is a bit cheesy :o(

  • This is the shit!!!

  • Throwing Copper is the best album I ever heard from Live. Off course I collected their all album. But nothing beat this one. It's a lot of improvisation and spontaneous music such as Stage, Iris, TOP and or White Discussion. Great Album!

  • this is an amazing song

  • Badass. I agree with some of you, Throwing Copper was the best.

  • Was it because Throwing Copper was so damn great that they never matched it again? Not a single effort after this album even matched even a song in this.

  • Have you listen to Secret Samadhi? it has so many great songs on there, if you like Live you prob will like various tracks in that album

  • thank you for posting your a star

  • I remember seeing them play this back during the Throwing Copper tour, it was so incredible. I'll always have a soft spot for Live, but I wish they'd write music this moving again.

  • cool until he has his little diatribe in the middle of it......

  • Thanks for posting this! awesome!

  • God I love these guys. Best band around!

  • Agreed. My favourite band of all time. Menttal Jewellery, Thrwing Copper, Secret Samahdi and The distance to here were all awesome. Im not sure what happened to them after that, they kind of lost the power or passion to go off. It would be great if they could power up again. Did you hear me Ed?

  • Savršeno!!!

  • S2 incredible song

  • Absolutely Incredible.

  • working for the man. LMAO

  • they did just release a dvd/cd,not sure if this 1 is on it

  • his charisma scares me

  • what is ed doing with his feet ?

(a bit more practice and he could do the moonwalk ;D )

    I love this band !

  • No, there isn't a dvd for this concert, unless someone burned the concert to a dvd and sells them, but I doubt it.

By the way, I love this song, and thanks for posting this video!

  • This has to be one of the greatest songs ever written!!

  • Live is simply the best. No one will ever beat them.

  • no ones gonna beat you ed...your the best...!!!!looking forward for you to have a comeback concert here in vancouver

  • Great performance!!! but could do without the keyboards

  • yeah I love Live but this album is much better the way it was originally recorded and performed, without keyboards. Maybe if it was a better keyboard sound, it just sounds really fake.

  • wow i dont understand how you can like this band but not this song....this is one of their greatest

  • I listen to this every day when i was in high school.. great finally saw one here in youtube!

  • This is a nice version of this song! But I agree with some of the previous reactions. Their first three albums are true pieces of art! Everything after that is fairly average! I hope they will strike back one day with a great album! But it is true that they have been together for almost 20 years now and you can't write great songs on and on for 20 years in a row!

  • The chorus of this song is the greatest musical composition ever. Period.

    That is all.

  • @kravitz75 I wouldn't say the best ever, but it is very, very good.

  • Wow, this performance OWNS.....

  • A nation, a world in tears

    united in grief and loss

    A tragedy so large

    the loss so pervasive

the depth of emotions so great

no words can truly convey the mood

  • they've got a right to try to diversify with different instruments, they have been together since 1989 this song came out in 94, it doesnt really work for their song but they tried, last 2 albums have been very average, i love the chances they took on the V album, earlier shit is all perfect, i think since TDTH their problem has been the selections of what they release as singles, makes them seem very 'adult contemporary'

  • fenomenos !!!

  • bro fuck that corny ass keyboard nonsense.

they do it better just them 4.

  • piano is the thinking man's instrument

  • My favoritest song ever !!!!

  • Live's live performance of "Pillar of Davidson".

  • This whole CD is awesome...thanks!

  • i love this song.. and this band.

  • i cant wait until Allentown, hope they play waterboy

  • This is an awesome version of a great song. One of their best from a time when they were still so passionate about their song writing. Tops!!

  • Yep got it. I love it. Its not that they're (ED) not writing passionate songs I guess what I meant to say is that there was a lot more angst and unpredictability about their songs back then. These days as much as I love the fact that they've matured I just get sick of the fact that their songs seem a little more formulated these days.

  • Its ok. nothing great though. The first 3 discs are far superior to the rest of their catalog. TDTH is a good disc on its own, but doesn't have the punch of the first 3. The last 3 have been painfully average.

  • Agreed 100%. Though I think "Overcome," "Simple Creed," "Deep Enough," and "Like A Soldier" save V from being completely forgettable. BOP and SFBM don't do anything for me.

  • shame about that. We're all different

  • wonderful song!

  • I definitly gotta agree with catkisser. Secret Sahmadi was ...O.k.. I really wish they coulda done alot better with the rest of their stuff. But, Throwing Copper is probably one of my favorite CDs of all time

  • I used to have this as an mp3 and I put it on a cd which was horrible quality, so thanks for putting this up! I saw Live for the first about a month and a half before this show, so it brings back memories.

  • amazing song. but with every great band they lose allegiance fast. unfoutunate ..yes. tragic...yes but they have power to move mountains!

  • One of the best songs of Live... :). This "live" version is not as good as the record... too bad, it's a shame... I love this guys. My favourite band ;D. I know nobody will be agree with me, but the best album was Secret Samadhi :D.

  • I've to agree about this not being the best version. I hope to eventually hear them live though. ^^v

And I say that the best was "Distance." It introduced me to Live and I found the music to be very beautiful.

  • I almost agree with you. I absolutley LOVE Secret Samdhi. I am biased to Throwing Copper because it was the first of their work I heard. And it was the first rock tape I owned (was in middle school).

  • Actually I think "Throwing Copper" is their third best album. The best being "Secret Samadhi" and the second best being "Mental Jewelry."

  • Thanks so much for posting! I LOVE the "Throwing Copper" album, although have not been able to work up much enthusiasm for the rest of their offerings.
