  • Nice, I am surprised that you have encountered a couple of problems with that little smith though

  • Hickock, I love your videos on this gun. I own one, love it, its all I ever wanted and more. You however have mastered this gun I am amazed everytime you hit the gong with this gun. How far exactly is the gong? I wish I had a place like yours to shoot at, if I did I would go broke in no time. Great shooting

  • @priestof1 80 yards

  • Well, I'm more than a little disappointed in what has been going on with this M&P I have been hearing some negatives about S&W QC lately, is this it? - Or is this just a BAD gun in respect to prone to problems...?

  • Hm, cracked slide and now the front sight falls off - on the new slide? That may be one heck of a coincidence but I'm not feeling warm and fuzzy about S&W.

  • Judging from your video, this gun doesn't seem accurate =P i've seen you have a higher hit ratio on the gong and animal targets with the bersa!

  • @5:50 you can see the bullet come in on what seems like an arced trajectory .. hit "The Gong" and bounce off into the leaves.. I dunno just seemed neat to me to watch the bullet come in, strike, and fall to the ground.

  • Hickok for top shot!

  • do you prefer M&P 40 C to a glock 23? is there much difference between these two modells?

    what is considerably different?

  • I bought a brand new Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm and I lost the paint on my front sight before I had gone through my First box of Ammo. I just ordered some new sights that I like better, but S&W needs to get on that problem! Also mine came with a "Laserlyte" brand rear sight laser, I have hated it since I started shooting with it, I cant get through one clip without the screw cap for batteries coming loose, cant wait for my new sights! Other than that Gun is Amazing!!! Looking to buy a compact M&P!

  • @MrRainingBrass The same thing happened to me. S&W told me to get some paint or send it back, I did the paint and I seem to shoot left and low so much that I went and had my eyes checked today which other than the need for reading glasses, I am fine. What sights did you get? Other than the sight problem I love it.

  • I also have and I carry the M&P40c. I've shot thousands of rounds through it and not a single jam. Although I cant remove the slide with the trigger pull trick I have to take the tool out and move that pin. Also never heard of the sights flying off. Love your range and videos keep them coming. Im sure you make the ammo companys happy buying all that ammo.

  • Sorry I saw this is the newer video. Is the slide cracking still an issue with these pistols, or has S&W figured it out?

  • how much does this gun cost?

  • @bigboy751000 you'll spend close to $600 for a brand new one

  • Just inserting the mag raises the seer pin.

  • the best thing i take away from this video: S&W takes care of their customer, and in this day and age that is a rare thing...makes me want to buy a Smith

  • Another great video, thanks hickok45!

  • Hi, thanks for your videos. They're great. I just bought my first handgun, a S&W Sigma 9mm. What are your thoughts on this gun? I'm curious because I've been having quite a few FTF with Remington UMC ammo due to weak primer strikes. No stove pipes or anything, but lots FTF. I keep the gun immaculately clean and only shoot 50-100 rds at every range visit. I guess my real question is, have you ever shot Remington UMC ammo and if so, have you had these problems? Thank you

  • @RizzoRat I know that the Sigma has lots of reported problems, and FTF is one of them I'm pretty sure.

  • @kcchiefs9690 Yeah, the more I read about them and the more I shoot it, the more I want to sell it...and maybe replace it with a Beretta 92fs.

  • Wow, first the cracked slide and then the front sight? My Taurus pt145 is better than that. I just bought a smith and wesson sd9 and this video scares me a little. I guess I should just HOPE the slide stays together on it. My next gun will be a glock for sure!

  • Typical S&W. They have great customer service because they get a lot of practice these days. First the slide is cracked and then the white dot comes out of the front sight of the new slide that was sent back. This is S&W's fault and no one Else's.

  • The compact models seem to be a little more prone to problems than the full size. I own a M&P 45 and have put close to 2,000 problem free rounds through it. I own Glocks and Springfield 1911's and none have been as reliable as my Smith&Wesson

  • The white front dot came off on mine too. Other than that I couldn't be happier with the pistol.

  • How can a crack like that occur?

  • On my 40c the front white dot flew off as well other than that I have had zero issues with mine.

  • @srvanddt1 I have many S&W guns from shotguns to rifles and a few pistols. Very reliable and never an issue. All manufactures have had a disappointment at one time or another. S&W takes great pride at having a quality product. It is not S&W's fault that the crack happen. Most likely it was the steel they machined out a solid block that could have been cooled to fast when the original block of steel was made and caused to to have some weak areas.

  • @srvanddt1 That does happen. Remember, these guns are mass produced the same with cars and trucks. Look at the problems Toyota has had and recalls from Honda as well. Nothing is perfect in life. Errors do happen but at least S&W stands behind their product and fix's it at no charge. A lot of gun manufactures don't do that and charge you shipping as a result. S&W is a rock solid American company and hope more people support them.

  • @srvanddt1 Just remember, if this country ever goes to war. You better hope you have a gun manufacture here in the states. I don't think you will have guns sent in from Croatia or Israel if we are at war. Better support the USA manufactures to make sure they stay in business.

  • How far is the gong ?

  • id like to know if anyone else has had these type of problems with the m&p pistols,i have a m&p15 an its been a flawless rifle along with any other S&W ive seen,i have mainly taurus pistols an have been wanting to get a new pistol an have been really wanting a glock but the other day i held an M&P .40 for the first time an absolutley loved it it felt better in my hand than anyother pistol ive ever held an made me want one but now these vids have really dicouraged me,any thoughts?

  • If you own the m&p 40c that does not come with the thumb safety can you buy that part and put it on the gun?

  • two birds with one stone on 7:26

  • your videos are up, I love guns but here in BRAZIL is very limited. your videos are very fun and spend a lot of knowledge of the world of guns, your videos are very good even more is the best in class .

  • Are those..flat nose bullets(for lack of a better word) cheaper than round nose ones at all? I'm guessing those are your reloads too?

  • i wouldnt even have tried that bondo deal. a cracked reciever/slide always equalls a dead gun. glad to hear the slide was replaced! and they gave u spare mag!

    great video

  • glad you got your slide back.

  • I just lost the front sight paint on my brand new M&P 9mm during it's first trip to the range. I think Smith's buying paint from China.

  • @Probuilt7 The front sight dot flying off is pretty common. I've owned two M&P's,one full size 45 and a 9c. The 9c front dot flew off on the second outing the 45 did not fly off. Their have been alot of complaints about this especially compact models. Never heard of a slide cracking till now though.

  • the crack was actually on the other side..i bought the m&pc in 357 sig and wouldnt have if i seen this video first..i hope mine doesnt crack...this is why i have always bought glocks,,,no trouble with them yet....thanks for the video..what type of warranty does s&w have?i was told just one year?

  • dont knock yourself about your shooting still damn impressive from the distance your shooting from with a compact...im about to buy that gun thanks for the videos very informative i look forward to more videos

  • 5:50 you can see the bullet hit the gong!

  • I've shot ~5000 rounds through my M&P 9 without any real issues. One stovepipe failure and one failure to load/chamber. 7-8 different brands of ammo. All in all, I've found the M&P to be very reliable. I don't know why people are talking so much trash about it. Sounds like too much reading online and not enough personal experience...

  • I noticed my front white sight is gone also. How do I replace that?

  • @MrStrawberrification new sights or just a carefully placed dot of paint from a pinstripe brush always does the trick!

  • i just bought one of these about a month ago..i've shot about 500 rounds through it and have had a lot of jams...but my buddy also got him one and has had no problems at all...ive tryed different loads and such. i guess what im sayin is...is there anything i can do about this?

  • Ty for all your vids and time and effort u put into everything, just wanted to say that from the East Coast. Now I have a ???? With us a good Home Defense round for the M&P 40?

  • I know someone how just got one of these guns. I saw it today and it felt really good. Maybe someday I can shoot it.

  • hickok45!! please help..im torn between the m&p9c and the m&p 9 with 4.25in barrel...it will be a plinking and carry gun..i know the obvious is the 9c for carry but will the shorter make plinking less enjoyable and inaccurate?

  • Still waiting for the 27 comparison video Hickok ;-)

  • You can actually see the bullets before they hit sometimes if you look close... When he starts shooting the gong, pay close attention...

  • Hickok, your a good guy but I don't see your shooting improving even though you shoot thousands of rounds per month. Is this because (a) you think you are good enough (b) you are shooting at the maximum capability of accuracy and range for most of the pistols or (c) you are getting better and I'm not paying close enough attention. Seems like you shoot the Glock 27&23 better than all others.

  • Hey hickok45, where do u get all those mags from? Can't seem to find it on my reg. ordering site. Neither in my local gun surplus store. Point me in the right direction. Love this gun but reloading too much when shooting.

  • I have been a glock fan for a few years and love them. That being said I would not mind purchasing one of these M&Ps because S&W does seem to be good at service if a problem does arise. I've owned a few S&W automatics and never had a problem with them either although I didn't fire them as much as I have my Glock 27. 1200 rds through my 27 with no problems. Purchased a S&W SW9F other day to go with my glocks because they such a close copy even with square firing pin and all from 94-96 pre sue.

  • mr hickok, i would love to see a video comparing the 40c to the g27! size, capacity, sights, etc...

  • HA I saw after the fourth or fifth it flew haha.

  • @Probuilt7

Actually, I think this is a very good video for the M&P line. It shows the side of S&W that most people don't see very often- customer service / warranty work. Most videos are just shooting the gun, showing the pros and cons of the gun, how it looks, how it functions, etc... Rarely do people get to see how a company stands behind its product. I think M&P did ok, all things considering. Lemon or not, sounds like S&W will do what it takes to stand behind their products.

  • those platyes sound like church bells

  • @skibum1610

That would make for a great Hickok45 Christmas 2011 special. Plates arranged and tuned in such a way to play a simple little Christmas tune when hit.

  • In the Chapter1 of M&P40c, the green comment says you sent the firearm to Smith and they replaced the slide. In Chapter2 you said you did bondo, sand and sent it out to be re-blued. Which is actually correct? Thanks for doing this video. I hated the felt recoil of the 40c that I owned, you make it look easy. Also, appreciate the Sig 229 .40 video you did, I am looking at one of these.

  • good vid hickok i think i am going to try the m&p and see if i like it as well as my glocks

  • I had the same problem sent it back happened again and sent it back and they gave me B.S. story. So I no longer have it and never will buy a S&W auto pistol again.

  • what ammo is that?

  • this motherf'r can shoot!

  • @Probuilt7, Yeah, I agree with you, but what I do is kind of a "reality show," which is one of the things people appreciate, I think. I had three malfunctions with the new Glock 19 Gen 4, too, on camera, and I'm sure Glock would rather that had not happened. I have the paint back on the front sight, and we'll do another video with the gun. It feels great. Actually, if I had noticed the crack before posting, I might not have posted the video. I realize it's nothing that common.

  • Comment removed

  • at 5:51 u can see the bullet!!!!!!!!!

  • Im sorry for ever asking you to do a M&P video.

  • Bondo!?! Wow! Amazing!

  • What would it take to shoot with you in person? I bet I could learn a thing or two.

  • hickok which do you prefer m&p 40c or the sr9c?

  • @mrbwatson5 that is like asking someone if they prefer a steak dinner or a can of vienna sausages. Ruger sr9 is a piece of shit.

  • Same thing happened to me with my new FNH FNX .40. Third or fourth shot the white dot popped out of my front blade. I found it and supper glued it back in. Yet to see if it will last. Didn't have that problem with my FNP .40 or my FNP .45 Tactical. Just the FNX.

  • Not that I have ever been interested in a S&W M&P; but after seing what Hickok45 went through with this gun... I will never buy one. Additionally, being an FFL Class 1 - I will warn against buying one. No thank you; I will stay with Glock and middle to upper end 1911's... recently developed an appreciation for the SigSauer... now right there is a nice gun... but S&W needs to stick with revolvers!

  • The M&P looks like the most handsome polymer gun I've ever seen.

But the trigger just looks iffy. Is it a lot worse than a glock trigger in terms of creep and crispness?

Btw, your Canon videos are amazing. They are so clear even with lower video viewing options. Thank u.

  • Life isn't always good in a state where they tell you what guns you can, and cannot buy. MA restricts the purchase of Glocks, XDs and a variety of other really fun handguns. Capacity is also limited. The 40c is a blessing for the oppressed and it's my daily carry weapon of choice. People in Mass can be proud of that "Smith and Wesson - Springfield, MA USA" signature on the steel slide. It allows us to forget that our lawmakers wear their wives' pink panties to work every damn day!

  • hehe i don't like S&Ws pistols seems like they are not built good shot a few of them love there revolvers though.

  • @Probuilt7 He shoots owns a bunch and shoots 'em a bunch.

  • I own the full size m&p40.You have me wondering if I should trade mine in for a glock considering all of the trouble you have had with yours.

  • @souben4490 You shouldn't. Glocks, especially in 40, have had problems in the past as well. No gun is immune to problems. Keep your M&P and enjoy it. If you ever have a problem, Smith and Wesson will fix it. Their customer service is among the best in the industry.

  • @souben4490 ; No need to panic. Have you google Glock problems? LOL. Lots of M&P are out there without issues. I have three, two of them are about eight years old with thousands of rounds through them with no troubles. The newest one I have(one year), has about 1500 rounds through it. Only trouble I had was the rear sight loosened up. But, that was the fault(if any) of my local gun shop who installed the night sights.

  • Now thats some kuntree boi stuff. Bondo on a hand gun. LOL!!! Funny stuff.

  • been a fan of S&M for a long time but first the slide and now the sight concerns me, of coarse I'm a revolver guy but reliability is first and foremost in what I look for in a gun if something happens while I'm playing then how can I rely on it when it's serious

  • Shootin' to the left....a lot....low and left.

  • I guess your current experiences with the M&P makes you glad you have plenty of Glocks in your safe. LOL.

  • Bondo? Pffft. Duct tape man! What kind of American are you anyhow?

  • The new camera is incrdible! The resolution is second to none and the audio is beautiful. Worth every penny of the $19.99! ;-D

  • Sorry to see you're having problems with your pistol, I believe there are reports on the internet of M&Ps going for 60,000 rounds without any problems. Guess that's the risk you take when you buy a used gun. I've heard nothing but good stuff from people who've shot M&Ps and will definitely buy one myself someday, it looks like it has much better ergonomics than a Glock.

  • @emu4286, Yep, except they are all very "used" anyway after I have them for about a week or two. :-)

  • I love the new camera. Legitimately watching the actual bullet fly down range is just awesome.

  • Great shooting

  • Hickok you are a good guy who makes great videos. You don't deserve a lemon like this.

  • @bigdollars99 , Well, it's like new at this point. S&W sent me a new sight, and it has a new slide on it. Should crank for a long time now.

  • how is the trigger compared to an XD?

  • Smith and Wesson needs to send this man a new gun.

It is bad for them to have there gun come apart and be seen from many gun owners on youtube.

  • @SavageHmr , That's pretty much what they did. New slide and sight.

  • I think S&W should stick with revolvers.

  • @TheChubbyKid No, I've had problems with those too. Sent a model 642 back twice with no change in the problems. Light primer strikes on 3 or 4 rounds out of every cylinder!!!

  • @TheChubbyKid Honestly, I've not heard of too many issues with the M&P's, but I know people with 9's and 45's. Those are lower pressure rounds than the .40 so that may have something to do with it? I stick to 3rd gen 9mm Glocks man. I just plain trust them with my life. :)

  • I'm surprised you hit the gong at all. M&Ps are not known for their accuracy. Love the videos Hichok!

  • Send the slide back to S&W again and tell them you want night sights this time for all the trouble.

  • Yes the sound from this camera is quite different , recovery is almost instant. I also wondered about trigger looks a little unusual. Maybe I'll rent one at local range. looks pretty impressive as all your videos. much appreciated.thanks once again.

  • Eh this gun dosnt impress me one bit

  • I don't have much faith in m&ps, although they definitely beat sigmas, I think smith and wesson should have stuck to revolvers,( although their 1911's are nice as well). I have 3 smith and wesson revolvers and not one of them has ever failed me

  • I seriously pitty the fool that were to ever engage Hickok in a shootout.LOL

  • hey hickok i was goin to ask you if you would want the lil foam boxs that come in the winchester white box cause i buy them alot well not a whole lot but i can save them and send them to you cause i know u do alot of reloads i got ahold of winchester and they said they cant take them back so i threw a shit load in the trash but i will save them and send them to u or who ever wants them if u dont dont have but a couple of the 380 right now i get mostly the 380 or 40 but ill save if u do thanks

  • my friend has one there not bad. But they are NO Glock !

  • SURE LIKE YOUR PICTURE AND AUDIO BETTER !

  • would you say this is a strong contender in the concealed carry dept..

  • Well, at least it's dependable. Last time out with mine I could,t hit a clay pigeon on a stand from 30 feet. Drove me nuts. I'm thinking Glock again. how the world turns.

  • i like the sound of that gun

  • Hey Hickock how do you feel about high points, i need a cheap auto handgun

  • sweet...mint...lol

  • Hickock45 with another shooting video...

    I hate you!

(only because I am sooooo jealous of your TN gun laws and your fantastic personal shooting range, too bad for me, I'm stuck in CA)

Keep up the "Life's Good" vids!

  • I have a full size M&P 357 sig and my White dot flew off also.I just took a tooth pick and dipped it in white paint and drop a little back in place. But other than that no problems with the M&P 357 sig.

  • i have a full size& absolutely love it, a glock 23 too, but i cant tell you which one i like more. the s&w is probably more consistent, but is a little more ergonomic than the 23. did they say how slide got cracked? 500rds thru mine, no issues yet. i put xs big dot on 'er she rocks.

  • sure wish i woulda got one of those rather than my sigma

  • How can some one, "like shooting too much"? Thanks for posting.

  • love the way the shots sound on the new camera!.

  • Doubtful I'd buy a M&P after seeing this.

  • That's a shame that you're having such bad luck with the M&P. I have the M&P 9mm and it's been perfect. No misfires, jamming, cracked anything and nothing is flying off. Not every gun, car, piece of clothing, human... nothing can all be perfect. Only shallow-minded sheep will hate S&W because of this video.

Hickok was in a funk with this gun, no doubt. I won't ever turn my back on my M&P. Nor will my old man or all the people who love them. Glock is the gun I want buy next, although. :)

  • Hey Hickok45 the camera is amazing. The intro clip of the M&P slide look crisp. Great buy.

  • The white part of my M&P 45c's front sight fell out at some point too. Sounds like an issue.

  • @hickok45, do you own a mp-40 or any other gun of that type?

  • i just used duct tape on mine......she's a shooter!!!!

  • Is it just me or at 5:51 could you actually see the bullet travel? That made me stop and rewind 4 times, but that is just what it looks like. Awesome! Oh yeah the shirts I promised will go out on Monday, I have to go to the post office, that crap on the commercial about them picking up Flat Rate packages is a lie! : ) ZombieTacticalStore(dot)com loves your channel sir!

  • @ZomTacSupply same thing happend to me

  • I really want to like the M&P 40c but when the video showed the cracked slide I was wondering "WTF"? Now that you had that repaired. On the 4th shot of the second video the dot just flies off of the site??? Very disappointing because I plan (planned) on purchasing a M&P 40c but my confidence is shattered now.

I also noticed that you had to shove the slide forward to chamber a round. I noticed on the first video that you would slap the magazine a couple of times right after you inserted it.

  • Which Spyderco knife is that at 8:10?

  • @lordmexxx it's pretty funny, he has a video just for that

  • Id be willing to bet that if you were firing your Glock 23 you wouldnt have missed most of those targets. Could be a thing of confidence, I could go out and buy $1000 darts but if they dont feel right I aint going to hit my targets!

  • @YJWoadWarrior i would think since the white dot flew off that is why he was having trouble

  • the dot on my friends mp9 flew off too wtf!

  • What kind of grip tape do you use on your pistols?

  • thats funny, bondo sounded weird, jb weld maybe but bondo....ok thnx for sharing...glad they got you sorted out

  • very cool, very nice, glad you could fix it

  • Get out the JB Weld and slap that dot back on...then sell it QUICKLY before something else breaks

  • @bheardnow i really dont think money is an issue for this guy

  • Ok, I stand corrected.

  • Love the new camera Hickok! The Microphone make the shots sound SO good! Makes me wanna go shoot too!

  • i thought this was a video about an MP40 Submachine gun xD, still great video :)

  • I believe I can sense your frustration as you continue to shoot on this video. This looks like one of the few times you really didn't enjoy yourself on the range. Of course that's what makes this sight so great...no editing, no put ons, just shooting! I guess some days are diamonds, and some days are stones.

  • /Black&Decker I love that!!

  • Huh, I had the white dot fly off my M&P 40 full size. I wonder if there is a defect with the material they use to make it. In any case I just used some acrylic paint and painted a new one on.

  • Sir, what is your bed side firearm for your home defense ?

  • that's rediculous for a brand new slide to blow it's front sight dot off! i'm really losing faith in the quality of a smith and wesson! what has happened?

  • you used bondo on a gun? i though that stuff want very strong

  • I love watching those bullets fly through the air.

  • I paused ad 5:51 and I can see the bullet in the air. =)

  • "Lets go Gong hunting, no, let's don't."

    =D

  • Hickok, New excuse. The reason you're missing more often than usual is that the bondo is lighter than the metal, thus throwing the gun a little to the side while trying to maintain your sight picture.

  • I'm so glad that I found your channel, and I say that even after 1 year of being a subscriber. :P

  • Hi hicko45,

As you may guess by my question I have not shot any bullets. Lots of pellets, and only ever riffles.

Is it possible for you to refill those spent jackets? I am pretty sure you can buy pre-made charges so all you need then is the lead? I would be really interested if you could answer.

We in the UK find it extremely difficult to find a place to shots as you do, unless that is we own a whole County or half the Countryside like Royalty? LOL!

    Take care,

    mrbleunun

  • @mrbluenun you can reload your ammo but for handguns there's generally no advantage since ammo's pretty cheap depending on the round.

  • @mrbluenun I don't know if anyone has answered your question yet but yes you can refill the jackets we call shells or spent brass. I belive hickok45 has a video about reloading if your interested. Sorry about the few places to shoot overt there in the UK but keep up the trigger time on the air guns trigger time is trigger time and it will make you a better shooter.

    Combattrucker1

  • i would love to see u do a review on the bren ten ....thats a gun i haven't seen in a while ...but keep up the good work hickok love ur channel

  • @hickok45 You mean Manix II ?

  • @Polaventris , Yes, duh, my bad. It's my Manix II. I ordered it and was a little surprised at it's size. I really like it, though, and carry it around the farm sometimes.

  • @hickok45 I was buying my first folding knife few months ago and at the end had to choose between Delica 4 and Manix 2. I went with Delica as the lock-back design seemed a bit more sturdy. Would be great to see you make a video about that Manix 2 too. And yes, I love my Delica 4.

  • 1 slide cracks! 1 sight flies off--nuff said--S&W get your quality control together.

  • Nothing but problems huh?

  • I love the new camera !

Good to know S&W made it right!

  • lol bondo that would be a horrible idea! love the vids keep havin fun.

  • Gotta love a Black&Decker 40c

  • I know that the cracked slide, and front site dot falling off for one owner are probably rare occurrences, but in a consumers market it just doesn't speak well for their product. Could be a one in a million flaw, but in todays world where owners communicate it's a big blunder on S&W part in my humble opinion. Awesome job as always Hickok, sometimes to see an excellent marksman such as yourself have an "off day" is actually nice for those of us who strive to shoot as well as you on our best days.

  • Bam.. bam.. Bam.. bam.. "slow down" bam bam bam bam bam

  • You're having bad luck with that M&P!

  • what is your impression of the m&p? did the dot falling off have a impact on your sight picture or is the gun not feel good?
