@PatrrricktheMonster Actually, the scharfe (aka. the eszett) is the same as a double s. The "ß" was actually originally spelled "ss," which at the time would have looked almost like an "fs" due to caligraphy practices of the time. Over time, the two letters became connected for simplicity purposes.

So, in essence verstossen and verstoßen are the exact same word: German for "offend" or "infringe" etc. You can probably check both in any translator and see that.

A parte il fatto che la voce di Maria è inconfondibile, lei non avrebbe mai potuto cantarla, perché non aveva un registro così alto.

Già aveva i suoi problemi a interpretare Rosina nel Barbiere (ma ci riusciva splendidamente...), ma questo era davvero fuori della sua estensione vocale.

@isabellalovescookies Hi! I study german and know that the pronounce of "verstoßen" and "verstossen" is the same. I'm not so sure, but it seems that in Switzerland they don't use the "scharfes S" (ß) anymore. They use "ss" instead. When one types in a non-german keyboard, which doesn't have ß, it's common to type double S. Thank you very much for you suggestion, anyway. :)

This is ridiculous to pretend Lucia Popp is Callas, there is a big difference between them. Callas could not sing this aria in the original style like Lucia Popp. You have to be German speaking to sing this correctly and the style of Mozart is not quite Italian Belcanto there is not so many portamenti. Lucia Popp is wonderful here, but please do put her photo into this presentation.... Thanks to honour Lucia Popp. I am a fan of both of them. Karin
