  • 21 people never understood what a classic FF is.

  • the song that made aerieth''s theme song

  • It's such a shame that this game is forgotten by the new school FF players. This and FF IV are masterpieces and blow away the most recent FF's. They must do a remake of this!

  • @new0033 i agree...its a pity most modern FF players think it all started with FFVII

  • @Tails4543 well i know that no ff7 did not start the franchise but in defense of those who think it did some of these games were really only re-looked up after ff7. now not saying that they were not as good as 7 in any way. i loved all of them and still do. just saying dont mouth if they think that 7 started it all....prove em wrong :)

  • @lifewithkaos03 yeah your right....i like ff7 too like all the others...i just feel bad alot of people end up missing such an awesome classic like ff4 & 6 hehe

  • Better love story than Twilight.

  • Gosh, what I would give to hear this song sung, well done, if I may add.

  • @TubeheadSkinnymike Youtube search a video called ' Final Fantasy VI Opera with real voice in English '. It is a BRILLIANT version with sung lryics (they have changed the words a bit, but still it is great :-) )

  • @nosgothgbr Thank you, my friend!

  • *chills while listening*

Waiting for this to make the top 10 of IGN's greatest video game moments :-)

  • @nosgothgbr It's not CoD so it won't :/

  • @BurningVortex Actually, it beat the highest CoD moment :D (I think). But it only came 34th I think :/ The Aeris bit on FF& (trying to avoid spoilers XD) was number 1 though :-)

  • @nosgothgbr That's fair enough then

  • I'm sick with the threatment that square enix gives to final fantasy 7... what about final fantasy 6? That's clearly the best game of the series... He should have spin offs, remakes and everything. Everything in this game has a purpose and a meaning with a deep beautiful story. I'm sick that final fantasy 6 has to live in ff 7 shadows. SQUARE you should have a little of shame and give to final fantasy 6 the real threatment that game deserves!

  • Alalalaa, quel plaisir de revoir cette scène qui m'a tant marqué dans FF6. La version orchestrale m'a déçue je préfère celle avec le vieux son pourris de la SNES (ou de la PS pour la réédition ^^).

Ahhhhhh, enjoying to see this scene which is still in my hearth of gamer. I don't really like the orchestral version, i prefer the old one with the "horrible" sound of SuperNes (or Playstation for reedition ^^)

    Thank you

  • the intro sounds a lot like the start of aerith's theme...

  • @DaRkLoRd1061 That's because Uematsu reused some parts of the music from Final Fantasy VI in Final Fantasy VII.

  • What actually happens when you mess up your lines? Never did that.

  • @MixedAddict Have to restart, best to keep them memorised lol

  • @MixedAddict you basically have 2 more chances to get it right. :P but i dunno what happens after you mess up after that :p

  • Almost brings me to tears every time

  • Imagine this scene recreated with slightly more up to date graphics in 3d, similar to the liberi fatali opening. I think that would be epic.

  • Back then when squaresoft produced magic...

  • you cant really say aeris ripped off from this because then your saying nobuo uematsu ripped himself off lol. i read somewhere that uematsu writes so many material that there are soo many songs that were made 20 years ago around the first 3 game era and still havent been used now or its been used in the more recent games. or even in 6 or 8, 9 or whatever haha uematsus the man.

  • sure the music to impersonate her voice was a revolutionary touch, yet, having played this back in the day, I liked it, but most of you ppl are being hit by nostalgia. which isnt a bad thing :)

  • @SergioSource

Nope. I've never played it before. Playing this on PSP for the first time. I got TOTALLY shocked when I saw and heard this. I have goosebumps from that. It's just too good.

  • My favorite video game scene EVER!

  • 21 people begin with Alas , Draco

  • I did not feel emotional when either of my children were born... but I got choked up watching this... Im glad Im not alone... Of all the videogames Ive played in my life, very few scenes have the privelage of getting etched in my memory like this one.

Ill have to dust off my SNES and give it another Go

  • In my opinion, one of the most iconic Final Fantasy moments. I seriously had tears in my eyes while watching this scene.

Nobuo Uematsu: you are a god among men.

  • Games and books do not make me cry, but this did.

  • This might be my favorite scene of any game, ever. This game is such a masterpiece.

  • omg, even this video disliked.

  • @yer6 Obviously, those 21 people have never played this game

  • I will never forget the moment when I was sitting playing FF6 with the volume turned right up and the opera almost blew my ears off. I''m pretty sure it is responsible for the volcano erupting in Iceland.

  • When I was a kid I always thought it looked like she was wearing a baseball cap when she was facing away from the "camera".

  • 21 people didn't see Ultros in the rafters!

  • I can actually hear the words!

  • Soon, those of us in the US that didn't snag it back on the SNES (or the PSP port) will be able to get it on the Wii VC.

  • @ironballs16 I already have it

  • Am I only one who think the music of this opera is like a bit changed 16 version of Aerith Theme?

  • @36256564874847848487

kidna...but its the other way around, after all, this song came before aerith´s theme

  • @BeastRol I know I know,I'm just saying.

  • I almost cry every time I play through this part of the game. Truly, a beautiful piece of music (No matter how it's rendered) with the Opera's story and game's story, truly one of my favorite RPGs EVER!!!!!

  • Gah, why must FF7 get so much hate for being 'mainstream' and 'popular?'

I have FINISHED both FF6 AND FF7, and although I like FF7 better, 6 was great too and you don't need to hate 7 just because you think it gets too much love. Also, it didn't 'steal' elements from 6, think of them like homages since, well, they're part of the same series. FF6 had some strange elements too. Suicidal Celes was saved... by a bird? IIRC after getting the Falcon in WoR, they just... follow a random bird to Mobliz?

  • @rashrules05 It's not that I hate FF7 for being "mainstream", (nor do I actually hate it), I just wasn't impressed with it. The storyline is downright convoluted in parts, although for all I know that may just be that it was just a poor translation, I don't know. I found myself more invested in the characters in FF6 than 7, and Kefka...well, that final battle seemed more personal. Certainly not going to knock ya for preferring FF7, it definitely did more to make RPGS popular in the US.

  • For those of you who call this the "BEST" Final Fantasy, do not be narrow-minded and ignorant and give it the title if you havn't played them all. Many people tend to do that. heck, I WAS ONE OF THEM. After playing FF7 I considered it "the best" without having played any other. After playing VIII and IX, I learned that each FF is so different that comparing them is JUST STUPID. They are all different but great games. Take my advice and play the other FF's (X and below), you wont regret it.

  • @therock17024 I've played most of them, and I still think this one is the best.

  • @therock17024 I totally agree with you. Before I played FF XII, I was already casting it off as the worst Final Fantasy. I was judging it by what other people were saying about it. Then I finally did give it a chance and I definitely ate my words after it. Now FF XII is one of my favorites. I have Final Fantasy 1-13 and I don't label any of them as "the best." I love every single one and each one is incredible in their own way. Final Fantasy forever...........

  • people talk about how this scene is emotionally powerful and cite how video rarely video games portray emotions so well and all that...

But fuck this opera scene I had to do it like 15 times I kept messing up

  • BEST GAME EVER.

  • I never played any final fantasy game, but I think this scene is sweet and touching.

    Like a disney movie.

  • What makes FF6 better than FF7?Just curious since I'm playing FF7(first time)and loving it.I've heard FF6 is really good too so I'm asking?

  • @thewilliamgregg It's called a little something called emotion, powerful characters and an enchanting plot that doesn't make any one character its star. Imagine a game where everyone is as important as Cloud. Where everyone has a purpose and motivation in the game... and when it's over, everyone has grown just a little because of the effort they went through, together. Discovering friendship, getting revenge~ fulfilling their destiny, and even if not saving the world, perhaps truly, themselves.

  • @strikerk I'm playing FF7 now, which is my first ff game,so if FF6 is as good or even better I can't imagine.I'll be sure to play FF6 after.

  • Fuck Celes was hot

  • Comment removed

  • does anybody else notice that the first bars of the song are the same bars used when you first meet aeris (aerith) in FF7? A beatiful song worthy of Final Fantasy.

  • Your not a man until you cry to this.

The only problem now is that everytime I do "other" manly thing, I ball my eyes out!!

  • I used to play this scene to my little baby sister before she went to sleep and she often than not would smile in sleep. Good old memories.

  • Is Fay Wong still around? If so, then Square should remake this game with better graphics, and have her sing this aria during the opera scene. This was one of the most touching moments in a video game for me, and this game was probably one of the best I've played.

  • From the *VERY OPENING CUTSCENE* even when I was 14, I knew FF6 was something special. First game to ever make me cry, at this scene. It's an incredible masterpiece of a game and it's very sad it will continue to be overlooked for generations to come.

  • Going to watch an orchestra play this tonight and Nobuo Uematsu is going to be there... I will die happy.

  • @PittmanGuitar How was it?

  • @RedBig117 Perfect, absolutely perfect. They had a giant screen with scenes from the games, it was amazing.

  • good old memories. no doubt the BEST FF scene ever.

  • I don't know if anyone has noticed that this song is the prelude to "Aeris' theme" xD

  • @ivinae

I noticed it when my sister showed it to me. If you look at the lyrics, it looks like Aeris is the one singing for Zack when she's waiting for his return.

FF6 and FF9 has a really great story. FF7 is a really fun game to me. The story is great too, but not as great as FF6 and FF9 IMO. I also love FF10, the tragic love between Yuna and Tidus is pretty dramatic. :')

  • @ivinae i did... XD

  • generic comment referring to call of duty and how games aren't the same.

that said, this is the greatest game of all time.

  • Not counting the brilliant FFTactics, I think FFX was the best one - but they're all good in different ways. There's no need to compare.

  • never finished this game...got deterred by getting lost in one of the last dungeon areas. dumb, I know. I did like Gau and Locke, and the game on whole. of the older, non 3-d games, though, IV is my favorite. this song is great, though. Ioved the scene.

  • I'm guessing this is the PS version (sorry if this was already stated) judging by the load time in the first few seconds.

  • When I first got here I was like "The shit?" As I played through it... It put a tear in my eye. It also got me to watch an opera :D

  • I remember playing the opera so many times just to watch this over and over...

  • Well I think all the Final Fantasy games are overrated (maybe not 9 maybe...) but FF6 was good

  • @MrFraserFilms2009 Very true...FFVI is the only one I like. FFVII was the worst one.

  • Yeah, it's true... they just don't make video games like this anymore! =')

  • Some day i wish square take out a trilogy of FFVI: FFVI: The war of magi (Wich explains the war, and how this song was inspired, FF VI-2 (Whit the return of Kefka), and FFVI

  • Holy crap, did anyone else notice that the first few notes during the narration before Celes starts singing was the basis of Aeris' theme in FF7? They sound so similar!

  • @rashrules05 its not o ly the first few notes..... most of the melody is present and runs along with aerith's theme. Obviously it means that aerith's theme was borrowed...

  • @Chapterhappy

Man, I am so glad im not the only one who noticed that. I saw this playing at distant worlds in Sydney and kept thinking "man this sounds like aerith's theme".

    Glad im not going crazy.

  • @alphamone i was at that same one in Sydney ^^ i picked up the same thing as you xD sounded a lot like her theme for a bit

  • I don't even remember what the hell the opera was about but this makes me, a grown man, cry every time.

  • I don't care how many different translations there are to this. These lyrics are the best lyrics!

  • Never played FF6, sadly i never grew up with this. I prefer 9 over 7 and 8. Mabey I'de like this.

  • @yoznfroogurt I grew up with 8, then I got 7 and I'm like "What is with the graphics?" at age 9. At age 10 I played FF7. Then decided it's called 7 because games came before it and I downloaded them all. Trust me, you'll love 6. It's one of the most revolutionary SNES games for it's time, and it certainly pushed the system to it's limits to deliver quality entertainment.

  • I just wanted to know which version this clip is taken from? Is it the SNES version? Because my version has different lyrics (it's one of the remakes for gameboy). Amazing part of the game really, I love it :)

  • This is the best fricking piece of video game music ever. The whole opera scene. Shamelessly I'll say this DOES bring tears to my eyes, each and every time I listen to this 16 bit masterpiece.

  • The only 16 bit game to bring a tear to my eye.

  • That momment when Draco said Hahaha while transforming is a bit heartbreaking.I don't know why , but to me it's a very emotional momment.

  • @gabi4play I agree! I dont know why either, but I think it's sad because we all know it's a figment of her imagination...so sad! :( this opera makes me teary

  • Ya know, I pretty much hate TV. I wish I could make my wife understood "this" is why I love video games. I almost cry watching this scene. Most people do not appreciate or understand just how beautiful and expressive video games can be.

  • @rumble1374 lol I'm a girl, and I may have hated video games were it not for games like Lunar, Chrono Trigger, and Final Fantasy.

  • @Sorvea Well, being a girl doesn't really influence if you have a higher or lower chance to not like games. Indeed, being a girl doesn't make anyone a different type of gamer, it's all the exact same thing, man or women. The way you said it just kinda looked like you confirmed the recurring cliche of "girls are not propense to like videogames". I'm saying this as a girl too.

Please, I'm not trolling anyone, just giving my opinion. So don't bash me.

  • @rumble1374 I understand exactly how you feel.

I actually sort of dislike movies sometimes just because they are at best equally good as video games, but all video game haters are like "no screw video gamez, I watch a movie, THEY rock".

  • @rumble1374 bahahahaha my wife the hand

  • Absolutely incredible. This brings back so many memories.

  • This is quite possibly the greatest scene ever in a video game.

  • This gave me goosebumps..

  • My Childhood memories of my brothers playing the great RPG games, shall i say the Greatest? of gaming history, back on Super nintendo to PS1, from FF2 to FF7, Lunar silver story, and the classic Dragon Warrior, Phantasy Star, and it was a good childhood. Now, there will never be a RPG that will "Wow" us, it's the classics that will forever be the best.

  • What the hell is happening at 2:05?

  • @Zeredek They're dancing...

  • This final fantasy is the one that proves you don't need flashy graphics, generic characters, voices, any of that new stuff, all you need is an amazing story and effort :)

  • for me it is ff6 and ff9 , both awesome games with epic and everlasting scenes like the opera scene. final fantasy is the only reason i still keep my ps1.

like once a year i have to play it, so stunning awesome!

    greatest games of my childhood

  • It's because of things like this that FF6 will always stand apart from other video games. I honestly can't think of another game that actually made me miss the characters and the world they lived in...

  • I never played this game before but this scene reminds me of this ff8 theme: the oath

  • I smell the Aeris theme in here...

  • @andy1sim Except Final Fantasy 6 came first, obviously.

  • This is the only game from that era that I had to play through from beginning to end on my SNES emulator. Top 10 all time for me.

  • i know why this piece is he most liked by uematsu him self its because ...it contains many extracts from other uematsu musical style...if u heard the beginning of that music it looks like aeriths theme and if u hear at 02:00 that will looks like tidus thme from ffx...so stop battle and try to compare the ffs music ..it's totally stupid...

  • oh how i miss this game it has been a while

  • it's FF III

  • Comment removed

  • It's so sad to see such an emotional scene after playing Final Fantasy XIII. I don't think I felt anything while playing that game.

  • @IPITYTHEFOOLZ same, FF13 was numb of all emotion. Final fantasy is seriously flawed now =(, sometimes i wish they just kept it simple.

  • i love THIS!!

  • Aww man, just watched this at work and now I need a hanky ;'P It's just a scene of opera in a videogame almost two decades ago, so why does it connect to me everytime in a way that makes me cry?

  • this game was a great epic masterpiece that will never be played, or seen ever again, only because today's generation will never appreciate how great these games are. Now, they care for graphics, Call of Duty, and a simple straight forward "Push X to win" not the hard stuff that puzzles you until you can't seem to find out the answers. This game will forever rule the FF Franchise as the Number 1 spot. No other FF will take it's place, no matter how cool it looks.

  • @Gulliman01 hey maybe theres hope. im from the gamecube generation, but i've never cared about graphics in the least. i dislike call of duty and if a game is easy i feel unfufilled. the only time ive ever stopped to look at how good a game looks is when i was playing Okami, that game is beutiful.

  • @Gulliman01 You can say that more so about the SNES/Genesis era.

  • Forget about which FF we think is the best can't we just agree this is amazing music?

  • Cant we all just agree that FF games are good no matter what they are?

  • @GuitaristABCDE Not quite, remember XII was crap!

  • @jr66167 Please give me the reasons why ff7 it's better game...

  • This is so gonna play in my wedding.

  • beautiful ;____;

  • Say it to me if Im wrong... If someone says then FF 7 is the best FF it's becouse they didn't play FF6

  • @lyocantal Well, I've played both and think FF7 is better. What do you have to say about that?

  • @LostAmaya

Probably because you're as emo as Cloud, and have always hoped to meet a man like him. You're just a graphics whore. U mud?

  • @chyiochan Will you children knock this off and just appreciate the scene?

  • @LordAngus1992 I replied with my eyes closed listening to it! ;)

  • @chyiochan Mature. Very closed minded of you. I like FF7 better because is it hadn't been released on the PS, the PS wouldn't have done nearly as well as it did. Hell, chances are we would even have PS2 or PS3 or all the great games that were released on them. Not too mention it was innovative and refreshing from the usual settings of the FF series. It has nothing to do with Cloud or the graphics.

  • @LostAmaya So you like the game because it was on PlayStation? That has nothing to do with the game! Also pointing out, by saying 'innovative' and 'refreshing' It's basically saying the GRAPHIXZ is what you liked.

ITS OK TO B MUD... Its ok...! <3

  • @chyiochan I never said I liked the game because it was on PS. I like it because it is a wonderful story with amazing characters that grow on you. Plus it doesn't take place in some historical/steam punk fantasy world. It has a modern day fill, which makes it refresh from the past 6 games. Yes, FF6 is a great game too, but FF7 just brought the series to a whole new level. That's why I find myself playing it over and over again. That's why it's innovative and refreshing.

  • @lyocantal I think that statement is a little closed minded, no offense.I played both games and enjoyed them both very much, but i still prefer ff7. It has nothing to do with the graphics,I don't care for that.Simply IMO the story was much more complex and interesting (I'm not saying ff6 lacked in this I'm just saying ff7 seemed to have more depth in it).Nonetheless, this is strictly MY opinion. It would be selfish for me to claim ff7 as the superior game as this is based on preference not fact.

  • @lyocantal Or 4. Or 9.

  • @lyocantal

Dude I totally agree with you.

I would put FF7 #2 in my greatest RPG's ever with this game being the #1 RPG ever. It's not about graphics or cut scenes or whatever... it's about how much heart you put into a game. And this game had more heart and craft than any game I have ever played.

  • @lyocantal Nah, it's just because it's the first JRPG they've ever played. :)

FF5 is still the best tho. :P

  • @Bastiest The first RPG then i ever played is FF 4... And yes, this is one of my favorites to...

  • @lyocantal I've played both, and I still think FFVII is better. FFVI did it first, but FFVII did it better. I know a lot of people will disagree, but it's just my opinion. They both are fantastic games, though. That's the thing. Every Final Fantasy has that special something to it that makes it great. That's what makes opinions on the games so varied. It's because there all so freaking good!

  • @lyocantal Damn straight!

  • @lyocantal Totally agree with you man!!

  • @lyocantal I've been playing FF6 I already beat FF7 and I can say those who like FF7 over FF6 don't realize how much that game borrowed from 6. There are so many references beyond the influences of insane kefka to make the subtly mad sephiroth that naming each one would go over comment limit, suffice to say that FF gamers are lying to themselves by saying that 7 is better than 6, I think they are both great. I just don't say the same for 7 and 13, I think 13 is just 7 fanservice

  • @lyocantal FF6 was clearly the best

  • @lyocantal bingo.

  • @lyocantal with the exception of me lol. FF7 takes the crown out of all the games in the franchise. Yes, I've played all of them.

  • @lyocantal I played all FF and to me... FF7 was the best one... before FF7 series was rising in quality... after FF7 the series went downhill being FFX the last decent FF...

  • @championofgods ff7 had like the worst story that barely made any sense

went from stopping a fat guy to stop a mental guy to saving the world

  • @SuperPornDealer well, FF6 didnt made much sense too... mad clown wants to become a god for no reason, he becomes a god by almost accident, destroys the world and then, the God of Magic is defeated by Magic...? makes all sense...

FF7's story is way miles above any other Final Fantasy story... sry but its the true... (FF7 spammed spin offs and movies, FF6 didnt... FF7 made the series famous in all over the world...)

  • @championofgods Why do people want power? To rule. So there is your reason. Kefka slowly gains power through collected magicite up until he takes advantage of the warring triad to kill off his only competition, Gestahl, so it was no accident. I feel like your last point is moot as what else do you want? Sephiroth's death was incredibly dull. FF7 was a landmark in technical advances, not story/character building, and that is why it's popular. Much like how COD is a #1 seller despite it being shit

  • @Pushit666 and why people want to rule? really, Kefka is the second most boring villan in final fantasy (the first being zeromus from FFIV)... while Sephiroth has a good backstory and is a deep character... and you say that FF7 was just technical sucess? how about the most surprising moment in a video game ever: Aerith's death?

No sir, FF7 was a landmark in graphics, gameplay, story... its the only rpg that I played more than 10 times...

  • @championofgods Lmao, deep? He mistook himself for being an ancient so he sets out to become a god and do what? Rule the world - HEYO. Kefka DID become a god and even had his own cult. Boring? If anything he has the most personality and character out of any villain in the series, a refreshing change from the "cold & distant" archetype. Aerith's death was surprising sure, but so was general leo's. It was an all right game, but nowhere near worthy of the praise it receives.

  • @Pushit666 its your opinion... the professional critics say otherwise, so who's right? though decision...?!

  • @championofgods Critics are often wrong. I liked FF7 but Kefka is far superior to that one-winged mama's boy.

  • @CaptainTrilobyte even if critics are wrong, the majority of the world population favors more FF7 than any other FF... so if the World is wrong, then who has the right to tell what is right...?

  • @championofgods Nobody is right. It's all opinions. There is no right or wrong when opinions are involved.

  • @championofgods

    /watch?v=arAOYBZZSE0

    :3

  • @championofgods

Not all profession critics like FF7.

GameSpy rated it #7 in their list of top 25 most overrated games.

Yahtzee Croshaw who does Zero Punctuation is a paid critic, and has said that he really liked FF6, but stopped liking JRPGs when FF7 came out, because JRPGs started to become "more about spectacle than substance."

    So Ha. :P

  • @rockinsparzy105 wow 2 critics against over 9000 others... FF7 is still more acclaimed than FF6 is and ever will be... so Ha :P

  • @lyocantal no its cuz they white and thats the first rpg they played ever

  • I remember when i first played it. I always reset the game to just play this part over and over. Truly a beautiful part in the game.

  • óóóóóóóóóóóóóóó opera!!!!!!!!!!!of my 2nd favorate GAME!GAME!

  • enjoyed the soundtract of final fantasy IV-X.glad nobuo is the composer.

  • Im about to get a ton of shit for this but whatever. I didn't find this sad or an emotional jerker. It never really did anything for me but soak up time.

  • @dallasdoby3

'tis your opinion, although you are gonna get a lot of rage in your direction. i personally thought the same when i was younger, but now i realise how freaking amazing it is. it's just a beautiful composition.

  • @r0bz0rly Oh it's a fantastic piece. Just everyone always mentions the words, that's what never did much for me.

  • This is, hands down, one of the most beautiful and glorious moments in the entire FF franchise, if not in gaming history.

  • So, I'm almost certain Final Fantasy fans, regardless of whether they're a VI or a VII fan or not, will hate me for this buuuuuuuuuuuuuuut.........

I'm a person who has listened to opera several times at this point, and I even play music and appreciate video games far more than my peers do. I know the reasoning behind this scene and I appreciate that it's there...but...I just don't feel anything listening to this. I've felt sadness in video games before and after...so...yeah.
