Never shopped at dollar stores until I was doing design work with Family Dollar. I was really surprised by how good their stores are!
But I must says that I've tried buying mascara at dollar store for $3. Bad deal, it was a bit dried and lumpy. It can't be my bad luck, because I bought 4 tubes and they are all like that! They should really put expiration dates on cosmetics!!!
Hya by the way not true sometimes the Dollar Tree has sales yep gasp sales on canned goods as little as .75 cents a can and depending on the products sometimes they`ll have a better sale of 2 for .75 cents or 3 for .75 cents so keep that in mind because it doesn`t happen to often!!!
I shop at all stores, I shop at dollar store to get toliet paper, i dont need to expensive kind,unless its a dollar..i once in a blue moon shop at the dollar tree, only reason why once in a blue moon? most of the product break, and then I end up buying again, like kitchen stuff etc..It shopping smart and what is affordable but also making sure that what your buying is worth the money investing into it..
With this current economy in the toilet, you have to be crazy not to shop in a Dollar store! Dollar stores are currently beating Walmart, Target & Kmart all combined in their own game and they're winning. Pretty much everything you need around the house is here (Minus the furniture & the appliances of course!) Snacks,Dairy products, toiletries, produce,soaps kitchen & bath accessories...all in here! Why on earth would you wanna go elsewhere!?
@joel750 i go to the dollar store for everything except food because they dont have a great selection, and the one time i did buy groceries from there my boyfriend and i got food poisoning. so with the extra money i save by shopping there for everything else i go to Walmart for food.
I totally agree with you that issue when it comes to food! There's a ton of food poisoning cases against food coming from China w/c we all know where the Dollar Stores' products primarily come from.But for anything else, STILL you cannot beat the Dollar store. Just be very cautious on WHAT you buy and it will be OK... :)

I dont understand why people think its bad too shop at dollar stores. If you can get certain things for a dollar that may cost 3 or 4 dollars anywhere else,thats a good thing to me. Also not everybody has the money to buy name brand products. But I will admit somethings there you DONT want to buy.
don't most coupons have a minimum amount that the original product must be in order to use the coupon? like for example... if you get a dollar off toothpaste... the toothpaste had to be its original price of 3 dollars, so you couldn't use it at a dollar store?

SOmetime it might say must be this size or bigger to get it off, like I have a 1.00 off coupon for Angel soft but it says it must be 12 double roll or larger=) and the manafature doesnt care because they get the full price anyway for the coupon. if that makes any sence at all=)
i went to family dollar, tried to use my five dollars off two of the haircolor(they were 2.50 each) they were really really upset that i paid only tax...and proceded to put some plastic thingy that says if u find it for sale elsewhere, please call this 800 number...i bought them for the purpose of reselling...will never step foot in that lousy store again FAMILY DOLLAR SUCKS
The party favors are a great buy at Dollar Tree or $.99 Store. A table cloth, napkins, plates, cups, forks, and spoons for a party of 8 is only $6.00. I like it because they have Spiderman, Barbie, Hannah Montana etc.
