Many New Yorkers are not aware how near these pristine and breath taking Long Island shorelines are to the central city. Early May I start thinking about visiting Jones Beach and Fire Island at 5 in the morning to experience a sunrise off the ocean, colors that take my breath away, one and one half hour from midtown traffic.

Lived 48 yrs. on Long Island. You don't appreciate the beauty of it till you leave. Montauk and the Hamptons were simply incredible. Miss it and will visit soon.

Thanks, i happen to like the beaches and lighthouses of long island even though i'm not too crazy about living here. i really hope i can check them out once the wheather gets warmer.
