9 is capable of masking..it depends what edition you get..sony vegas 9 platinum (i think it is called) is the basic version.. i have sony vegas 9 pro..which is capable of masking ^^

strange as sony vegas pro 9.0 has more features and better functionality then 8.

Even though it has more features, and an easier interface, 8 is more professional. It is close to what the actual professionals use, if not WHAT the professionals use. And I'm pretty sure 8 has more plugins than 9.

Just my opinionated decision, I used 9. Got rid of it for 8.

It's easy... You only musst make a Video an over that Video put a Text and and select for that Layer der mode "Burn".

Then copy that text and create again an Video-Layer past the text and for that Layer you select the Mode "Custom" an then "Sony Height Map" and now put ypur settings.
