  • My aunty puts like 10 pleats

  • XD .... funny

  • wow you look beautiful is sari. Is that kerala style sari?

  • @"I know white saris are for widows, but this one has gold pattern, and I like white. It was hard to find white one like this"

IWhite saree with gold border worn by girls in kerala(south india) during onam.. its kinda like the traditional dress of kerala..

n btw awesome video cheerrss!! :)

  • 5 Star!!!

  • that was theme music of movie "dhoom" released in 2006 in india

  • hey whats the name of the music in this vid? i love it :D great job!!

  • great Job :))))))) have you ever come to Turkey :))

  • That 'ayyo ayyo' accent is southern Indian.

No north Indian, eg. a punjabi or pahari or haryanvi or kashmiri speaks like that.

  • The aunty bit was hilarious - even those of us who are not Indian can relate. I've been trying to figure out how to put on my sari which was a gift (I'm Irish and totally ill equipt at this). Thank you for making me brave enough to try wearing it once more :-)

  • I love your gold earrings!

  • jeez, that was funny overall.

    thank you

  • who was the girl putting on the sari? was that you

  • @pratheepsivam

Kitty...you are very crazy....but you do a good work for women. hahaha

  • You are funny! Like your idea of the aunty to humour the whole act.

  • i both in india a sari for a girl here in italy... i must to understand how to wear because i shall to learn to the the girl

  • In southern India among Hindus, even the most orthodox, a white sari doesn't represent a mourning attire. (Maybe in some groups, but I don't know of any.) White saris are rare, I don't know why. I think it's because it gets dirty more easily and therefore, not practical.

In my Andhra community, ladies wear a white sari with a green border for their marriage.

  • Thanks for info. Btw, white does not get easily; it just shows dirt easily.

  • I have learned from attempts with different methods (with the same looking result) is to drape the pallu first then pleat afgter do you dont over or under pleat and end up looking silly with a too long, or too short pallu on your back

  • Thank you for posting this video. My mother-in-law just sent me a sari from Pakistan and until I watched this.....I had no idea how to wear it. LOL So, thanks again! :o)

  • thx, very helpful,

  • lol really good job, you deftly captured the brown accent :P

  • my daughter will follow your instructions!

  • do u have a boyfriend? :)

  • haha.

  • What a delightful and creative video! VERY entertaining, and VERY educational. You make wearing a sari seem quite easy and simple. I imagine myself more like the first example, in a heap on the floor...

Handwoven sari is VERY big in the fashion news right now, and I wanted to learn more about how one wears a sari (correctly!), and found your video. Thank you! I will think of you as "Auntie" and smile many times as I dress in the future.

  • good video cute

  • hi!!^^

You have helped me very much with this video!!

    well,,I don't speak very well english,but I have understood you a bit ^^

You seem to be very nice :)

i have laughed a lot Though I did not understand what you were saying.

    =P take care,from Spain!^^

  • Can I marry you?

  • Thanks for sharing this video. But mom has different way of wearing sari and it looks erally gud. I wish I could teach you but I itself dunno her style n live far away hehe.. U luk gud in sari. N usually south indians wear that half white and gold sari for onam festival. Widows don't wear that color but only full white. Thanks againf or this video.

  • Ha ha It's a funny video.. nice presentation buddy... keep it up.

  • Cheers , accidentally looked at this and must say youve a great sense of humour!

    learnt from a tamilian aunt?

  • This is a cute video. My question is how appropriate is it for a non-indian to wear a sari? Meaning a little white girl like myself. I've been fascinated by them for a while and I just bought one finally, will indian women find my wearing it in public offensive?

  • No not at all. I am Indian and I think it is great that u want to wear one. No one will find it offensive a lot of my non Indian friends wear it too.

  • I'm the same as you, except I'm not white, lol. I've always had a love for Indian music and dress.

  • good

  • cool!!! u're talented lady...:P

  • ha ha ha really its funny video

  • ha ha ha its really cool funny video ha ha ha..... specially 'dadi amma'

  • This was the very first video I ever saw you in. And yes, you are irresistible.

I'm still fascinated with sari, pareo, kanga, sarong, and other simple rectangles which become a ton of beautiful garments. It's like complexity arising from simple beginnings, like John Conway's Game of Life.

  • hahahahaha thats a funny vdo !!!! good going Koo

  • well done. you can become a very good actress

  • thank you cutie!!! i just did my sari!

  • That is such an elegant sari! I love the gold border.

oh yeah i wanna tel u,the sari is a special south indian type of sari..white with golden bordering..dats y it was probably hard 2 find ^^

n nope dat kind of sari isnt worn by widows,so rest assured..its worn on special occasions..n u looked beautiful on it..the auntie imitation..funny!hehe

im a south indian myself..so know a lil bit abt it

  • beautiful....clear...n amusing....great!!!!!:)

  • i'm gonna wear a saree for my wedding... if i ever get married! :)

  • Lol funny and informative video. This seems like a general way of wearing a sari. Depending on what part of India you're from depends on you're style of wearing a sari. My family wears it a bit different though (originated from U.P.). For the last part, they pleat the sari (near the shoulder - don't remember how many times), then use a bobby pin to secure it LOL. And I suppose you were imitating the aunty in Singapore? lmao.

  • thx that was really useful and funny at the same time =)

  • lol love the imitation of the aunty!! LOL

  • Are you really irresistible? LOL jk. I was reading your shirt at 0:42.

  • ohmygosh you have such a perfect tummy!! T_T so very envious !! you look amazing in a sari by the way!! And lmao you are hilarious!!

Thanks so much for the tutorial !! =) - Taniah

  • Nice work and good video. I'm glad that you took the time to learn how to wear a saree. There's just one change you need to make - the way you wrap the pallu (in the final step) - that's not how Indian women wear it. You need to make pleats there too. Check out one of Oprah's shows where Aishwarya Rai teaches her to wear a saree.

  • cool and funny

  • I don't exactly like how you tucked your sari, but the way you made that old lady talk with Indian accent is very funny :)

  • Very nice and very helpful. I needed to know how to wrap a Sari for my girls in a middle school play of The Jungle Book. Thanks.

  • Nice video :D:D

  • Awesome! Helpful and very cute. Your impressions are so funny. XD

It's been a while since I've draped a sari, so I'd forgotten. Thanks for the video.

  • :)) Nice attempt, but I'm sure the Saree will open up in no more than 5 minutes lolll !! This isn't as neat either , but happy to see the interest :) One thing which most people forget to mention is that if you're planning to wear high heels, it is better to have them on while draping the Sari. That way, your ankles wouldn't look exposed, or the Sari wouldn't look short. Also, make sure you have safety pins secured well in all the strategic locations:) Cheers !!!

  • oh dear, myself being an indian, i never realize that someone from Indonesia can make the "funda" of waring saree so easy.......nice video. And never the less, u r very beautiful too......

  • Best instructions on how to wrap a sari that i've seen. thank you. You're a cutie, too.

  • Actually there are several types of wearing a saree. Brahmin ladies wear in a type called 'MADISAR', in Kerala, they wear till navel and no covering uppper part only in big town they fully cover. Every part of India there is a different type of saree wearing. What you tried was Tamil Nadu style.

hmmm.. about the saree. i think u may already know by know.. but its different from the usual white sarees and is differentiated by that golden border which is called "Kasavu".. it is a traditional weaved pattern common in the southern Indian state of Kerala.. and Kasavu saree are usually worn in festive occasions.. A good choice by you... Loved the video..

this is jumbo , the way you demonstaring to wear a saree is excellent, especially your navel is awsome , its so romantic...........:)

  • hi kitty,

    your demostrating simply superbb

you navel is awsome , its quite romantic when you wear a saree

  • great"!!! thank you!

  • Very good teaching. The mimicry was perfect just like the old Indian ladies of the north.

Yes, this is a white sari, but it is the traditional sari of the Keralites(of all ages and marital status) which they drape for their festivals such as Onam. Hence it won't be difficult to find, if you mention so.

  • love it!

  • This was the first video in the list when I pulled up "wear sari". Thank you for posting these instructions!

    Great guide! :)
