"We" are here to explore and learn. We are a part of an evolutionary process and not the evolutionary process its self. We are here to learn and by learning we advance humanity to the next level. Eventually, if religion does not win, humanity will evolve through education and process to inhabit the local galaxy. Once this has been accomplished we will be a part of a galactic "family".

In our more advanced state we will look so different that should one of "our future selves" come back in time to visit us we would not recognize them as human. eidelon you sound to be very optimistic about the future. thought atleast what ive seen and read from the history humanity has bad habit of learning things the hard way and usually when its too late or its almost the last possible moment. but i suppose you are right that humanity does change over time but there are somethings that are harder to get over like violence for the wrong reasons or holding on to archaic beliefs.
