No one seats and expects food to enter their mouth. We ask Allah to help us find a good job by going out and searching, then when we make money we buy food with the help of Allah. So yes, Istikharah is a must, but it comes with efforts.

an easy proof of that is when the Prophet(saw) maried Khadija(ra). It's not like he married her on the first sight, but rather in time He(saw) got to know her better and then they married.

So i think it's also applicable in this situation.

but what my brother is reffering to is when u get a spouse online and then dump her because u only wanted to enjoy.

Calling things haram left and right is haram itself brother/sister. Just understand that sometimes people need a life partner and aren't able to find one.
