Yes they WERE married in real life! They met on this film and were married with two adopted children. Garry was Bette's fourth husband and she has been quoted as saying that he was her best husband! :P

This is just beeeeautiful, holly. Really. This video was what made me want to see this film and when I did, I fell in love with Bette and since then have spent countless hours trying to watch as many of her films I could get my hands on.
