This is sad to see, but thanks for showing it and exposing this madness.

In such a place all large scale development is an abomination. If people want to visit those places, facilities should be very simple, low key and harmonious with the environment. How else can you truly appreciate such a place? You need to be close to nature in such a place and connect properly to appreciate it.

If tourists can't deal with that, then too bad, let them go to Los Vegas and sit in air con and look at cement.

The environment needs to be protected by enforcing existing laws. Well planned developments should be encouraged for the money they bring to the area which in turn can be used to protect these species from the past bad practices that need to be undone. The focus should be to undo the bad practices not to prevent responsible new development.

I would be willing to bet that this comment came from within the developers' circle of influence. That circle of influence includes the government of Costa Rica. They have just what it takes to get corrupt government officials to turn a blind eye - no integrity and lots of money. Pave paradise and put up a parking lot.
