  • wtf is this?

  • Sound quality is terrible (and I have really good speakers) you can hardly hear any of the amazing detail you get when the beat stops around 1:14 and 2:18 onwards!! If you check this out on the Chris Cunningham dvd you get the treble all right and the bass is soooo deep :)

  • @Poopleschtinck oh well this is not Sparta, just youtube :P

  • mmmm that mummified guy is EVERYWHERE ...... <:O

  • Hmmm, not Chris's best video work, but it's not horrible. Not sure why he hates it so much

  • damn this is good

  • @Dinkydau00

    YESSSSSS

  • Why must all Chris Cunningham videos be so fucking creepy?

  • the sound my morning boner makes is actually like this....

  • 1. Put somebody is a silly suit.

    2. Make a lot of blurry close-up shots.

    3. ???

    4. Profit!

Still a fun video, though :)

  • I love this tune. I'm not as keen on their recent stuff, but their last album was OK.

  • I knew Autechre way before Mtv had it on, but glad to see airplay . 120 mins used to show Industrial music too. Oh, the days.

  • i wish chris cunningham would do metal videos.

  • -flags top rated comment as spam- please don't mention the boy -_-'

  • i love this video, when i was young my brother showed me this i was scared then but know i thank to him for this ;)

  • what the fuck is it doing at the end, getting a tan?

  • I live in a small town run by even smaller minds =/

Also, my tummy just said rawr.

  • @werwatchnu hahaha that was funny

  • Apparently, both Autechre and Cunningham himself were really disappointed with this video. Didn't turn out at all like he'd meant it too.

This is a different version to the one on the Chris Cunningham DVD, too! That one focuses completely on the machine, and the weird figure and beach scenes have been edited out completely.

  • Really looking forward to the Live London show on June 1st. I hear it is mostly made up of new material!!! Sick!!

  • Mine has better video and audio

  • failing the william gibson connection, I would love to see him direct an iain.m.banks 'culture' novel for the big screen. would be the most gloriously twisted combo.

  • when MTV was so amazing, now is pure shit

  • @greeeeeeeeeeeetg

    Exactly, it's so depressing.

  • @greeeeeeeeeeeetg

    There's an old saying

Remember the 80s? No one at MTV does.

  • @greeeeeeeeeeeetg I TOTTALLY AGREE..... Loved to stay tuned with AMP !

  • @greeeeeeeeeeeetg yeah there was a time with cool clips on MTV but ist fucking 15 years ago...

  • This reminds me a lot of THX 1138.

  • can't wait to see Chris Cunninham Live in London in June at the roundhouse who else is up for that one.... never seen him live this is gonna be sick!!

  • This is what my dreams look like...

  • awesome, trippy music...juss like boards of canada <33

  • And does anyone else really want that robot now????

  • Cunningham is such an influence. And Autechre. And Aphex Twin. Boards of Canada. Squarepusher. The entire gaddam Warp Records.

  • I really miss AMP. Not only did it expose me to new and fresh types of music, but it also showed some of the most cutting-edge videos I have ever seen.

  • boring.... over cooked ambiguity

  • I forgot all about this band, THANKS YOUTUBE!

  • Wow this was on MTV, The FUCK

    Awesome track !!!!

  • @MagnitudePerson yea. . .this was years ago when mtv was actually music television. They were the ones who showed real art to the mainstream.

  • fuck yes

  • Do I see an Early Rubber J?

  • I find that sound activates my imagination. It's almost like a library of connections my brain makes with sound" -- Chris Cunningham (Mirrorball interview)

  • Comment removed

  • lol both song name and album name are misspelled in the MTV blurb thingie

  • @carthag you're right. It's Second Bad ViLbel, and the album is not only misspelled, it's also not even the correct album. It's from the "Anvil Vapre" EP.

  • Just for the OP, the title is actually "Second bad Vilbel". Awesome track it is too!

  • even the fucking MTV sign at the end of the video completely synced with the video glitch !!!

  • @Intelectual95 seriously, you could be the smartest guy on earth but you still havent learned how to enjoy music. That's sad, someday u might understand it. I just hope 95 is your year of birth, that would explain your behaviour... wich could be rather comprehensible for a kid at his puberty.

  • @Intelectual95 That's nice.

  • @Intelectual95 obvious troll is obvious. if it isn't your aesthetic preference then don't listen to it.

    facepalm.jpg

  • @Intelectual95 ... you do know that listening to cock rockers like avenged seven fold actually brings your IQ down by about 80 clicks yeah? so you actually have an IQ of 90.

... laughable, meaning is of the intellect, art is not. incredibly stupid.

  • idiot, music isn't about intellect it's about feeling.

  • @Intelectual95 'Nerdy bleepy bloop shit'? For an IQ of 170 you're a fucking dumbass. Get away from this video and stop infecting it with your bullshit.

  • @Intelectual95 Dear Tard, I have an I.Q of 534 for all you know... Avenged Sevenfold sucks live, and you don't have the common sense to figure out that it's all just a bunch of people laughing at your retardation at the moment. If you don't like it... then why are you taking the time out of your wonderfully smart time to post? By the way, your grammar and spelling is just as fail as you. **Real, You, Actually, Their, Doing, Don't, I, I, I, Anyway.*** English is my second language. <3

  • @Intelectual95 well you must be smart indeed. smart enough to let the world know how smart you are.

but you are not smart enough to know that a computer doesn´t do all the music by himself, most music nowadays is composed with computers or similiar digital interfaces. its not which instruments u can play/use its about your own creativity, and how u use it. all that garbage " they use computers..blablabla" is stupid.iq 170 XD old bread is smarter than you. who the fuck is avenged sevenfold?

  • Autecher's new track Second Bed Vibal from the album Try Repatai--video by Chris Columbus

  • F |__| C K I N G A M A Z I N G!

  • Hello, if you want to delve into Autechre's discography, take a look at my discog review ! Cheerio!

  • Play Portal with that in the background.

  • that isn't oldfashioned, that's art!

  • that isn't oldfashioned, that's art!

  • HA! MTV!! those were the days.....

  • IDM ALL THE WAY!!! Sad that they got rid of these :/ But as we know, dumbness is the trent these days.

  • THIS WAS ON MTV at one point!!!!

    fuck that shit

  • chris cunningham and autechre actually hated this video. this was his first attempt at making a video.

  • Please rename this video to its correct title, "Second Bad Vilbel".

  • the sad part is that this stuff got replaced with the crap you see on MTV now, but in Europe it's still quite the same, maybe less but music videos still do get played. For instance the very first time I saw this video was actually in 2006 on a Russian music channel A1. I saw music news bits every hour or so, music videos of any genre. Recently, I even saw a "clash of the titans" type of thing they had between Prodigy/Chemical Bros, I was glued to the screen cos of the old vids. Here, it's whack

  • MTV should play this instead of Jersey Shore.

  • @Todd200 loooool !!!

  • hahaha mtv PARTY ZONE

  • what? MTV NOT PLAYING LADY GAGA, or OMG??? WTF!!!!

  • A very rare opportunity to see Chris Cunningham (director of that video) in action on a big screen in the beautiful settings of The Roundhouse, London. Support from 16Bit and Factory Floor. That just cannot be missed!!! soundcrashmusic(dot)com/chris-cunningham/

  • The old version was much better.

  • Both the song and the video feel like they came from the future ...and probably did

  • Wird das nicht im Hintergrund in dieser Brand-Neu Werbung von MTV gespielt?

  • this is really nice, perfect sunday afternoon music

  • LISTEN UP EVERYONE VERY IMPORTANT

We will be attacking Justin Biebers BABY video

on September 1st onward ... Remember to dislike, put a comment and flag on the baby vid on SEPTEMBER 1st!

We need your help to destroy this modern autotune music that

has ruled the world. Copy paste this comment on every video you watch

we need 20,000 views to fill the dislike column!!!!

    THUMBS UP!

  • @MaxRideWizardLord you suck! not justin bieber.

  • @Mum2Boys lol rage justin bieber fan search everyvideo to whine on a spam comments? shame kid.

  • @MrMushroom123 so true.. and it just keeps getting worse....

  • @MrMushroom123 we've been brainwashed

  • Comment removed

  • @MrMushroom123 That's deep bro... * snicker *

  • @MrMushroom123 yo, send that to MTV. maybe they'll put that as a disclaimer before their day's "programming."

  • @MrMushroom123 Shut the fuck up about Bieber, God. On every video. Autechre have NOTHING to do with him.

Also don't generalise people like that. Music sales are at an all time low. People are getting their good music fix elsewhere. Nobody who appreciates music looks for it in stores or on itunes anymore.

  • @lasrarities this was a reply to someone, all this pointless j. bieber hate never really affected me.

you're right on the part about generalising peoples taste. that was a pretty biased statement by me.

  • @lasrarities You can't say MrMushroom123 isn't speaking the truth, though.

  • @lasrarities why is a Justin beiber discussion on a autechre/chris cunningham video

  • @lasrarities I honestly wonder why you would get so upset about bieber hes one of the only real talents shining through the morass we're in, en if hes too young to see of it out

  • @MrMushroom123 't is a free world, don't judge...

  • The first time i watched this iwas tripping on a butt load of acid.......let me tell you, you don't know anything until you watch this movie on acid, it tells you the secrets of the world

  • @theaamberleighh1 what did it tell you? probably a secret, i'm sure.

  • Ah... long live Lego Feet (aka Autechre) also known as Skam. They started their work in 1991 for experiments and making freakazoids. I love old-school their job, it was very not popular, but this music is very unnique and atractive, how sad a very shork people know them. :( They still making good things even in 2010 year, but still, not that's so good as it was in 1991. Thanks for posting man!

  • this reminds me of digimon somehow XD and MTV is like fake dumb reality shows now

  • epic

  • I noticed MTV went all shite too but just put it down to me aging. Now I realize I was actualy the sane one. :)

  • How Cunningham made something so simple as this video, so awesome I dunno.

"Hey guys, I got a great idea for a video. A robot moves around a little and then nothing happens."

  • @wetcrevice ...It's true. And somehow...it's still cool. I dunno man. It's trippy when you think about it.

  • @wetcrevice lol no need to do so. I'm so glad there is no clumsy 4 minute videoclipstory wrapped in this. it's like you just had an ufo sight. if you put some story into the sight it gets goofy.

  • Modern music has no substance to it. All of it is crap covered by poorly thought lyrics and after 3-4 months the self life of the song drops to nothing then its gone and no one listens to it cause of the new wave of more shitty music. Then u have music like this that still is makin heavy impressions to all of those listening. Music made with soul and heart will stand the test of time, so if you make music do it for the love not the money.

  • @Minus42Zero I wholeheartedly agree with you.

Today you have to try and pick out the few precious pearls out of the growing moutain of shit that make up the bulk of popular music.

  • @isair81 Exactly but even trying to find those gems is a hard task in its self. Its like trying to find a needle in a stack of needles. Real music is dead in the heart, only greed fuels its ability to keep moving like a zombie after new flesh. Just die you bastard!!!!!

  • O.O Downloading!!!

  • Well, MTV misspelled the track title AND the album title. At least they played it, I'll give them that.

  • I do not know why I cant find this on limewire

  • Think the only ones who don't notice that there's no longer music on MTV, is MTV!

There was a time where I was clinched to the MTV screen, but those days are long gone.. I even forgot what the 'M' stands for!! :((

  • a music video on MTV?

  • @dylanlawless1 Yes, when it was still good. :)

  • cool good song and really unique video

  • 0:46 best moment ever

  • bad ass!

  • this video is a bit different than i saw for this same song

  • BP could use a device like that.. this track is on the EP Anvil Vapre.

  • wat album is this on?

  • @blzbug242 Tri Repetae++

  • this song is so crazy, espessialy the ending....... so good

  • ƃuıɹɐɥs ɹoɟ noʎ ʞuɐɥʇ

  • MTV was like MuchMusic (much less interesting version of MTV here in Ca). Bastards have made the entire country brain dead, uninspired and uniformed man!

  • @spase667

Same here, man. I think I was 12 or 13 at the time, my brother would make me drink beer with him and just watch MTV. Simple, unforgettable memories.

  • THIS WAS ON MTV??? jesus fucking christ...fucking corporate greedy sons a bitches!

  • There's something very messed up about this video. But messed up in a good way.

  • video is well done, but the track is to repetitive. Its shitty Aphex twin-come to daddy is way better in my opinion.

  • love the bass in this song

  • hey my phone makes this easy music. cool.

Aphex twin - come to daddy is God compared to this broken record of a song. My opinion means shit. G.

  • ah man chris cunningham make some more films....please i need you back in my life.

  • I used to have this on the "Gantz Graf" Cd. I read that Autechre werent too happy with what Chris Cunningham had done. Their original spec was a non specific piece of machinery that moved and morphed in time to the music. When it came to "Gantz Graf" i think Autechre made the video themselves. Personaly i like this video too but Gantz Graf is better.

  • @Datathief100 Alex Rutterford (a good friend of Chris) did the video for Grantz Graf

  • Thanks a lot for this. Memories...

  • Is that one of those creatures from Metro 2033? :O Lol

Great tune, great video. Chris Cunningham never fails to bring the goods.

  • @Deathtez88 It was supposed to be non specific. If its reminiscent of Metro 2033 i think its just coincidence.

  • @Datathief100 Well since the song came out way before Metro 2033 was even written, that's a given. Unless the developers of that used this as influence of course. :)

  • @Deathtez88 Never seen Metro 2033. I was just saying what i did because i'd read an int. with Chris Cunningham where he talked about the original spec that ae had given him for the vid. Neither party was too happy with the video apparently but i love it.

  • Pretty dope

  • chris cunningham is insane!!!!

as for autechre...words can;t describe the genius of those 2 men...brilliant!

  • Simply porno.

  • just a footnote: it's bad vilbel (not vibel), bad vilbel ia a town in germany by the way

  • Uggh I miss ther days of quality music videos such as this.

  • I disagree, in the 90s Mtv made a lot of good bands popular by showing their videos and music, now they KINDA still try to do the same thing, but they are showing us all these bands that suck ass, and not to mention the horrible shows they air too.

  • agree, like lady gaga and other forms of homosexuality socialy acceptable next to wrestling

  • I prefer this version better although it can do with the aliens.

  • Thank god for internet radio.

  • @turtl3soup thank technology ;)

  • After 1999 MTV lost whatever backbone it possibly ever had. They god rid of a ton of cool VJ's, along with the really good programs. Videos like this, prodigy, nin ect. played at a very late hour. It gave people like me and plenty of others a reason to stay up late watching t.v.

Yes, stuff like this got replaced with cheesy shit like Date My Mom. Sad isn't it?

  • It`s all about making money - they all got so greedy . Lady gaga , r&b "artists", and the rest do promote fashion designers, soda drinks and other crap, even so called indie scene is money making monster .

  • indie is at least listenable. r&b and pop just make me puke.

  • @dirtypleasures Yep, but that's why we love our friend, the internet! Right? Close the damn TV and get lost in here....

  • So true... and yes its sad, very sad!

  • Na, MTV was always pretty crap. You just started to notice it once you grew up a bit.

  • Not really

They used to play aphex with alarming regularity. I got into autechre in the early 90s thanks to MTV. Grunge music from soudgarden and alice in chains were aired. First black hip hop was layed on MTV (though it was banned for a while admittedly!) I think MTV was actually rather OK back in the day

  • @turtl3soup I know, right? I have some excellent memories of staying up late and watching weird stuff like this on MTV with my brothers.

  • @turtl3soup EVERYTHING YOU SAY IS DAMN RIGHT ! Im FROM GERMANY ! AND ITS THE SAME HERE !......

  • @TheAPC91

Much appreciated. I'm secretly hoping that someone will once more create a program worth watching. There is still good music out there. It's just sad that most of it is almost never heard. Check out my channel if this peaks your interest.

  • @turtl3soup .... Excellent reply turtl3soup I miss those days you could shit not seen anywhere else.

  • @turtl3soup Nothing Records was a damn good backbone

  • @Alienated29 I very much agree with you on that.

  • @turtl3soup absolutely true.

  • @turtl3soup MTV lost their backbone when they were bought out by Viacom in 84'

  • @turtl3soup In a free market the minority cultures will slowly demise as smaller companies are bought or merge with the biggest corporations, that's what happened when MTV merged with Viacom. Sooner or later there will be only one or a few large corporations owning most, if not all, mass media outlets. Only thing left will be student radio and blogs.

  • @turtl3soup

    "M"TV...

  • @turtl3soup it's funny you mention that becuz staying up late to watch these videos is why I'm a regular night person.

  • @turtl3soup is this possibly the record for most thumbs up EVER?!!!?!?! lol

  • @turtl3soup Glad I was a 90's kid, I miss those times :(

  • @turtl3soup i remember perfectly this time, and yes, it's fucking sad it's gone.... Fortunately, we have the net and good people to post and share good stuff like that...

but yeah, it's not the same feeling...

  • the fact that this was on MTV is impressive. why did they stop putting great music like this on as opposed to bs like jersey shore?

  • huh... weird... this is not the version on the dvd of Chris Cunningham.

  • @jderome1: Yes, Cunningham made two different versions of this Video ;=)

  • thanks for answering and for the information ^^

  • I can listen to this outro for hours! :)
