Sound quality is terrible (and I have really good speakers) you can hardly hear any of the amazing detail you get when the beat stops around 1:14 and 2:18 onwards!! If you check this out on the Chris Cunningham dvd you get the treble all right and the bass is soooo deep :)
Apparently, both Autechre and Cunningham himself were really disappointed with this video. Didn't turn out at all like he'd meant it too.
This is a different version to the one on the Chris Cunningham DVD, too! That one focuses completely on the machine, and the weird figure and beach scenes have been edited out completely.
failing the william gibson connection, I would love to see him direct an iain.m.banks 'culture' novel for the big screen. would be the most gloriously twisted combo.

@Intelectual95 seriously, you could be the smartest guy on earth but you still havent learned how to enjoy music. That's sad, someday u might understand it. I just hope 95 is your year of birth, that would explain your behaviour... wich could be rather comprehensible for a kid at his puberty.
@Intelectual95 ... you do know that listening to cock rockers like avenged seven fold actually brings your IQ down by about 80 clicks yeah? so you actually have an IQ of 90.

@Intelectual95 well you must be smart indeed. smart enough to let the world know how smart you are.
but you are not smart enough to know that a computer doesn´t do all the music by himself, most music nowadays is composed with computers or similiar digital interfaces. its not which instruments u can play/use its about your own creativity, and how u use it. all that garbage " they use computers..blablabla" is stupid.iq 170 XD old bread is smarter than you. who the fuck is avenged sevenfold?
the sad part is that this stuff got replaced with the crap you see on MTV now, but in Europe it's still quite the same, maybe less but music videos still do get played. @MrMushroom123 Shut the fuck up about Bieber, God. On every video. Autechre have NOTHING to do with him.
Also don't generalise people like that. Music sales are at an all time low. People are getting their good music fix elsewhere. Nobody who appreciates music looks for it in stores or on itunes anymore.
@lasrarities I honestly wonder why you would get so upset about bieber hes one of the only real talents shining through the morass we're in, en if hes too young to see of it out
The first time i watched this iwas tripping on a butt load of acid.......let me tell you, you don't know anything until you watch this movie on acid, it tells you the secrets of the world
Ah... long live Lego Feet (aka Autechre) also known as Skam. They started their work in 1991 for experiments and making freakazoids. I love old-school their job, it was very not popular, but this music is very unnique and atractive, how sad a very shork people know them. :( They still making good things even in 2010 year, but still, not that's so good as it was in 1991. Thanks for posting man!
@wetcrevice lol no need to do so. I'm so glad there is no clumsy 4 minute videoclipstory wrapped in this. it's like you just had an ufo sight. if you put some story into the sight it gets goofy.
Modern music has no substance to it. All of it is crap covered by poorly thought lyrics and after 3-4 months the self life of the song drops to nothing then its gone and no one listens to it cause of the new wave of more shitty music. Then u have music like this that still is makin heavy impressions to all of those listening. Music made with soul and heart will stand the test of time, so if you make music do it for the love not the money.
@isair81 Exactly but even trying to find those gems is a hard task in its self. Its like trying to find a needle in a stack of needles. Real music is dead in the heart, only greed fuels its ability to keep moving like a zombie after new flesh. Just die you bastard!!!!!
MTV was like MuchMusic (much less interesting version of MTV here in Ca). Bastards have made the entire country brain dead, uninspired and uniformed man!

I disagree, in the 90s Mtv made a lot of good bands popular by showing their videos and music, now they KINDA still try to do the same thing, but they are showing us all these bands that suck ass, and not to mention the horrible shows they air too.
After 1999 MTV lost whatever backbone it possibly ever had. They god rid of a ton of cool VJ's, along with the really good programs. Videos like this, prodigy, nin ect. played at a very late hour. It gave people like me and plenty of others a reason to stay up late watching t.v.
Yes, stuff like this got replaced with cheesy shit like Date My Mom. Sad isn't it?
It`s all about making money - they all got so greedy . Lady gaga , r&b "artists", and the rest do promote fashion designers, soda drinks and other crap, even so called indie scene is money making monster .
They used to play aphex with alarming regularity. I got into autechre in the early 90s thanks to MTV. Grunge music from soudgarden and alice in chains were aired. First black hip hop was layed on MTV (though it was banned for a while admittedly!) I think MTV was actually rather OK back in the day
Much appreciated. I'm secretly hoping that someone will once more create a program worth watching. There is still good music out there. It's just sad that most of it is almost never heard. Check out my channel if this peaks your interest.
@turtl3soup In a free market the minority cultures will slowly demise as smaller companies are bought or merge with the biggest corporations, that's what happened when MTV merged with Viacom. Sooner or later there will be only one or a few large corporations owning most, if not all, mass media outlets. Only thing left will be student radio and blogs.
@turtl3soup i remember perfectly this time, and yes, it's fucking sad it's gone.... Fortunately, we have the net and good people to post and share good stuff like that...
wtf is this?

After 1999 MTV lost whatever backbone it possibly ever had. They god rid of a ton of cool VJ's, along with the really good programs. Videos like this, prodigy, nin ect. played at a very late hour. It gave people like me and plenty of others a reason to stay up late watching t.v.
Yes, stuff like this got replaced with cheesy shit like Date My Mom. Sad isn't it?

It`s all about making money - they all got so greedy . Lady gaga , r&b "artists", and the rest do promote fashion designers, soda drinks and other crap, even so called indie scene is money making monster .

indie is at least listenable. r&b and pop just make me puke.

@dirtypleasures Yep, but that's why we love our friend, the internet! Right? Close the damn TV and get lost in here....

Na, MTV was always pretty crap. You just started to notice it once you grew up a bit.

Not really
They used to play aphex with alarming regularity. I got into autechre in the early 90s thanks to MTV. Grunge music from soudgarden and alice in chains were aired. First black hip hop was layed on MTV (though it was banned for a while admittedly!) I think MTV was actually rather OK back in the day

@turtl3soup I know, right? I have some excellent memories of staying up late and watching weird stuff like this on MTV with my brothers.

@TheAPC91
Much appreciated. I'm secretly hoping that someone will once more create a program worth watching. There is still good music out there. It's just sad that most of it is almost never heard. Check out my channel if this peaks your interest.

@turtl3soup MTV lost their backbone when they were bought out by Viacom in 84'
MondoReyTV1 1 year ago
@turtl3soup In a free market the minority cultures will slowly demise as smaller companies are bought or merge with the biggest corporations, that's what happened when MTV merged with Viacom. Sooner or later there will be only one or a few large corporations owning most, if not all, mass media outlets. Only thing left will be student radio and blogs.

the fact that this was on MTV is impressive. why did they stop putting great music like this on as opposed to bs like jersey shore?
orecchioj 1 year ago 2
