@tfgg of course the "actual flick" was better, they had 10 hours of screen time for character development,etc. If a tribute video in any way captures the artistry of the miniseries itself then it's worth it because it might introduce someone to a fantastic cinematic effort they may not have found otherwise. If you don't like it, don't watch it. Personally, I say bravo.
