It hurts to see how the strongest of them all (Dr. Cox) can be broken by something as simple as life. ... but in the end, is what you have to accept the most important, no matter how alone you feel, no matter how painful it maybe is. With the help of those around you, you'll make it through ...
@KrikeBike yes, he refused to believe that his best friend really died but when jd said "he went into cardiac arrest" dr cox didn't want to believe it was ben so he told himself it was the old man. and that's why when the girl was talking about the patient that ent missing, when she turned around, she was confused because no one was behind her. and she never did the high and low thing, dr cox just imagined ben making fun of her for that which is why her mood turned serious a few seconds later
in the ep where he finds out about the cancer. he says if he ever takes a self portrait will be the day he dies. and tbe funeral ep. at the begining. he shows cox all his pics and theyre all of him. big give away. i just caught it. and great ep. made me cry
Funny how in life sometimes you take things with you that you don't expect. First time I saw this video I couldn't believe me how much a simple sitcom TV show effected me. Amazing... Thanks Scrubs. :D
ben is the one who died 20 mins after dr.cox left, not the old man in the wheel chair. If you go back and watch dr.cox from that point in is the only one who talks to ben.
@outhacku If you watch the episode where Kelso decides to treat a rich guy instead of someone Cox wanted saving the song playing is The Fray - How to save a life, Cox shows some emotion at that point I suggest you have a look the Watch link is -watch?v=nxu98rkeXAU

When you really think about it, Dr. Cox goes through some of the most unfortunate and depressing times, possibly moreso than anyone else in the series. It's hard to remember that when he's being sarcastic, but it's moments like this and the scene in "My Lunch" that remind everyone that even Dr. Cox has feelings too.

@driftking74 The exact Scene where Ben does NOT have his Camera anymore is when you know he's been dead. In the beginning of the clip Cox asked "Are you still that guy who brings his camera everywhere?" The exact scene he died was, "20 minutes after you left..." They were referring to Ben, not the Patient
Ben was a character that only appeared in...what, 2/3 episodes? And yet somehow they managed to create a funeral scene that was more emotional, tear-jerking and heartfelt then I have seen done on shows where the characters have been going for years. And this from a comedy programme!
That is the mark of a great show. A wonderful blend of script, acting, dialogue and music came together to create that.

@7pulford they even have the normal credits tune playing over the credits at the end of 5.20, "my lunch", which is obviously a really sad episode too, and it has a heartbreaking ending. so it's kind of weird when you watch it on dvd. fortunately, they don't have the credits tune when scrubs is on TV.
He said he'd carry his camera "until the day [he dies]". He has his camera with him in every scene up to Cox being told about the cardiac arrest. After that, it never shows up again.
I'd say odds are extremely high that you're correct. Such hints are normal for writers and directors to drop into shows and movies..
@xKaboose He died earlier in the episode - he was the one that went into cardiac arrest while Dr. Cox was gone. Notic how his camera is gone after that. "I'll be carrying this around till the day I die."
@Lavampeace oh really? in which episode did ben go into cardiac arrest? i actly didnt miss a single episode, still i can't remember the one you mentioned, pls tell me !
it's also worth noting that at the beginning Ben says he'll carry the camera "till the day he dies" and after JD says he lost him, Ben is no longer seen with his camera
Notice that J.D actually talked to Ben when he took a picture of him. That leads me to believe that Ben was alive until the moment 'J.D screwed up' which meant Ben's death. So I don't think so that he was dead for the whole episode. Let me know what you think.

@killerreggie89 Halfway through the episode he first met her. At first she scared the crap out of him, then later he built up the courage to get her to listen to him and do the Physical and then she decided to have sex with him. She even ordered him to drop his pants, which he did.

This is one of those episodes. Futurama also has a couple.

it was the death of ben sullivan! after that all the parts with ben are just his "ghost" or imagination or whattever you wonna call it. Dr cox loved ben so much he couldnt cope properly. this is a great scene

The death of that old man.
But I'm thinking that it was actually the death of his son?
xXKonekoChaXx 2 years ago
maybe the death of the old man but if it was his son he'd kill himself
