Is the grey structure in the left hand corner of the first clip one of the hydroelectric dams on the west side of the cascades? If so, how did you build it? Also, what are your rocks made out of? They are very realistic. Thanks.
@LukasTheRailroader The structure you saw is a mountainside track support. These exist in several places on the prototype where the mountainside is too steep to use a conventional cut and fill.
@LukasTheRailroader The rocks are hydrocal castings made using Woodland Scenics molds. There are many small castings placed side by side with the spaces between filled with sculptamold and hydrocal, then carved to match the castings. The carving was done while the filler material was setting up.
the only way I'm going to be able to make a decent Espee lightweight consist is to take off the sides of the walters passenger cars and buy the correct sides from Union Station Products.
@billr991 Thanks Bill, Have you gone and seen my friend's layout videos yet, Look for " SP Golden State Runbys. " by areakt, And there is another one that shows three alco PA1s and a PB, that's the latest one, I'm going to try and make the sunset limited, I'll use Budd 10/6 Sleepers from Walthers except the coffeeshop, Diner, and barbershop-lounge and Baggage cars-those I'll use the union station products and eastern car works,
I bet building the articulated chair and diner was a challenge.
@tjseid Yes it is Digitrax. There is an article about the control system on my layout website. The website URL is in the video description dropdown box below the video window. (YouTube is blocking URLs in this comment box)
For europeans, 30x11ft is a huge space! :-) I only have an area of 6x6 feet (in an L shape) available, essentially a shelf layout. That passenger train is beautifully build. Is there anywhere or anyway, where you've shared how to build it, particularly how you constructed the roofs would be great to know. I am contemplating building a Budd RDC in due course. Thanks very much!
I didn't take any photos the car building. But the roofs are easy. The roof itself is generally included in the car core kit. You add details to suit the prototype.
Bill - wonderful stuff! I particularly like seeing the locomotive lights reflect on the inside of the tunnel (at 2'02), prior to it appearing. You are getting better and better at this. Roll on Part V!
@k2kkoos, xxxIronHeadxxx - Thanks for the compliments. Actually, time and work are what's required, rather more than just money or space. For example, the passenger train is "home made" from styrene car sides and car core kits. The layout is of rather modest size, being only 30 x 11 feet.
This is truly astounding, Bill R. I would love to build something like this one day.

As a fellow SP fan, I must say, this layout is incredible! I'm trying to model the SP and SF in transition era, any recomendations?

@billr991 30 x 11 is huge! most of us normal dudes dream of that much space. is your layout in a 3 car garage or somthing?
