Its good playing but I think the melody needs to be further down from the bass line, a view octaves higher throughout your whole piece, like in the second phrasing I think, great playing though!

Nah, it's not all that hard lol Some parts are indeed harder, but they're manageable with some training. Plus, that's where lies all the fun =P

The main idea was to keep the lower notes to higher notes progression, but without discarding the bass-line. When u get to the higher notes it's harder to do the bass, so I ended up having to use a technique I saw in a steve morse video (thumb thing).

Oh, I saw uncleparsnip's version, it's prretty nice =) scratchedsurface's very good as well!

Well, that's probably because u got used to the original version. (If it were a mistake or something, u should've highlighted some seconds, not a whole portion)

Still, nowadays I would've changed some of the notes from my transcription. Back then I was more worried about exposing all the chord's notes, but I learned some stuff after writing/hearing "shadow..." and "gathering stars...", and another song which I haven't posted yet
