We got this on Chile, I wanted one so badly but my parents couldn't afford it. This was also the price if you were one of the first 5 to complete the gijoe album. I was about to complete it, only 8 stickers left...
I had this monstrosity complete with box in the closet for 25 years. When my son was born 3 years ago I placed it on eBay and sold for $485. Others selling theirs got about $150 less for it. My wife was on 6 months maternity leave and needed extra cash.. :( . This thing was longer than a queen size bed. At least I have plenty of pictures for memories.
I've always wanted the aircraft carrier as a kid I saw it at Toys R Us assembled huggge!!! When I was 9 had this circled along with some Joe's, & Transformers in the Sears Christmas catalog didnt get it but got the Air Striker,Flint some Transformers on Christmas morning. Any kid that got the air craft carrier was lucky & the most popular kid in school.
I got this for Christmas 1986, it was the BIGGEST pain in the ass to put together. I used a board to place it in the basement so it could be moved around
@digz1590 AMEN !! This thing is fucking huge !! I'm 35 and i don't remember this thing. It's a monstrosity lol. I'm surprised i don't remember it. It's so big i'm shocked right now. lol
This was the biggest pain in the ass to put together when I was a kid in 1986. Took me 3 days to put together. To move it around we built on a 8 foot board, however once together it was so much fun to play with
the aircraft carrier was one of those toys from my childhood that put you in the elite if you owned one. I had an extensive gi joe collection as a kid, but did not own the big guy.
my older brother and uncle entered a contest and won 2 G. I. Joe - U.S.S. Flag Aircraft Carriers we had all are gi joes and one of the aircraft carriers at my grams house and when my cousin moved to Florida they took everything i was about 8 we went from a bedroom full of gi joes to nothing
That would have been fucking terrible, if it was me there would have been some kid at school who didnt believe all the stuff i had, and by the time a playdate was organised, old cuz had taken off with all the stuff.
I had one of these! It was so big I used to sleep on the deck at night! If memory serves it was right at $100.00, and that's why I never had any jets for it.
I love how the kids floor just happens to be ocean blue :P
There is a lego carrier out there. Don't think it's lego brand but it's lego blocks or some shit. Def bought myself one for my 20th birthday. I miss my childhood so much...
This advert must have been every parents worst nightmare! Oh no jr saw that advert an wants me to throw out the coffee table for some over priced hulk of chinese plastic. plus it dosent even come with the the fighters so ive got to shell out for them too!
The cost of the Sky Strikers weren't so bad, $15 then (dunno what it'd be adjusted for inflation, maybe $25-$30), but problem was that they could be tricky to find because every kid had to have one!
In the 1985 Sears Catalogue, this was listed with a $109.99 price tag. I really want to get this someday, but boxed versions run for $3000+ on ebay. :-(
SOME assembly required!?!? Screw that, man. My buddy got one for his birthday one year when we were in Grade 4 and it took 6 of us something like 3 hours to build it and put all the decals on. Totally worth it, so super sweet.
lol "where is the admiral?!" "he's at the wheel!" i love how toy commercials are ridiculously fast paced so that its hard to realize they dont make any sense
I used to think that you had to be one super spoiled ass kid to have one of these, it was like over $100 if i remember correctly. It was the equivalent to seeing a Ford GT on the street nowadays to me "Cool, i wish i could have one of those..but who am i kidding" Lol
Is it true that this is in fact thee biggest playset known in existence?

lmaoo i had like six of these back in 86, took our butler wilbrook
five hours to put just ONE together......discontinued in 87,
and haven't seen them sell it since. funny thing is, i haven't
opened the rest so i basically have 50,000$ chillin in the garage....now
that I think about it, we could've opened the other five and somehow
connected them all to create a Mega Ultra USS Flagg

As a kid I asked my dad for one. He could not afford such a monstrous toy. He made me one with a couple cardboard boxes and duct tape. Close enough

WarhawkLegend69 2 years ago
Wrong. According to the YoJoe! website, they originally retailed for $14.95 in 1983. Adjusted for inflation, they would be more by today.
