I like option 2 myself.

Drumming is for me a joy and a lifelong endeavor of striving to play with greater expression and creativity. What drumming is not is an ego driven competitive sport or 'pissing contest' which too many drum videos and drum merchandisers seem to promote. Antonio Sanchez has monster chops but also has a great love and reverence for the music and strives to express that with new ideas and hard work.

I am glad that he explains the basic elements of his playing on The Gathering Sky. Otherwise, AS' genius on the drums would keep him from communicating with most aspiring drummers. No doubt that he is amazing but as an educator, I feel he is for the advanced drummer. Many drummers are at the level where they need the exercises which will allow them to play all of these things eventually. Still, I am entertained by Antonio's technique, skills, and creativity.
