esto si es música bizantina, realmente ilustras con fidelidad el periodo de cambios trascedentales, muchas gracias, tengo por hobbi muchos libros de arte particularmente del medievo y el bizantino, me apasiona.
Well, we must not forget that theere were cultural influences between the two parts of Christendom, and that both music have their roots directly in the music of antiquity. This song in particular, if it reminds me of the troubadours, also reminds me even more of Ancient Greek music: there is a uniquely Greek tone to this song, in the arrangement of the harmony.
lets not also forget the fall of constantinople lead to the rise of western europe nation states like SPAIN, and also lead to the demise of much of the middle east and italy who depended on trade with western europe. Christians can no longer travel east to india and china. Turks blocked straits of bosporous. Christians needed a new route which is reachable by sailing around africa or sailing west into the unknown. Fall of constantinople is a major turning point in western history.
western nations have n.t. in debt towards byzantion. There were born/to be born before/at 1453, but the fall helped impulse portuguese, & castilians search for new routes towards east
In mid March 1920 the British led an Allied military occupation force Constantinpole. Allied troops moved in and replaced the Ottoman police, declaring martial law and dissolving the Chamber Of Deputies. It ultimately was President Wilson of the USA that forced the British to turn back over Constantinople to the Turks.
Byzantium was the only empire on earth that last for 1000 years. But nothing lives forever. Great vid and unique music, nice job, there is few that respect Byzantium empire this days.
it was one of the only two empires to last longer then a thousand years, its counter part in western europe the holy roman empire lasted also for a thousand years with the begining in the around 800ad until 1800 when napoleon invaded and dissoloved this old european institution. Also venice which was considered the worlds oldest republic was also dissoloved by napoleon and it lasted for 1000 years. Cant blame napoleon he did try to restablish the roman empire which will be based in France.
Es una lastima la perdida de Constatinopla. Y si es un perio perdido, y era lo ultimo que quedo de la antigua Roma y se dejo perder. Los Otomanos, no encontraron nada, sino lo robaron y lo enterraron.

...It's lost...,
but many look for it across the today's tortured world to find it back...
+they'll find so many others (people+virtues+heritage) in their quest,
when the whole of it is found again+revealed in its maximum splendor.
From darkness,
into His Light.

The song is "A Girl Sang" performed by Early Music Workshop, Album: Constantinople, my Beloved City. In greek
rolandcas 3 years ago
thank you. Curiously enough, the music sounds more as M.A. western music than as byzantine.

En realidad, lo de perdido es por lo poco que hoy se conoce del tema (perdido en la memoria colectiva). Un abrazo.
