I miss these kind of games.. Even indie games these days don't seem to get close to the whacky concepts of the 80s.. otoh, I guess one of the reasons is that every game back then was a big surprise (remember copying 100s of games from someone who also had a computer in one afternoon, and check 'em out later? :D ). And a lot of them were crap.. these days, you can find all the info you want on the net, that takes away the surprise of whatever gem you may find on your own.. :)
I had this on the Big 6 CD32 compilation. Possibly my least favourite, largely because you only have one life- touch a flame, baddie or trap and that's it- game over.
Good music melody, but instruments sound awful. Can forgive that though, since in 1989 it's one of the oldest.
Great, but hard game! There was an fun glitch you could do- if you put in the flying cheat (can't remember what it was), you used to be able to fly upwards to the actual title screen from the screen where you start the game. If you moved the snorkel on that screen from its original position and then died, the snorkel would still be moved when you went back to the title screen so Dizzy wouldn't be able to pick it up. He'd then commit suicide at the title screen when he jumped into the water! lol
This was, and is a great game, I noticed someone complaining about the graphics against Shadow of the Beast, but the game was on £5 when it came out and shadow of the beast was £35. And honestly I got a lot more enjoyment out of this game.
Thats so strange how you remember old cheats. Did you ever play that game where you played as an elephant. It was a platformer kind of like new zealand story. Any way the cheat was ITCHYARSEHOLES, i will never forget that even though i've forgotton the games title.
Amazing game! I first played this on an Amstrad! I then got an Amiga 600 and had a copied version of the Dizzy Collection on floppy disk! This is something i have to download off the net!
My first game on Amiga. It were times when there were no copyrights in Poland. Heh.

But still, the graphics is among the worst seen in an Amiga game.
Compare it to "Shadow of the Beast", released in the same year on the Amiga !
