@berkelusa Its called ventilation. Firefighters do this to release the superheated gasses and smoke from the structure making and interior fire attack more effective. You can see better and its not so hot inside.
@wfd6912 If you look it really didnt take that long to get water on the fire. The first due truck arrives around the 15 to 20 second mark and at about 1:56 the firefighter on the stretched line is applying water. That's actually a really quick time to get a line in place. Im not sure if they set up to a hydrant or just went straight off the truck for a knockdown. The second due engine stretched a supply line from the hydrant. Excellent job to the fire department Stay Safe!
I know they are volenteers and do a fantastic job and save lives and structures but why so long to get any ariel attack. You gotta get the tower up at first arrival. It must have been 10 minutes to pour. Otherwise great job!!!!!
As always greta video. I have noticed on the ladder trucks hat are yellow tanks on the aiseds of the ladders that say "breathing air" what is the point of those tanks if the FF's wear SCBA on scence?
the reson for the air cylinder on the side of the ladder is if the firefighters are going to be working in the basket/bucket only there are air conetions for them to hook up to and breath air from that cylinder . that is why thoses firefighters were wareing them they were the ladder trucks platform to work off of I hope your question was anserd
Its not hard to beat firefighters on scene. It takes me 46 secs to put on my full turnout gear. By the time trucks pull out it'll be a good 2 mins. Anybody that has a scanner can hear the call, jump in their POV, and race to the scene ....
Was it necessary to show the firefighter in distress??? You do a good job of getting the action but perhaps the personal stuff could be left out....I know you're not providing names but I'm sure you are aware of H.I.P.P.A. nonetheless. Otherwise, it was some good action
I'm glad you like my videos. However, the H.I.P.A.A. comment has nothing to do with providing news coverage of a person down in public. I am not a health care provider and have no knowledge of this firefighters medical records. I am telling a story through the lens of the camera. I do that job very well. Thus making me fully aware of the law that excludes such activitiy. Facts first, then let's criticize. This is my style of video journalism. The video gets the point across.
I wonder what started it.

I've seen better vent work w/o a tower ladder as the initial access to the roof.
