This has nothing to do with migrants, it has to do with international students. These students work to pay for uni fees which goes back in the economy, so how are they taking money $? Puneet had already appeared at Melbourne Magistrates court, so bail at that stage was the responsibility of the court, not the police.
And here's the irony! The court would have required reasonable grounds to suggest there was a real risk that Puneet would abscond, or that he was a danger to a member or members of the public. If bail was refused without this, it is possible that ultimately the case could have been compromised, along with subsequent allegations of racism.

He was charged the night of the accident, he was way over the legal blood alcohol limit of (which is 0.5) and he pleaded guilty - that in itself is by his own admission of guilt. And then after his passport was confiscated he fled under a friend's passport to avoid the charges, knowing full well his guilty admission would see him in prison. These so called indian "students" are visa cheats.. It is all about getting PR/citizenship to them and once they get a PR they work in convenience stores, drive taxis, clean toilets or receive well fare payments once they receive a PR.

There are hard working migrants and lazy migrants. Indian students are not migrants they are here on study visa with certain hours allowed to work per week. This has nothing to do with migrants, it has to do with international students. These students work to pay for uni fees which goes back in the economy, so how are they taking money $? Money which they earn will go back to uni to pay for fees.

This happened quite often in Miami, with it's surplus of illegal, third-world immigrants. They have no legitimate links to the community and are probably using counterfeit identification anyway, so it's easy to disappear afterwards.
