I know how to do that, first, you open up Finder, then look in All Images, you'll find all of your photos, If you have too many pictures, It'll take a long time to find the ones you need, if you found it, right click it, and find Open With, and if you have Paintbrush, click Open Up->Paintbrush, then It'll open up the photo in Paintbrush and edit it, If you're done, It'll still be part of iPhoto, then use it in iMovie

No you do not need istopmotion. Follow the same procedure for the photos, then time them out in imovie. It actually works better in my opinion. I don't even have a mac but it worked for PC. I get macbook pro soon though

It's free software for editing and drawing. All you have to do is google it and download it.

When you buy iStopmotion (2) now, there's an option to load audio tracks (I don't know about the older version). So you can do the entire process in the iStopmotion project without loss of quality from compression.

you can also record just the mouth movement one time on a green background and use it as green screen so you can use it thousand of times!
