Look at the price of parts for a small block Chevy and Ford.SBCs are dirt cheap to build and Ford is TWICE the money to build.I wonder why it is called Ford tough with Chevy stuff with street rod builders.I only saw one Ford street rod with a Ford engine,rest are small block Chevys.The 1996 to 2009 Mustang GTs with the 4.6 are gutless,any Camaro or Firebird with the LS1 will wax them off the line easily.My father's friend Rich even beat one with his hopped up 1983 Monte Carlo
They tried as much as they could to stack it in the Chevy's favour, the timing gear failed, you went too fast... yadda yadda yadda, but the Stang was just too much for it.

@wafrederick Making everything interchangable isnt always a good thing should a 305 really have the same 400t tranny as a 454 sure if you want terrible gas mileage and to tear up your rear end haha. and any one who swaps a GM motor into a ford must have a lot of time on there hands cause with rigging new motor mounts and a tranny swap it just aint worth it and it sure as hell aint gonna be anymore reliable cause i have a graveyard of old SBC and BBC sitting out back to prove that.
@foxyz125 The LS-7 454 in 1970 put out 450 horsepower.No 460 ever had that kind of power because it was never built as a high performance motor.Your truck on the other hand should have had a 12 bolt in it.They didn't start using the 10 bolt in the backend until 81 or 82.I also trashed many 10 bolts in my trucks.
@vinman1029 my k10 use to be a mud truck so it had a dana 60 so i swaped that for a GM 10 bolt cause i needed the axle anyway just to be fair with the LS-7 it was a chevelle motor and if i had one with a matching serial number i would sell it long before i would build it just saying i was just saying

@plrbear510, most of the guys who gamble their cars away on Pinks are guys who own auto repair shops, transmission shops, autobody shops, parts stores, etc... In other words, they have money and they have access to the cars, parts, and knowledge necessary to build a race car quickly and relatively cheaply. Plus, they all love fast cars and racing them, so why not do it?
