I will be diving here to finish my open water course and i have to ask what is it like there because i have to wait a month and i just want to know about it the visibility looks really low.
I beleive this is part of the artificial reef program....but its still sad to see a plane used in this manner, it should have been given to someone who would have restored it.... or at least sold for the scrap metals.
@1stMrSceptical Capernwray is usually clearer than Stoney and they have a lot to see as well as the plane and all the great trout. So for shallower dives and clear water I'd say Capernwray was better, Stoney however wins over if you need to do some deeper diving (down to 37m) as Capernwray is only around 20m.
@kjp543 Hi I havn't dived Stony in Years, just to show how long ago: There were no facilities : no staging, no showers, just a deep hole, if you were the first in great then down hill from there on in.. The deepest I registered was 110 feet about 34 mts according to my log book. It was absolutely freezing, there was just a thin layer of sheet ice I wore two wet suits one 3mm and a 5mm over the top. I was a keen diver in those days. Another place we use to dive was Nazing Pit Essex,
@germanshepherdjuliet A Rainbow Trout scared you? Dang, I am surprised the world hasn't given you a major heart attack by now. Rainbow trout are the most harmless fish on the planet.... and oh-so-tasty too.
@MRBoenz Thanks for the comment, the lake is a dive centre in the Lake District in the UK. Near Carnforth in Lancashire. They have a website dive-site.co.uk
@Icaller1915 Thanks for the comment, the lake is a diving center and they have put a number of attractions into the lake for divers to explore. The plane is one of many attractions, they have cars vans, boats helicopters and even a submarine! Have a look at dive-site.co.uk
wow that's incredible!!! so all of the dials or gauges were removed.. interesting. i got my PADI in the Red Sea last year... it was a dream... visibility like it is on land. just a complete dream.
Great Video, I have just purchased a dry suit and am hoping to visit Capernwray with Diveworld (Sheffield) soon. I am looking forward to it even more now.
@wackjonny Thanks for your great feedback. Much appeciated. Beth (my daughter) has now progressed to PADI Rescue Diver and still enjoys her diving, nice to look back on this and see the smile on her face!
Thanks for the comments on the video and Yes it is a scrapped plane, it was sunk as an attraction in an inland diving site in the UK. The plane cost over £25,000 to buy and prepare so they avoided making it too expensive by taking the major value items out (in any event I suspect they would get stolen anyway). Great fun to dive on nontheless!
@ls176dr Thanks for the feedback, you will be in for a treat now you have passed your drysuit specialty you can dive all over the UK. There is lots to see, from South Coast Wrecks to stunning scenic dives in Scotland. Enjoy! I have uploaded a few videos of some of the great UK dives - Isle of Man, Devon and Scotland so far my favorites.
@kss341 - thanks for the comment on my video. You should give scuba a go, it is great fun.. Even in a chilly lake! I am in the Red Sea at the moment, quite different! really top notch diving. The video will be on YouTube Soon. Kevin

Why a sunken boat is near the airplane?

@kjp543 Oh no problem. So you went diving and you found those sunken vehicles? Is that true? I saw a sunken boat after I saw the airplane.

Great Video, I've just got back from Capernwray, and putting my own video together but this is really excellent.

Dived Capernwray many times but must say this has got to be one of the best Videos I ever ever seen regarding the young girl enjoying herself.
She reminds me so much of my daughter in her posture, energy sometimes erratic yet comfortable swimming ability's meant in a positive way.
Very well put together video edit, music seems to work well too.
Superb and very well done.
Dive safe!
