@wayupinya1 I have to disagree. Going out immediately, when it feels right, worked for A.J., while the Fan Appreciation tour worked for The King. Two different types of people said goodbye two seperate ways. Have to say though you're the first person I've ever seen refer to Richard as "pompous."
I remember that day at the speedway vividly. I think it was as hard on some of the fans as it was on AJ!

A.J. as gruff as he may be, he truly is the "Grand Champion."
The tears he sheds alongside Tom Carnegie will truly humble anyone.
