I still remember the nervous chuckles from the audience, wondering WTF they just saw. This performance blew my 14 year old mind, changed my taste in music and maybe just changed my life. Absolutely unbelievable for 1981. One of the greatest bands ever. I was lucky enough to see them not long after this at the Peppermint Beach Club in Virginia Beach Virginia. With a fake id. It was like going to the church of maximum rock and roll. RIP Wendy.
Amazing...THIS is what real musicians and artists and live shows are all about. It's so unfortunate that she's dead. A lot of us missed out on them. Seriously, I look around today, and think, what the fuck? Where are the wendy o williams of 2011? where's the plasmatics of 2011? it sure as hell isn't lady gaga. there aren't any bands that i can think of that compare, and that's a sad, unfortunate thing. why aren't more bands like this, or doing something like this? come on..
I know this (and Butcher Baby) performances by heart as I had the recording for years after putting up a cassette recorder to my TV speaker years ago. Thanks for uploading it as now I can actually SEE it again.
@N3146 I was about to post the EXACT same comment! I did the exact same thing! The only bad thing is that MY copy had my little 15 year old self saying "Oh shit...Oh shit..." over and over. This just BLEW...MY...MIND...
I remember the large penis. I am still at UF...working since 78, When i saw joplin here in the old gym, she spilled southern comfort on me as i was leaning on the stage, front and center..also talked to me! :)
I saw Black Sabbath on their first tour in Richmond, VA. Edgar Winter band opened the show. I liked them more than Ozzy. Loved Edgar's first solo album. I got invited to the party on top of the Hilton afterwards. Ozzy showed up along with a couple other band members.
I remember this! I stayed up late to see it. Before MTV you had to see bands on late night tv. Midnight special, Don Kirshners Rock concert, Saturday Night Live and various once a week video shows.

I watched 'Fridays' faithfully- this was like watching Martians land.

Badass show. But ya know Wendy hated having to put that bra on for Butcher Baby. Fuck censorship.

Saw them twice in 81. Got a pick from Wes Beech and a part of the tv and bled from a glass cut. Awesome shows. Miss Wendy.

I saw them in 1981 at the UF Holloween Ball. After Wendy blew up the car, the
University banned Holloween Ball at night. Wendy, RIP, we miss you.

@WhiteKagu
I was there as well. Best concert I ever saw other than Janis at the UF Gym back around 1971.

@RMAchello that Plasmatics show made the UF to ban night-time Halloween Ball for awhile.
Now they don't have the Ball anymore. That was also the last Ball that the large penis showed
up. It was a great show. Ozzy in his last show, on his first tour, in Daytona was my best concert.

this was the only punk band, aside from the ultra weird Lene Lovich, that scared the crap out of me as a kid

I wished Wendy would have sledgehammered the TV set in the screen first while it was on.

Risky buisness...It's dangerous to inhale the stuff that emerges from the smashed up tv tube.
