  • I'm currently a 25Q and reclassing to 68W to reenlist because all signal MOS'a are over staffed and all E-4 and below can't stay signal to reenlist. This was the only MOS available to me besides 11B and 19D.

  • Yeah, I joined right out of highschool, and got 68W, but it's a really hard MOS to get right now because the military is already overstaffed. Good luck guys

  • @RichieCupp I was talking to my recruiter a few days ago and they had about 160 openings just in my area alone for 68W.

  • Does this MOS require medical school or can i join right out of high school?

  • @G3CK0117 highschool just do good on you asvab i think you need 106 and over

  • @bimboy08 i qualified and i had a 70 on the asvab

  • I was a 68W once, then I took an arrow to the knee.

  • @Spocktavian Dovakhiin

  • The music should be in the background of a poorly shot 70's porn...

  • I just reserved my spot in 68 w and I ship out May 1st. Anyone in the same boat? I will be doing basic in South Carolina.

  • @carrylot Man I'm in the exact same boat, same day and everything. Except I got Jump school in my contract too.

  • Lots of this info is off. Us whiskeys ONLY learn massive trauma. We can treat it with our eyes closed, the hospital stuff you learn on the job!

  • ya that is odd my recruiter office started my future soldier stuff 4 days after i got back from meps, most of everyone who went to meps with me had a later ship day most are going end of feb, i am the only one going medic at my station out of about 25 future soldiers

  • im still a super newbie don't leave for BCT until nov, got my permanent MOS reservation and ship date aug, 10th

  • @socal1000 i don't leave till nov and i got mine in may, this other guy got 68W too and he got into future soldier training about a month after me and leaves in oct! WTF?!?!

  • @SPOCKTAVIAN---- You are full of crap!!! I am Female, 68w. I went Airborne and Air Assault schools and am currently deployed for my second tour to Afghan. SO>>>>SUCK IT!!!!

  • @MrBubbac25 Are you assigned to an Infantry Unit?

  • @MrBubbac25 FOBIT!

  • Comment removed

  • @thabinestacker

    Enlist 11x

  • i was told by so many people to not get my hopes up on getting this MOS.

about a month ago i walked into a army recruiter station and asked a few questions, filled out a card and got called back 3 days later by my future recruiter

went into the office talked to him told him i wanted to be a medic, he said what if medic is not available i said then i will do something in combat arms to get the most medical experience.

long story short took my asvab went to meps and yesterday left a 68w

  • @socal1000 What unit are you assigned to? I'm a 68W assigned to the 144 Infantry Battalion.

  • @socal1000 Hey man do you think if I got my EMT-B before hand it will help my chances getting this MOS??

  • is the medical school more difficult in the army or in a university?

  • firebird ftw

  • if u already have ur emt license do u styill have to take the test?

  • @TheColbert54 Not if you have NR-EMT cert. If you do then you will go staight to army medic training.

  • @TheColbert54 only if your nationally registered, if you are only state registered you will still need to do all the training and take the EMT test.if you are nationally registered, you become "fast tracked" and will usually skip about half of the training (emt portion)

  • I was this one when it was 91B.........."Doc" is a heavy weight on your shoulders if you are lucky enough to serve with the combat arms. I've had Captains asking my call to bring in a Dustoff. You can literally be an E-1 and have control over EVERYONE because YOU are the medical authority. But.....You'd better be right.

There is no more noble profession than a Combat Medic. None. When the boys start calling you "Doc".....if the ever do...You've made it. You're in.

  • I ship out to laxin' Jackson on Oct 3 got airborne rager in my contract with 68 Whiskey. hooah

  • @CordRice18 I did too man!! we should be in touch =)

  • wat asvab score for this, im dumb as hell

  • @supremo502 its not the actual overall score they look at. i know your GT score has to be a 107and an ST score of 101. And a bunch of online things will tell you that AIT is 16 weeks, but mine is 18 weeks.

  • @supremo502 ASVAB Score Required: GT 104 and ST 101, what ever that means. Do you know what the 'average' ASVAB score is?

  • Met a combat medic today who helped take of my husband, I was really happy when he took charge and things started looking up. Awesome guy.

  • Ha this is hilarious

  • how do you get into dustoff?

  • hi All i enlisted as 68 W..will go to BCT in about 3 mths

has anyone just finished this MOS recently..i ask whats the chance of getting ASI skill identifier after finishing AIT how do i get that opr what the basis for it ..and which one is the best? LPN?

  • Just signed up or 68W today at MEPS, i leave for BT July :)

  • 1:12 I'd do that chick...

  • Anyone know if a female 68W can be assigned to a line unit??

One girl I knew was a light-wheel mechanic and she was deployed to Iraq with an infantry unit out of Hawaii...so I think females are allowed to be attached to infantry units, as long as they aren't on the front line. (Which is BS in itself; I was in Iraq in '05 during OIF III and there was no damn "front line"; the whole f-ing country is a war zone.

  • @SavoyTruffle78 .. NO female medics can not be with a line unit. They can be with a Infantry Brigade that deploys but you will see no action, Don't worry, you will be in a BSB, Charlie Med unit on the FOB a nice A/C tent.

  • @peterstednick Actually, SavoyTruffle is right. There really are no front lines, and despite the fact that women aren't supposed to be put into combat situations, it's hard to avoid. Convoys hit by IEDs or ambushed, FOBs under mortar and rocket attacks. You get the idea.

  • @zeepiratequeen Yeah that's why only 124 women have been KIA compared to 6017 men.

  • @peterstednick That's funny because I saw more female medics out in the "front lines" when I was in Iraq. Then again there is not front lines anymore. You're convoy gets hit, guess what it doesn't matter if you are male or female you are then on the front lines. A female will not be in an infantry unit that is true, but that is more for the safety of the female. As a medic I have served in Iraq under fire in a Mass Cal incident, with female medics beside me. Female medics DO see combat.

  • Whiskey school was so fun. I can't stand getting up at 4 every day, and staying awake in class was hard, but other than that, I had a blast.

Definitely more of a basic training vibe than some of the other 68 series MOS', though. A lot of the cadre were ex-drill sergeants. But San Antonio is the place to be. This is a cool MOS.

  • @RCRhythm how was 68 W? and how do you get ASI after finishing the AIT?

  • Sorry i am a 68W and unless you are a female, go ahead get mad but not at me at the army they are the ones who wont let you do as much, hearing health care specialist is funny stuff. i think i heard it called that at my recruiter station and then never again. learn soldier medic first for ait at fort sam then combat medic or doc after that.

  • The music is so legit.

  • STARR (specialized training for army reserve readiness)

    +

    Nursing School

    =

no AIT after basic... now that's hooah.

  • <--- 68W with 4 years active-duty, 2 years in Iraq and stationed @ Bragg. If you're even 10% motivated to do anything "Hooah", medic is NOT the way to go! Do "Mike Six",(LPN = Licensed Practical Nurse) if you're looking to get something that will atleast pay a little $ in civilian life. EMT-B's get barely near $30k annually if we work tons of overtime! Most medics get stuck in hospital units and do nothing tactical! Few get put in combat units... Go for "Whiskey One",(W1 = SpecOps medic)

  • Question for ya'll. I signed as a 68W 3 months ago and leave for basic/AIT Jan 4. Im already an EMT so i signed as a CASP candidate so im an E-4 and am accelerated to the 8th week of AIT. Do you think i will have problems with comradery and learning?

  • @Jahr30 im at 68W ait right now, since you have you already have your emt you are going to go straight to a company that is in the whiskey phase of the training. Im in my 7th week just about to take the national registry. you work hard here but you also play hard and you get to go to downtown san antonio on the weekends once you get phase 5. the instructors here are great and so are the other soldiers atleast in my company

  • @edoublegplant Awesome, thanks. it just sucks that im only 20 and not 21 for going downtown down there

  • This is my MOS!!! I leave for basic raining 20110307! HOOAH

  • @ARCHIEzzle You do not have an MOS yet.

  • @ARCHIEzzle so do I, where you going for BCT?

  • I jonny moss from Albq, NM made this acronym...

FAINTED- Faked An Injury Necessary To Escape Duty/Deployment.

    spread it..

  • Dang dude I can't wait till next year last year of hs and gonna be a senior gonna enlist this year or next year hooah 68w dis shit iz da best mos

  • I enlisted as a 68W today. I leave November 9th. :)

  • I'm enlisting as a 68W. I leave in Feb.

  • leaving for Fort Sill 20110201 I'm so excited then i get to go to Texas for my 68w training

  • I want to do this but I don't want to wind up cleaning a car, standing at a gate, or punching my self in the face for joining. I would like to be on the front lines making a difference is there anyway to request a field unit?

  • @fr33t0killy0u You won't be cleaning cars or standing at a gate. It's true that a lot of army MOS's get stuck doing details that aren't relative to their MOS, but as a 68W, I can tell you it's an exception.

-Once you graduate ait you get to your unit and you'll either be working the aidstation. "like a doctors office" Or you'll be attached to a line unit. Getting attached to a line unit is up to your platoon sergeant, and more than likely they'll need line medics so you're good.

  • Leaving to Fort Benning 20110105

  • Shipping to Fort Benning GA 20100927 here.

  • how can u be guarenteed to be assign to a field unit and not work in a clinic or hospital?

  • @thabonestacker Go to Ranger school, gives you a hell of a better chance of being on the lines. Or you could go to SFAS

  • @thabonestacker

im sure someone already answered this but... you can try to do airborne or ranger school, which increases the chance of you getting into a field unit.

however, they just rotate you periodically. most 68W's do not ONLY stay in a clinic or ONLY stay in the field. gotta be well rounded, they say.

  • @thabonestacker easy! if you have a penis youre going to combat! if you have a vagina, they will give you rank, stick you in an office hospital, and you will never deploy!!!!

  • @thabonestacker have a dick between your legs, thats how.

  • @thabonestacker you cant.

  • I went to Meps yesterday and picked this job. Im going to BCT 20110104 Ft. Sill then Ft Sam Houston

  • @bimboy08 Same path I took. Fort Sill to Fort Sam. Same time, too. January of '08 for me. Be prepared to freeze your fucking ASS off. I mean it. Lawton, Oklahoma at 5 in the morning early January is no joke. Your hands are going to freeze to the ground while you're in the front leaning rest.

    HAHAHAHA!!!

  • I have the same MOS but I am shipping 20101001 and I am shipping to Fort Benning but I'll be at Sam Houston for AIT

  • @MrDinndinn

im shipping 20101019 to ft benn too!

  • Can u do this and still have a family and regular life. Please help me I wanna do this when i grow up

  • @theduketts I assume you're (wannabe?) infantry? 68W is a great MOS. When you get home do you think anyone will want to hire a trained killer?

  • Going to basic next year and I am thinking about going 68W

  • I ship to Ft. Benning for BCT 6-jul-10 then to Ft. Sam Houston CAN'T WAIT

  • Leaving 20111008 to Ft sill 68w ftw!

  • How does one become an infantry line medic within 68W rather than a clinic medic? Do you get to choose or are you initially a line medic but with further qualifications you become a clinic medic?

  • @AsrkidDF Right now if you go in you'll most likely be a line medic, they need more of those than anything else. They put you where they need you though.

  • screw war

  • how high do u have to score to get into 68w?

  • @ProAnaStarvingWorks i think that you need 95 or more in your ST

  • @ProAnaStarvingWorks you have to have a ST score of at least 95.

  • So I want to be a paramedic, is it better to do this, or just do the normal civilian classes to be certified

  • this will be my MOS 68w with an opttion 40 airborne ranger.

  • Karlwilliams1234 do you currently live in Oklahoma, I'm trying to figure out how they decide where you go for boot camp.

  • I'm enlisting as a 68wm6! I already have my emt-b so apparently I enlist as an e4! 18 months of training at an E4 Pay Grade!

  • how long does it take after basic training to become a basic feild medic?(i know it ranges anywhere from 16-50 weeks but i need something more accurate)

  • Comment removed

  • 16 weeks for combat medic...the thing on the army website is for like 68wm6 which is lpn, and it's 52 weeks.

  • I am 68W shipping out on March 10, 2010 to Ft. Jackson.

  • I'll see you there man, 68w here actually ship out march 08 from california. Excited.

  • I am excited too, cant wait, gonna have fun.

  • Comment removed

  • Hey... My MOS is also a 68w. BCT at Fort Sill and AIT at Fort Sam. I ship on dec 30th. If there's anyone else going to the same training posts, I'd like to get in contact as well. May become battle buddies

  • Hey guys I'm A new enlister. I leave for basic at Fort Bennings on Feb. 2, 2010 and do my AIT at Fort Sam Houston after my basic training. I'm really excited about my decision on become a 68w and was so happy that I was able to get it. What are the other things I can look forward to and there is anyone else that is going to my field and will be traing at Fort Benning I would really like to get in contact so we can both help each other out. I hear that this is a hard MOS. I wanna succeed!!!!

  • I'm a 68w as well. We have the same ship date see you at Benning.

  • I am also doing my AIT at Fort Sam Houston. I leave for bootcamp dec 30th.

  • you do not need college credits just have to qualify based on asvab scores....I am going to bct on 10/20/2009 as a 68w and I do not have a college degree....

  • I am a male, (not going to say current rank) and I am in an ARNG ASMC unit.

  • i am a licensed paramedic and have my associates degree if i sign up for this mos would be able to start off with additional rank? i dont know if its just a rumor i heard or if its true

  • You might be able to start out with a rank of E-4 (Specialist) if you are nationally certified as a paramedic and with an associates degree.

My associates degree gave me a starting rank of E-3 (Private First Class) and if I remember correctly I think my recruiter told me I would have been an E-4 had my EMT certification been national instead of just state.

  • I had a bachelors, but no EMT and started as e-4 specialist. You will get more shit from Drill SGT and cadre for starting as e-4 SPC!

  • Im an EMT-B and I'll be a 68w in Feb'10. Im an E-2 and w/o an associates. My recruiter said that to start at E-4 you need a 4yr degree but I can make E-3 my first year. Where are you a medic?

  • i work for AMR in tampa florida but its just not the rush im looking for so i hoping to sign up as a combat medic sounds crazy but if me signing up makes a difference out there savings some ones life then fuck it thats str8 for me

  • yes you will, i think the hightest rank they can boost you up to is E-4

  • Just graduated from Fort Sam Houston Aug. 14th...Delta Co. 232, Class 09-09.

  • yo was the biard exam to difficult?

  • Going Fort Benning on sept.22 who else is going??? get in contact with me.... sigh.... i cant wait!!!

  • got MOS 68W shipping to Fort Jackson on October 19.

  • Got done with MEPS and sworn in yesterday as a 68W. Shipping to Fort Sill on Oct. 5th.

Where can I get the soundtrack for this vid? lol.

  • I ship to ft Sills Oct 5 too

  • 68W here. If you didn't get the M6 in your contract, you are 99% not getting it so don't even worry about it. As for the guy worried about being stuck in a hospital- If you are male you are almost certainly going to a line unit. And if you want to ensure seeing some shoot em up, request Ft. Campbell or Bragg or any other high speed station like that. If you request 101st or something, you'll probably get it, they always need people.

  • 68w here. Swore in yesterday and I'm shipping to fort sill on September 21st.

  • Hey everyone, I got the 68W as my MOS and I'm already an LPN but I only got 68W without the M6 (LPN). Does anyone know how I'll be able to get the M6 title in AIT?

  • my friend is doing the same thing. she's in the reserves though. my guess is that you get the M6 when you become an LVN.

but the M6 was already added to hers when she signed her contract.

  • I really hate the title "Healthcare Specialist." We're fucking combat medics.

    68W B Co 1-87 INF

  • just finished MEPS got my MOS as a 68W -option 40!!

  • What are the chances of me actually being in combat if I become a 68W HealthCare Specialist

? I DO NOT want to be safe and snug in some hospital. I want to be out there helping our troops.

  • You can be attached to an infantry unit, and run with the 11B. You could also be part of a field hospital, or battalion aid station.

Just, let your drill seargent know during AIT, and maybe you can get assigned to a field unit.

I was a combat medic back in the day, did AIT in 97, back when the mos was 91B. Was a fun time.

  • what asvab score do you need to get to do this?

  • This is my MOS!
