  • I love how she says "do not use any plexiglas enclosures" and what do you know plexiglas enclosures

  • I have that cage for my ferret! haha! That's just awesome!

  • i'm not trying to sound ignorant, but i thought using cat litter was okay. how is it bad for their respiratory systems..?

  • Comment removed

  • I got used to the smell I didn't really smell anything around it

  • they're quite idiotic..

  • I like how one of the first things she says is "no aquariums or plexi-glass cages" while directly behing her that's exactly what the ferrets are being kept in.... LOL

  • Damnit, I thought that expert village was done after their horrible hermit crab videos. Back at it again, aren't they?

  • i have that cage :D my ferret dex dosnt like it though :/ i think i should ahve gotten a bigger one

  • Okay, she says no Aquariums or Plexie Glass... But yet the Ferrets in the store are housed in that.........

  • @SqueedooLaDuh It's temporary. Duh

  • thanks for the help

  • CUT TO TH POINT BEHALF CRAP NO ONE CARES ABOUT WERE YOU WORK ITS A WASTE OF TIME WWWWWAWATCHING IT

  • @trbaseball35 Dont watch it. Are you stupid?

  • Hi I'm Andrew and on the behalf of the youtube community please speak up I need to put earphones in to hear what you are saying!

  • Expert Village: Bringing you shit quality, poorly researched videos since when-the-fuck-ever.

  • She's right about being 'too hot or too cold for ferrets'.... My cousin's last ferrets died during the harsh winter... they were kept outside... his ma should learn to like ferrets for the ferrets' safety.

  • I love how "EXPERT" village says "how to bathe ferrets" then goes on and talks about random shit. Everyone go to Ehow, they have more accurate information, and actually know what they are talking about. I can NOT say the same for this useless piece of crap. We don't want you on youtube if you won't give us useful information.

  • I watched this after doing thorough research. I'm trying to learn all I can, but this is a joke! This lady obviously don't know her ass from a hole in the ground! I cage my ferrets but only when I'm not home. Pooping everywhere?... 3 of the 4 I have go where ever they are 2. Then my 4 month old always uses the litterbox. All of these videos are a load of horse shit. They should be sued for giving wrong information out to pet owners! Get a new jobe evey cause you suck at this one!

  • A cage for a ferret? Omg -.- thats like caging a cat.... Really, i still have to hear about a really good petstore that actually got knowledge about the animals they sell and know how to properly care for them.. Ferrets, pet hedgehogs and skunks should all be allowed to free roam the house just as a cat.

  • @NaurDulin Actually ferrets will excrete on your floor no matter how well trained, also they can get into tiny holes and be lost forever. a cage is absolutely necessary for a ferret.

  • @AmateurShows Your reply makes it sound like a pet ferret should never be let out of its cage then? Since they will poop on the floor. And thats not entirely true, it is possible to train ferrets to do their business in a chosen location. And get into tiny holes? Then plug the holes up and it wont risk to disappear. Ferrets are illegal to be kept in cage here in Sweden, and I have never heard any ferret owner complain about a lost ferret or loads of poop on the floors

  • Expert Village is probably just a dumbass co. trying to make people secretly and slowly kill their pets by telling wrong info. It's not only ferrets and stuff that they're lying about, it's all animals. YouTube should just shut this down if they could. And if E.V. is so much of an "expert," then they will respond to this and give me a piece of their mind.

  • @TheMrBlinx if you think that why do you watch it?!

  • This whole "Expert Village" series is lame, and for the most part, useless. First, they have the sound SO HIGH during the commercial that you must turn it down, then, when it's done, you have to bring the sound way up to hear anything. Second, she missed a great opportunity to mention that ferrets don't do well at 80 or above. For the most part, they are incompetent and should not be taken seriously.

  • Competition time,

How many times does this woman Sarah say the word:- UM?

    Answers below please!!!

  • @TerrieClarissa 6 times I think

  • @760Jamie

Correct, but I think it would have been alot more if they didn't edit it lol.

  • This cage is MUCH to small! Oo

100x80x120 is Ok, but the Ferrets must have than 3 or 4 hours a room to run.

  • @AmaterasuBijou WOW your a retard

  • ferrets are in the weasel family.

  • um is it ok if i had one of those cages with the pull out bottom for my ferret? It is just that litter is very hard to get out. I had a rabbit once and that was hard work.

  • my ferret will not eat marshalls food and he is a marshall ferret he ate marshalls food for like 3 days and found the cat food and that all she wrote now we buy wiskis kitten and he loves it also baby food once a week with feritone and feret vite he cant get enuff of it.

  • that not a good ferret food... never buy ferret food in supermarkets... you have to get premium food. like EVO, or zupreem, totally ferret baby...

  • @FerretCare My vet told me that kitten food is good for ferrets because it is more fresh than ferret food and it has just as much nutrition. My ferret's been living on it for years and she's healthy as a horse.

  • Well actually ferrets isnt meant to be cage animals, they are free roamers just like cats. If they are to have their own little cage, it should be open so the ferret can come and go as it please. Thats the pity with petstores, most of them dont really care how their animals have it, they just want to earn money, and hence, even may provide wrong information to customers.

  • is a 30" x 18" x 29" cage good for ferrets?

  • the bigger the cage the better also 2 levels is even better as they like to play about alot

  • well i think its all wrong i have 2 ferrets and my cage is about 3 times bigger than that and i still think its nt enough room

  • @makiebakie55 If you let your ferret out of its cage as much as you should then it should be enough room in that cage.

  • Oh bad, bad, bad that she's telling people to put small animal bedding in the cage! It retains odors and the ferrets will just poop and pee all over it. And she didn't even mention a litter box - LOL! Great advice there, girly!

  • because its in a whole other video.

  • @Ferretocious what kind of bedding should you get? Small blankets?

  • Ferrets are no longer in the same family as skunks they are in the mustella dae (Excuse my spelling with the latin) :)

  • Skunks are the one who are in a different family now actually in their own family, Mephitidae. Ferrets are in the the Mustelidae family.

  • No longer? They never were! It's the skunks that were moved! And it's Mustelidae - same family as weasels, stoats, badgers, otter, mink, etc.

  • Umm i have this cage but its like big enough for two ferrets but its not tall its long and medium height but there not going to be in the cage the only time they will be in cage is too eat sleep and urinate and what not so please tell me if this is ok.

  • That's not a good cage at all. Almost all pet store cages are too small. The only exceptable one from a store is the ferret nation 142.

  • to settle this you can put it in a glass cage depending on the type of cover wired is fine but no top is better

  • Why do they have ferrets in glass cages there? She said they don't give them adequite air and shes got hers in it lol. What an idiot!

  • The roofs of the the glass cages are either completely open or have a cage for a roof.

    Not much of a difference.

    Seriously your the idiot

  • All glass cages would have either open top or wire top. You can't put a glass top on or NO air would get in.

    You're the idiot!

  • What the hell would make you think i would put a glass roof on!?

All i said was that "the roofs of the glass cages are either OPEN or have a cage as a roof(same as wire)" i basically said the same thing as you stupid... -__-

Your the idiot. Thinking someone would be stupid enough to put a glass roof on a glass cage, AND misunderstanding what i said....

  • She said glass cages dont give enough oxygen. That doesn't matter what kind of top it has. You fucking idiot!

  • actually it does matter, you said it yourself "You can't put a glass top on or NO air would get in".

Whats the difference between a cage and a glass cage without a cover!?

It's not like the ferret isn't breathing(hes getting just about as much air as a cage)! As long as it's tall enough so they won't get out i don't see what the big deal about a stupid glass cage is.

i'll agree that i'm wrong if it'll stop this, it's getting annoying.... And probably annoying others.

  • No, she said a glass cage does not give adequate air in the video. Therefore a glass cage doesn't give adequate air, no matter what kind of top it has.

  • no.. she said dont put them in aquariums.. Thats a class cage with a lid.. That wouldnt be able to give them the proper air they need.

Those are in a glass cage without a lid.. their fine, and their not hers..thats a petstore shes in..

Normal cages are better for them because they can climb up into their hammocks..unlike glass..

  • Either way that isn't appropriate housing for ferrets. But most pet stores have them in these because they can put a vented cover over it and keep little kids from sticking their fingers in the cage. Young kits are quite mouthy and I'm sure they used to use regularly cages and had too many moms complaining of "attack" on their precious little brats.

  • @Ferretocious I think the moms should actually Discipline there children and just tell them not to stick there fingers in there! Some stores have the tops covered with a couple tiny round holes in the top! I just hate that!

  • They do this all the time at pet stores. They also tell people "Oh yes carrots are great for ferrets" and that you can feed them "any grocery store cat food" :-/

  • Yep, i was told they love grapes and tomatoes and i just died out laughing. She didn't understand of course lol.

  • I was glared at big time at a Jones Pet supply when I said "That food isn't really that great for ferrets." when the clerk told someone buying a ferret that "You have to buy Marshalls - it's the best food on the market!" I explained how since the ferrets are Marshall Farms ferrets they HAVE to say this and the clerk was like :-0!! like I'd just divulged the biggest secret in the world LOL

  • Ya, I've told off clerks a few times before too. Trying to tell one kid to buy cedar chips... You have to be kidding me! And i hate marshalls, it somehow magically makes ferrets smell like shit!

  • It's not magic - it's FISH! That food is loaded with herring which makes for VERY stinky poop - and ferrets!

  • I know that. It was a joke.

  • she said"THE BIGGER THE BETTER"

    HAHAHHA

  • I think just because some people keep ferrets outdoors doesnt mean that is is good for them..

  • ferrets are cute i am geting one but i have to begg my mom because she hates ferrets

  • ferrets are cute and are nice

  • Try buying with ur own money, research a lot, and than beg. That worked out for me I'm getting one this saturday

  • mine will be kept outdoors in england (an dyou know how cold it gets there!!) we had a minus 6 temp this winter and that was day!

  • what a complete load of horseshit!! Commercial breeders suck fuckin big fat cock!!

  • cn anyone plz tell me if having a ferret is difficult and expensive?

  • It is not that difficult (but there are rules, like ferret proofing your house). It gets expensive as they get older because they are very prone to a lot of diseases.

But in comparison to dogs and cats, all in all, ferrets are a bit more highmaintenance, but then well it depends on the ferret. Some give no problem at all :)

  • notice how she says no plexi glass or w\e and shes got like 239078 of em in plexi glass, as do pet stores.

  • omfg shes ugly

  • can green iguanas live in one of these

  • im thinking of keeping a ferret as a pet. ive been told by ferret keepers its ok to put them in a hutch (rabbit) it has three levels so is quite big. but i intend to keep them outdoors. but from what i read here most keep them indoors, surely they can live outdoors to if they are well provided for ??

  • Ferrets should not be kept outdoors ever. She even says so in the video. You have to be especially careful during mosquito and tick season because ferrets can get lyme disease.

  • your wrong ferrets can be kept outdoors. i live in UK. ive met people over the wknd who have kept ferrets for 35yrs and have always kept them outside in a large cage. + the British ferret asso' say its ok to keep them outdoors as long as they are let out to explore too.

  • if selene thinks that than i guess the safe thing is to get a screen like one for a window so the mosquitos cant get in the cage

  • well u do what is best in the states and we will do what we think is best fro us here in UK. ferret keeping has been a longer traditon in UK then it has in the states

  • ferrets have been kept in europe too in the outdoors and in asia too. ive just found that ferrets kept out doors in middle east and pakistan

  • Is looking after a ferret , like looking after a bunny rabbit?.

  • Ferret in a cage that size? I would never put my ferret in a cage. Cats sleep a lot too, but I doubt anybody would keep their cat in a cage...

If anybody in Sweden would put a ferret in the cage she´s showing, it would be against the law! 5 m² is the minimum limit here.

  • True cats sleep alot. Not the point. A 10lb+ cat is far easier to spot than a 2-3lb ferret. Spotting means avoiding sitting/stepping on. Also in the case of an emergency (like a fire) any emergency crews are not going to spend time looking for a tiny ferret. They will spot a large cage and grab any animals they can find from that cage. Not the same with a cat because, again, a whole lot easier to spot a cat.

  • THe cage right behind her has ferrets and is made of glass. ??????

  • It's a pet store display pen.

  • personally i like the smell of ferrets. not the poop but the ferret themselves. some might not and they might think im gross but i like it. my parents think i stink though after spending time with them but i like the smell if i can smell it at all. im around them so much i cant smell my animals in the room they are in.

  • I love the smell of mine too! It's a slightly musky smell, but I just love to bury my face in their fur and inhale as deeply as possible!!! :)

  • ya me to! if i can smell them! cus i just cant smell there poop since im around them so much. thats with all my animals but i love to put my face on their fur and smell. i could recognize that smell anywhere!

  • i know what u mean about the smell it is like a baby smell to me!! All animals have an odor, dogs, cats rats..... ferrets can be a little stronger but if u keep them and there bed and cage clean they do not stink!!

  • ya, they dont stink at all to me. they smell like. well like a baby, like you said. they smell good if you keep them clean.

  • Yeah, my mom is always telling me to clean there cage after I already have because she thinks their smell can be cleaned. Well anyone who doesn't love the odor ferrets give off, is not a true ferret lover~!~

  • you dont even need a cage just put them in a enclosed room put cat toys in the room and then you are good to go !

  • ya i no. i have a FN 142 cus thats the most i could spend and i dont have an extra room and my parents wont let me have a room in the basement.

  • like a closet?

  • Why do you want to have your ferrets in cages? That's the same like have your dog or cat in a cage.

Don't you know how much energy ferrets have?Don't seems like it.

The cages seems way to small to even play in :/

My ferrets have no cages. They can play around in which room they like, in the apartment. And I wich that my apartment was even larger then it is....

If you want to have an animal that lives in a cage, why don't get rats?

  • I used to have a rat that (much like my ferret) I let have free reign of the place 3 times a day for an hour or so each time. Much like a ferret he knew the places he wasn't allowed to go and in return had his own little spots in the place that he got mad when I cleaned. My cat however is not going to squeeze under the kitchen cupboards if I leave him unsupervised! Nor will he go after the garbage to get the yummy treats inside. I love my ferret to death but I don't trust her in the least!

  • Agreed. My 2 ferrets, (you should always have 2 or more)are stuck in my room. But i only have a cat crate, and it's fine for car trips. Cover your power cables if you choose to leave them free like mine. But if i let them roam the entire apartment, they'd blow somthing up or burn the place down. They truly are crazy little guys. Don't get a ferret if you can't spend lots of time with them. I quit my job for the little furies.

    Peace out.

  • ya i agree. i have my ferrets in a ferret nation but i let them out to play in the basement. i have rats too and one lives in a small 2 level ferret cage but im moving him into another cage since his buddy died.

  • i dissagreee, ferrets do have a lot of energy, but do u know they also sleep a heck of a lot too ;0) geting on for 13 hours a day!!

they need to come out 2 to 3 times a day for a least an hour each time to let off steam and tire themselves out, ready for cage and sleep again!!! lol ;0)

  • Ferrets should hardly be kept in a cage as they are certainly not cage animals. Just because pet stores are advertising them as such does not mean they are. Travel out of the U.S. and everyone will think you're crazy if you keep a ferret in a cage like that indoors. I live in the U.S. currently and use that cage for rats.

  • I'm getting this for rats

  • Can you! build a cage??? i mean by your own :P

cause i mean those are expensive if u know what i mean

    lol

  • I have a room for my ferrets, its all theres. But once I haad a cage for them, They had the one in the beginning!

  • i have all on it

  • Rubbish anyway, who in their right mind keeps a ferret indoors? In the Uk its illegal to descent as it shouldnt be done, too right. My ferrets live in a hutch with a run built onto the side which has catflaps and all kinds of tubes, hammocks, igloos, sacks and buckets in. They also have hay for one of their beds and material for another. They also have wood pellets for litter tray. If it gets hot, then a bowl of water is placed in for them. But they love lazing out in the sun. All 7 in 1 hammock

  • Best ferret guide Ive found is "ferrets for dummies" Ive done a alot of research and most sources have different opinions which tells me that their info isn't accurate, this book I trust this is what it says " He should be indoors, Ferrets are not outdoor pets, and keeping htem outside can lead to escape, disease, illness, and/or possible death. Short, supervised outdoor excursions are okay, but ferrets should not be kept out for long when the weather dips below 40 degrees Fahrenheit"Kim Schilling

  • I have the cage that she's showing off in the video and I despise it. It's dreadful to keep clean, the plastic is low-quality (the corkscrew ramp broke while I was putting it together), the metal bends easily, and the shelves begin to bow after only 3 weeks of your ferret running on them. Do yourself a favor and buy a Marshall cage. MUCH better value for your money. I just ordered the Penthouse that they have and it's friggin' sweet.

  • @Karthiliad Marshall cages aren't bad, but the ferret nation 142 is the best on the market.

  • cant you put blankets down as bedding

  • Yes you can, I do and my ferrets are happy little guys.

  • ok thanks so much! :)

  • Frecklesluver10, I did do that before but I changed to bedding because they pooped and peed all over dem.

  • No, it's not please dont get it. The shelves are horrible the bend after about 2 months of owning, ferrets fall easily and get hurt. Also as you see it's like a fenced off boxe, the wire, and the hooks broke easily and the ferrets when I came in to check on them were out and roaming around!

  • When she first starts out in the vid thats my cage for my ferrets!

  • You mean the purple/green one? That's the one I'm planning on getting. Is it good?

  • I have that cage and I hate it. I've had one of the levels break (the hooks on the side that hold it to the wires) and they chewed apart the cage clips and it's really hard to clean.

  • My mom would clean cage and do every thing daily so it would never stink clean cage = clean ferret.

  • I'm disappointed she didn't even mention a litterbox or appropriate litter. Ferrets can learn to use a litterbox which needs to be scooped daily. High quality food is NOT Marshalls.. try Innova Evo, Zupreem or Totally Ferret for a good food. And yes, cat litter can cause respiratory issues due to dust and the chemical that allows it to clump. For info on ferrets read Ferrets for Dummies.. it will really give you the most up-to-date information.

  • you seem to know what your doing so can you tell me what you think is best for the floor of the cage thats not a litter because i'm allergic to most litters

  • by that comment i was talking to lbaran

  • Just use blankets and such, have 2 sets so you can do laundry with one set while they already have a set in there. And if you have any sort of allergies to the ferrets, cleaning their bedding frequently should help reduce it.

  • I use woodburning pellets in the bottom of the cage and "yesterdays news" in the litter box, works good for me in case a sleepy ferret misses. Dunno about allergies though.

  • Argh, how do you make it post comments connected to other peoples comments? Also for outdoor ferrets I remember reading maybe somewhere else that they need some sort of heart warmong shot if they are kept outside? Also that their lives are shortened a good deal (as in years) because of the uncontrolled weather. Basically they age faster.

  • Nope, not a member of the skunk family. Skunks have been proven to be their own "family" and ferrets are no longer in that. They're mustlids. Skunks are in the Mephitidae family.

  • ok why would anyone use shavings for a ferret cage? They just make a mess with it. You should use ether blankets or hammocks, ferrets like to sleep comfy and they need to stay warm.

  • I think unscented cat litter is fine. Just put a little in the corners of the lowest level of the cage and it will make scooping the poop much easier. Also you could use shredded paper. But most importantly make sure your ferret gets at least 4 hours out side of his cage a day. Also change water EVERY DAY!!! give ferretvite daily (careful not too much) and a meat based ferret food (like Marshals Premium) or a high protein cat food. Do not feed your ferret that crap they sell at Walmart.

  • okay well no offense u dont know anything.and u dont use shavings for bedding u use BLANKETS.or hammoks.and ur not a "expert" with ferrets ur a dumbass.

  • She said that retard

  • What do you use for disinfectant for the cage. Thanks.

  • u could just use hot and soapy water and scrub the cage dogandcattle.:D
