can someone help me with somehow a Bee Calendar in which i will have the right dates when i have to work with them!? i would thank u all for helping me because i have now 2 bees and steel not ready to now when to start working with them. Thank u for helping me ...
A couple of things. Consider pulling a frame from the side first then you can separate the frames before pulling them so you don't roll any bees. Also - less smoke is more - I don't use smoke personally. And consider ditching the queen excluder and doing walk-away splits. Basically - divide boxes of eggs and brood into two hives. Don't matter which the queen is in - the queen-left box will make a new queen. Cool video tho - good to get the kids involved.
G,day there i also have split a hive a couple of times, and what i found is the queen i had made from a frame of eggs that i put into the hive i wanted to make was a drone layer. all my hive got was drone eggs. the cells were not capped at the time so i didnt know what a dissapointment so check your queen lays eggs that are worker bees. don,t assum you have a queen and all is ok trust me on that one. good video the young fells is keen good to see a new generation of bee keepers,
Love getting the kids involved. I have a 5 yr old grandson who can't wait until I get him some equipment so he can help me with my hives.

Nice idea using those plastic crates to get the hives off the ground.

@Hamish121212 I wish I could say that was my idea, but I got that from my dad. They work great!

ustahyou - A calendar depends a lot on where you are geographically. Where are you located?

Great job on your video. I just did a split also & found a queenless hive. Waiting for a rush order. Fascinating hobby!
