Yea he won, I love foxbodies. But he didnt have the nuts or skill to go from a dead stop, and he had those fog lamps from autozone on. And his hood was sticking up on the front, I guess he really needed the hood pins. So, nice car fast car, but not a proud moment.

@86blackwidowgt I have a couple 5.0 (305) G92-code Camaro videos on here... yep, taking out a Mustang...LOL!!! Any motor has potential, although some just have a little more (hint LS1) LOL!!!
@NedacFilms My 305 powered camaro with a 6 speed and 3.43 smoked a 350hp 350 camaro with an auto trans. It is all in the combination. Although, I do have to say that the 302 5.0 motor is much better with the 4 inch bore and shorter stroke.
@Dodgerules12 GM made many versions of the 305, ranging from the economy based TBI models that produced 170hp (that gave the 305 a bad rep) on up to the G92 optioned 5.0 liter TPI models, that produced 230hp and 300tq, and actually performed very well for its time. The 5.0 liter G92-code F-bodies produced mid 14 second 1/4 mile times... as did the 5.0 Mustangs of the same era.
@NedacFilms I used to street race my 92 5.0 LX with a guy who had one of those 230 HP Camaro's. It had a 5-Speed and it was no joke. And you could get a manual tranny with those. Unlike the 350 that only offered the auto if I am remembering it right.
@331Grabber It wasn't me was it...LOL!!! ...I have a few videos of my old G92 Camaro 5-speed. You are totally right, the 350 cars could only be had with the auto, so if you wanted the manual and knew your way around the order sheet, you opt for the G92 version which triggered the bigger cam, 3.42 gears and a couple other items. They were really cool cars, that many gear-heads don't really know about.
@NedacFilms Depends on if you were lurking around Fresno in the late 90s :) I remember us all being poor and trying to wring everything we could out of our cars. I was throwing out the air silencer and bumping the timing. My crowning achievement with that Stang was 3.73 gears. He had a few cheap mods too. We used to go back and forth trying not to blow the tires off :) I remember one of the guys had a late 80s IROC and the 305 Camaro beat him and nobody believed he still had a 305.
@Dodgerules12 Those were horrible motors... hell, all mid-late '70s and early-mid '80s motors were garbage. By the late '80s and early '90s, motors became more reliable with better components, computer controls and overdrive transmissions... and later by better design, etc...

As far as thinking these two looked slow, id say its a relative thing. both drivers were kinda takin a laid back approach to this, both races looked casual, thats how id describe these two races, casual. break out the traction compound, prep a road, do some nice burnouts and film from outside the cars, maybe flavor it with a couple of bucks and im sure it woulda made for a more entertaining watch. in any case, looked like fun to me.....

Those stock HCI 5.0s just weren't very fast :/ even with bolt ons this LX has a hard time beating an automatic LT1..I'm not hating either, I had a Notchback 5.0 will all the bolts ons, full exhaust, short shifter etc but the stock and shitty E7 heads and such, and I'd get beat up on by bolt on LT1s. I would have beat the majority of them untill about 80mph or so if I was gearded instead of the stock 3.08s, but fact is they need a good HCI setup to unlock their true potential.

@Brendon00000 By today's standards, absolutely they are slow... With factory produced 400hp cars that run 12 second 1/4 mile times of the showroom floor (2011 Mustang GT)... But back when this was shot, these were respectable street runners. 14 second cars were respected in the '80s... and 13 second cars were respected through the '90s (later '90s is when this was shot) Now it seems if you don't have at least a 12 second car, you are small time...LOL!!!

We were all good friends just testing our cars against each other, and didn't care if the other guy rolled a bit. He had a bad spinning problem and we actually wanted to help him get his power to the ground better to see what the cars would do, not the drivers.
