Personally, I think it's a combination of tabs and talent. I'm 28, have played guitar since kindergarten, and can read tabs & sheet music w/o issue. To me this appears to have been more of a dedication to learn the song without the use of tabs, but, like any other human being, I could be incorrect.

Regardless, I'm quite impressed.

Many great players are able to hear a song, and grandfather it into their own style. Though the rhythm is unique to Croce, I'm a firm believer that when you have a true passion for something you love, you just ... make it work.
