My late mom born in 1925 used to be always singing this lol lol in the 80s I got a copy and we played it on a windup gramaphone as my mom did in the 30s. thanks for sharing.
Fantastic, Grandad used to sing this (along with other great songs we shall never forget)." Look at the coffin bloomin great handles.." We lost you way back at Xmas 1987 but will still fondly sing your songs Grandad along with Nan's who so recently joined you, in our hearts forever may you both truly R.I.P Rich and all the family.xx
: D Hahahahah...my Dad used to spin this every Sunday afternoon...followed by him playing Mendelsson's "Funeral March" on his beat-up piano. It was the signal for my Mom to take us kids to the park (even if it was raining).

This is wonderful; I remember them playing it as commemoration on Radio WM when Sarony died in 1985.

Alan Bennett mentions this song in his book 'Untold Stories'. He used to listen to it on his grandma's red Rexene- covered wind-up gramophone.

So does Roy Hudd in his recently released autobiography 'Fart in a Colander'
